You need to know that they stopped making TDZ reels in like 2005.

The only time I've really 1/4 oz lipless is when the grass was really close to the surface and I couldn't keep a 1/2 oz bait from burying up.

The ML rating on a cranking rod generally describes a limp, wet noodle. However, the recommended lure rating of 1/4-1/2 suggests it will fish like a M rod. It would probably make a good small crankbait, topwater and jerkbait rod, among other things. If the deal is that good, you shouldn't have too much trouble recouping most of your money should you not like it.

Yep, definitely a BFS reel, probably not great for everyday use. If you intend on using it for finesse casting, it should be a great reel. I own the Alphas SV but not the Air.

When I first started building rods I learned how hard it is to take good pictures of them. Natural light on a bright day will probably produce the best pics.

It depends more on the lake for me. If it's a place I know a lot about, like Okeechobee, I usually only look at past results and go off of what I know about individual angler strength's and gut instinct. If it's a place I don't know much about I tend to be swayed more by outside sources.

My advice is to buy a Tatula CT on Ebay for $100 and see what you think. You can probably recoup most of your money if you don't like it. After using all different brands of reels for years, I finally decided that I liked Daiwa and Shimano and didn't need any of the others. I now only fish Daiwa and Shimano reels. If I could only pick one it would be Daiwa but I really enjoy Shimano reels too.

I would first find out the exchange rates and see where you can get it the cheapest. A lot of times ordering straight from Japan is the cheapest way to go.

It looks like it may have Gammy SS EWG's for hooks.

I usually fish RedEye Shad when I bank fish a lipless. They are very effective and don't kill the wallet when you lose a few.

I don't have a Tatula Ct, but I do have a couple of regular Tatula R's, one in 8.1. I use if for frogs so reeling power doesn't really come into play. I don't notice it one way or the other when fighting a fish.

It's personal preference. For baits that I move with the rod, mostly plastics and jigs, the speed of the reel doesn't effect my retrieve, the rod does. The fast reel is good for reeling in quickly for repeat casts and catching up with running fish. I tend to reel too fast with moving baits so I prefer a slower reel.

All around use, I would get the 7.3 if I fished mostly soft baits and jigs and the 6.3 if I fished moving baits more often.

Very nice Alaskan! What caliber is it? I really wanted a SP101 in .357 but I couldn't justify it. A lightweight, pocket/ankle carry, grab and go gun is what I needed. I will get a SP101 for IWB carry and comfortable shooting when I can.
