Frog Fishing
When I am fishing frogs in cover I always tie braid directly to the frog, and when I am fishing a frog in open water situations I always use mono line. So to answer your question, no I never use a leader when frog fishing.

Cool Find
The 1/16th oz Bitsy Bug and a Paca Chunk is my go to jig setup when the bite is tough. I usually start out everyday throwing it just to see what kind of mood they are in. My only problem with these jigs is the quality; I have probably burned through at least 100 in the past few years.

Worm/Stickbait Hooks
I primarily use Gammy EWGs for my plastic fishing. After missing more than my far share of fish this past summer, I'm starting to think its time to see what everyone else prefers for worms/stickbaits. Let me know!

flippin/pitchin reel
Never had a problem with my drag slippin, but I don't flip anything close to what you Californians do. I also have a Revo SX and ABSOLUTELY love it....I dont want to say it, but its probably the smoothest reel Ive ever used, and im a Shimano guy :-/

when to use the right" jerkbait?
Everyone has already make the comments that are important to think about. focus on finding out where the fish are, and then pick the right jerkbaits that correlates with their location, and how they are feeding. Are they active or sluggish? This is a VERY important question you have to ask yourself in order to pick a suspending/floating, small/bigger, loud/quiet, etc... When fish are suspended in more than 10 ft, I like the throw a deep x-rap. In anyother situation I am throwing a pointer 100 95% of the time. One other random tip...In cold water situations, literally wait 10-15 seconds in between jerks. This could make or break your day.

flippin/pitchin reel
These along with being well built with a aluminum frame, gears etc. Flippin and pitchin are gonna be the hardest techniques on your equipment so you have to make sure your equipment is beefy enough to handle it. Look into a chronarch...A little expensive, but it is worth it.
