  1. Has anyone received their orders from St. Croix? I ordered a rod when they put their retired rods on sale, but they still haven't shipped.
  2. For me the key is a harder cast, especially with lighter baits. The inductor springs are pretty stiff so it takes a decent amount of force to get them to activate. Anything aerodynamic that you cast fairly forcefully will work. You can also get a 36mm spool from the OG Zillion and use the reel for anything.
  3. I know everyone loves the bigger HD knobs but I'm not a big fan. I always look on Digitaka for the cork knobs whenever I place an order, they're so much cheaper and they are my favorite knob shape. You can also get cheap bearings on eBay to put 2 in each knob when you change them out. Thanks, she's a sweet kitty but loves to get in my business. ?
  4. I have one, it's an awesome reel when used as it's intended but doesn't offer much braking for light baits and light casts. I ended up putting a different spool in mine for everyday use.
  5. First of a couple of JDM reel orders, ordered on Sunday, delivered on Wednesday. It happens every time but never ceases to amaze me. I will probably put the HD on the Zenon rod I got last week. I didn't order the cat ?
  6. I have to stop coming to this thread. I've placed 2 JDM reel and bait orders to go with the 3 rods I've bought over the last couple of weeks. I have to stop. ?
  7. Sometimes the fish want that fast fall a heavy weight provides. Assuming the lightest weight and what you believe to be the most natural rate of fall will always work the best is a mistake. Assuming a TX rig should always be fished as slow as possible is also a mistake. Sometimes those things work the best, sometimes the opposite is true. There are no rules.
  8. Based on the rod I would go 12 lb fluoro.
  9. @TnRiver46 beat me to it. New packaging and some cool new patterns. My store has shallow diving sq bill, med diving slim sq bill, shallow diving fat sq bill and some packages with a popper, rattle bait and sq bill.
  10. Mine wasn't much better. The rod was ok but it was the worst box I've ever seen used for shipping a rod.
  11. Group buy anyone? Buy 5 Heliums at $400 each and get them for $120 a piece. ?
  12. I feel you, I've ordered 3 rods over the last couple of weeks and I didn't really need any of them. These sales are killing my bank account too. Hope you enjoy your new gear!
  13. Lol I know right! I have another rod coming from St. Croix that I ordered earlier last week and I thought for sure it was that one. I've never ordered something at 8pm on Sunday and had it arrive on Tuesday, crazy.
  14. Came home today, walked out front to check the mail and saw this Not how you want to find the box with your new rod. Fortunately the rod seems to be ok. I got the 7’2” Heavy Zenon 1/2-1 1/2 oz. The rod feels very powerful and has a stiff tip so the 1/2oz lower end seems about right. It weighs in at 4.9oz with the tags still on but balances well with a reel attached. Oddly enough I ordered Sunday evening and never received a tracking number or shipping notification and it got here today, Tuesday. Really fast shipping. But none of the baits I ordered came today so hopefully they will get here soon. Thanks to @Gigachad for posting the discount code. Hopefully everyone else that ordered will get their stuff soon.
  15. Dallas Stars, it's been a fun season so far. #1 in the west and playing fun, exciting hockey. Jason Robertson is leading the NHL in goals, 3rd in points and has an 18 game point streak. Pete DeBoer has come in and shifted the play to a more offensive style and it is paying off. I haven't been to a game yet this season but will after the new year for sure.
  16. If you can actually get ahold of someone at Okuma a lot of times they will send you the proper guide for free. Short of that take the rod to your rod guy and he should be able to find something to match pretty closely, if he can't, find someone else. Like Tom mentioned it's guide, not eye.
  17. Thanks! I just ordered a 7'2" Heavy Zenon rod for $215! It went through.
  18. The baits on the right are a mixture of LC and Evergreen Combat Crank SR’s, the baits on the left are LC CB 100’s which are very similar but slightly different. No SSR’s though. Sorry for the crappy pic
  19. This is the way. Set the cast control a little loose and use the brakes to control the spool.
  20. Yeah that's a tough one, they were getting hard to find 10 years ago when I was buying them. I have a handful of LC Combat Cranks and the OG Evergreen Combat Cranks that I think are basically the same bait but I don't have any in SSR.
  21. @Shismano Mine too, no shipping status though, just cancelled due to lack of inventory.
  22. I would keep it but you should use whatever you're comfortable with and have the most fun with. For me that is casting gear and good Med power rods are invaluable for certain techniques.
  23. Right off the jump its best attribute is it's not a spinning rod ? Med rods are great for finesse plastics, topwater, jerkbaits, shallow to mid crankbaits, all manner of plastics on a jighead...anything in that 1/8oz-1/2oz total weight range.
  24. I use acetone for bearings in an ultrasonic cleaner and Simple Green for everything else, especially plastic parts.
  25. There are a few pretty small walkers and poppers on this site. https://baitfinesseempire.com/product-tag/topwater/
