About The Flu Shot....
Sadly I just found out a few minutes ago that one of my 30yr old daughter's former classmates died in her sleep last night. It is being attributed to the flu. No word on whether she did or didn't have any other medical conditions although non were mentioned. Very sad no matter how you look at it.

Help Identifying This Baseball Player
I could be wrong but it kind of looks like Willie Mays to me. Maybe with the New York Giants before they went to San Fran? He played for New York in '57 & they moved to San Fran in '58 so? The signature almost looks like it could be WM.

Electricians Help
This could be a lot of things. One good suggestion was to plug one of the affected appliances into an outlet in another room. b This doesn't sound like a short to me as more than likely a short trips a breaker or blows a fuse. To me this sounds more like a loose or open power connection. My only experience with a loose neutral resulted in too high of a voltage rather than too low. The open neutral in my case caused the 110vac circuit to not have a 0v neutral reference. This caused that circuit's voltage to rise to 220v. That intern blew a surge outlet strip. I think that it took out the power supply for a WII system. The neutral bus bar in the main breaker cabinet had some rust / corrosion. We ran a wire from the neutral to the ground bus bar and it took care of the problem. I have had a situation with a car system once that read 12vdc unconnected at a fan circuit ( with a top line Fluke meter). If i connected the fan it wouldn't run. Connected the fan directly to the car battery & it ran fine. There turned out to be a very bad connection down stream that when under load would't carry the fan's current. Important! If you don't find something 100% concrete wrong then it is time to call in a professional as intermittents & loose wires can be serious fire hazards. Just my .02 FFI

Tea Drinkers?
For the most part same here Kmac. I don't put anything in it just black. I even go with decaffeinated if at all possible. The reason that I am looking around is that I was at a work conference a couple of years ago and picked up a random plain Jane tea bag. That turned out to be the best tea I have ever had. The others are not even a close 2nd. I failed to get the name on the bag. I'm not so sure that it wasn't Lipton. For some reason it was just unimaginably good. I don't know whether it was extra fresh or aged or what. If I ever happen to find it again I will send some your way.

Tea Drinkers?
I'm thinking hot tea but feel free to chime in about iced teas as well. I drink the regular tea bag stuff for iced & sometimes for hot. I'm starting to venture out a little and have tried Earl Gray & English breakfast from my local tea shop for hot teas. I didn't care for the Earl Gray but I like the English breakfast. Any suggestions on what to try next & or what you do & don't like? FFI

Autopilot Trolling Motor??
I've got a MK Powerdrive V2 & hate it. I don't have I-pilot but I cannot see it making up enough difference for normal bank type of bass fishing. My motor is very touchy to operate, you are constantly on & off the pedal either side of the pedal & it is difficult to do with one foot w/o going on & off the thrust. Even in "maintained" on mode it is very difficult just to keep traveling straight. In addition my foot pedal is very touchy if any water even in a very light rain. If my motor gets in any kind of weeds it locks up in & quits no matter how fast I shut it off. This is on a 55# on a 14' john boat. I bought mine mainly for longer battery life which I see no evidence of whatsoever! I will never ever own an electric steer again if i can help it! My buddy hates it as we'll & many reviews I've read share the same sentiments. I could be wrong but I don't see cable steers ever going away. Just my .02 FFI

Side Imaging
Thanks Wayne your opinion comes highly recommended.

Side Imaging
For those of you who have used SI how do you like it? I fish mainly small shallow lakes 6' to max 20' deep. The lake that I fish the most has submerged farm drainage rows that are a max of 12' deep that have shrubs / bushes along the edges where the depth rises to 6'. We vertically jig these for bass. Some of the shrubs are submerged thus we cannot see them. It would be nice to which ones have fish & which do not. I think that side imaging would be perfect. What do you think? Any suggestions? Thanks FFI

First Nice Largemouth =D
Do you hook directly through the worm or do you use one of those o-ring type of deals? I wonder if they would last longer with the o-ring. I've got tons of brand new packs of those rubber band things from my kids's retainers. I've always meant to try them but haven't gotten around to it. I have used them as holders for holding those glow sticks on slip bobbers and they work well for that.

First Nice Largemouth =D
Thanks alot BA72 as of today I now own yet another soft plastic that I probably don't need. I work 5 mins from a Bass Pro shops and stopped in there for lunch and bought some purple Yum Dingers! Even though I am so close to it I generaly do a great job of not getting carried away. Gander Mountain is farily close as well but I will avoid it for a while.

Should I Use A Leader?
x2 I had a friend who was getting outfished maybe 4,5 or 6 to one using the same lure. The only difference was that he had braid and the other had mono. He added a leader and instantly started to match the other guys catch rate so I always go ahead and tie one on to be safe.

