  1. I do the same in regards to RB vs EWG, for the same reasons. I also like Owner ST 36 for round bend and Gammy EWG or Mustad Short Shank EWG. In my opinion, the Owner's and Gammy's are sharper than the Mustad. The Gammy Short Shank RB is also a really good hook if you want to upsize but don't want a EWG.
  2. POF

That is a sweet rifle! Did you get .223 or .308?
  3. I fully expect ATL and NE to get through to the next round. The other two games should be really good. Give me DAL and PIT, but it could go either way in both of those games.
  4. I think it would be more popular if they had named it that. All the SS, SV, TWS, 103, 105, TW, CT....naming gets confusing for people who don't keep up with Daiwa lingo.
  5. I just weighed a dot, it was exactly .20 grams. I couldn't find any strips but I imagine .25g is accurate.
  6. Mine looks exactly like this one. Make sure you use hook bonnets on all treble hooks, otherwise, sticking your hand in can be pretty dangerous.
  7. There is a slight difference between NCP thread and regular thread with CP added. The NCP thread will have more of a painted on look. It will be hard to see the individual threads. Using CP on regular thread will look more natural but it's more difficult to get the CP coated evenly. Use the thread you have and worry about doing nice wraps. You can mess with using CP on a later rod. There is a slight difference between NCP thread and regular thread with CP added. The NCP thread will have more of a painted on look. 8. Is your regular royal blue thread NCP or regular? The reason I ask is if it's regular nylon the color will darken up a lot and almost turn transparent. It will probably look good with royal metallic but it won't look like it looks now, unless you put color preserver, (CP) on it. If your thread is NCP it will retain its color and will look almost painted. It would probably be a good idea to do a test wrap on an old rod and apply finish. You will know what it will look like and it will be good practice.
  9. Middle of the road gear is really good these days. I wouldn't worry about it.
  10. Get a Tatula CT on Ebay if you want a Daiwa with TWS at a reasonable price. It will compare much more favorably to the reels you mentioned. The Zillion TW that is on sale right now is a fairly large reel and that frame size is being phased out.
  11. My general rule of thumb is if it's a bait that you work with the rod, I use a fast reel. If it's a bait you work with the reel, I use a slower reel. I feel like I crank too fast with moving baits to use a fast reel. I work jigs and plastics with the rod so the reel is only for getting the bait back in to make another cast and a faster reel is beneficial. It works for me anyway.
  12. Haha, yeah I have seen that dude.
  13. Between custom rods and tweaked, upgraded reels, I have a lot of "custom" stuff. That said, I agree that it isn't necessary to enjoy the sport. I mainly said that as a response to the other guy's ignorant statement that "modifying new reels is crazy." Some of my reels are bone stock too.
  14. I would say the Zillion SV TW is the closest thing in size and function to the CI4. The Zillion TW is a decent amount larger than the Chronarch. I would give the performance edge to the Zillion SV. I find the braking superior and the spool to be very user friendly.
  15. Are people really bothered by this? lmao
  16. Congratulations Smallies! Can't wait to do it again next year.
  17. Detroit moved the ball in the first half but couldn't get it going again the 2nd. Big props to the defense, they had another good game.
  18. I find spiral wraps to be most beneficial when fighting a fish, not really with casting. I don't think they hurt casting but don't really improve it either.
  19. It has been fun! Thanks everyone for playing and thanks to Uncle Luke for setting it up! We should think about doing a pick 'em league or something else to go along with FF next year.