Any Experience With Gander Mtn Combos
I haven't bought a GM combo but I have bought separate GM rods & reels. I own several GM GST series of sinning reels and love them. I've had them for several years and they have had zero problems. They fish as well as many other more ( much more ) expensive reels. I don't think that they make that particular series any longer. I'm almost sure that they were a virtual Pflueger Medalist clone as I own several of both. I've got 2 or 3 GM rods and they work fine as well. A couple of my GM reels I have purchsed via e-bay for maybe 25% of the store price if not even less. If you bid on E-bay you have to stick to your $ plan. Don't bid to win just bid to get the deal that you want. I haven't bid for quite a while but I know that towards the end of my online shopping that it was becoming much harder to get a deal. In order to win I always had to put in a bid at the wire and hope for a lucky win which I did several times! Often GM has rods on sale and a second rod cna be had for 1/2 price. Good luck.

Review: Yo-Zuri Hybrid
I tried the regular Yo-Zuri (12#) on a baitcaster and didn't care for it. I did not try KVD though but I don't care for that hassle. I use the remainder of this line as a leader on any setups that I have braid on. The Ultrasoft is a completely different matter though, I love it. I use it on spinning reels exclusively and love it. I never use any line conditioner and it works fine. I also introduced a friend of mine to it and he loves if as well. Maybe the best line that you can buy in my opinion and with the price it is definately #1. Note: This same friend was fishing in a boat with another buddy of his one day and the other guy was getting about 5 to his 1. My buddy was using the same lure etc but was using braid. He added a floro or mono leader and immediately started to match the catch rate of the other guy.Hence my leader on braid.

Nephew's Prank
My nephew Eric has a pretty clever sense of humor. This was from a couple of weeks ago so you might have already read it. CBS sports has been to his house as well as another network. I think articles have been on a a bunch of internet sites including MSN & Yahoo sports etc. The Boston globe and the Chicago Tribune have written about it. There was not animosity here nor do I think that it was meant for $ gain. He just likes to tinker with things to see how things work. http://www.news-press.com/article/20120221/SPRINGTRAINING/120221024/Cubs-fan-buys-jetbluepark-com-much-Red-Sox-Nation-s-dismay

What Really Grind Your Gears
Rude drivers in general who..... Get in the left lane so they don't have to sit in line and then as the left lane ends try to force their way into the right lane. Think that just because you are in the left lane and passing cars on the expressway think that it is ok to tailgate you because you are not going the speed that they want. This is despite the fact that you are already over the speed limit. Tailgate everyone that they follow ( Women seem to be a disproportiante offender ). People who tailgate you even while sitting at a stop light! ??? People who are stopped 20ft behind the car in front of them at a stop light. I'm sure some of the distances might just be my perception but man for some of them it seems like if they so much as fart that they are going to run into me! lol

The Things Kids Say
A friend of mine had 2 daughters. One had very bright blond hair and the other had really dark hair just like both of her parents. When ever someone would ask the typical question " where does she get her blond hair?" the husband & wife would jokingly answer " from the mailman." One year at the daughter's teacher / parent conference time the teacher told the mother that she had asked the daughter the question and that the daughter answered " from the mailman"! The mom was pretty embarrassed!

RW The Packers & the Cowboys do you have no shame? !!! lol j/k I'm a Bears fan but I've always liked the Chiefs & some others. I liked the Chiefs clear back to the Stram Len Dawson. Buck Buchannon etc days when I was probably around 7 or 8yrs old. I imagine that was very close to the time of the merger? I also used to like to watch the Cowboys PRE - JERRY JONES. To me Jones is a large part of what I dislike about current NFL football.

The Joys Of Parenthood
I have a grandson ( to go with 5 daughters ). He is a blast, he exhausts me but he is my buddy. I was pumped yesterday when I taught him to drink out of a water fountain. I see most of the posts are about sons. We have 5 daughters and I always tried to show them different things and different perspectives. I didn't want them to think that girls could only be interested in "girly" things. over the years "they" have owned H.O. race car sets, train sets, car models, remote control cars and we have also built & shot off model rockets. I semi-regularly take our 12yr old twins to stock car or midget races. One of them has kind of fallen off the tomboyish angle but it is mainly due to the fact that she sees it as time to get some individual attention by staying behind with my wife. This same daughter did go fishing with me ( w/o her twin sister ) and all things considered she had a good time as it was just her & dad. I even taught one of them and her lawyers daghter's friend to do an oil change lol. Point being don't forget about the daughters.

Shimano Compre
fish-fighting-illini replied to fish-fighting-illini's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsCongrats Goose, $60 shipped is definately nothing to sneeze at. The difference vs what I paid is probably about the price of gas that it cost for me to go there. You didn't even have to leave the comfort of your computer chair to get yours.
