...on a Daiwa Regal-Z 2500C. Is this fixable? By a severely mechanically challenged person?

This is a copy from the instructions: With the unit in C mode, press and hold the CHOOSE button for six seconds and scale will reset memory and zero out. Press the POWER button and scale is ready to begin weighing again. This is me again: I have no idea what C mode is.

My experience is different from Doug's. I used 10# Gamma copolymer on a Daiwa 2500 size spinning reel and had no problems. I probably wouldn't buy more for no other reason than I'm unable to see what justifies the premium price.

Crankbaits come with varying quality hooks, and fortunately, these days, the trend seems to be going toward better hooks. I'm strictly a recreational angler and change hooks only on a couple of lures that have really bad hooks. If I can sharpen hooks that meet the fingernail test then I leave them on. Other people aren't comfortable unless they have the best quality hooks on all lures. If you aren't losing fish due to bad hooks, then why fix what ain't broke?

Nobody else can answer that for you. I'm not familiar with that bait, but most cranks that I've used do a very good job of attracting fish. If you want lures that cover those depths, and if you want six of each, in the colors that are offered, then it's probably a very good buy at just over $2 per lure. If half the lures won't ever get wet, then you've effectively doubled the price and it's not such a great bargain.

Yes, it's sarcasm, they're telling the reader that they believe those lures and techniques are very effective.

I don't use lizards, but my partner uses them a lot and often fishes them on the surface like a buzzbait, like we fish Horny Toads and other baits in that category. He catches fish that way too. So never hesitate to think outside the box and try something a little off the beaten path.

I don't know. But here in the Rochester, New York area, I've had excellent fishing in clear water under bluebird skies, as well as evenings and other low light times. I don't know where you're located, but I'd try whenever the opportunity presents itself.

One thing you can do when a Senko gets torn is cut off about 1/4" from the top, where it's usually torn. They'll still catch fish, and if you start with a 5" bait, you can do that four times and still end up with a 4" bait. A keeper hook might allow more fish per bait. Virtually every company that makes soft plastics has a Senko knockoff, many of them more durable. I've used a few with a high degree of confidence, as have many others, but there are also many who think nothing is as good as the original. You will have to try some yourself to see which side of the debate you end up on.

I tried a Hank Parker spinnerbait and didn't care for it. It'll catch fish, but the wire didn't hold up and the blades got pitted. Not the quality of a $5 bait, in my opinion. A graphite spinning rod, 6'6", medium power, fast tip, works well for me as a general-purpose bass rod. That doesn't mean it's right for everybody. I wouldn't be concerned about the size of the guides, I've never had a problem in that area. Buying a combo can save some money, but I've never bought one either because I'm not looking for both a rod and reel at the same time or the rod or reel, one or the other, is not what I'm after. If your last question about being hard to put together means is it hard to attach the reel to the rod, the answer is no, it's very easy.

I have stored line in similar conditions for more than three years, I don't know how many, and have used it without problems.

I've used Boogee Baits, but have given up on them, at least for the time being. They are excellent fish attractors, but this spring I lost almost 50% of my strikes. I don't know if the reason is the Leverage hook system, but I've lost confidence in it. If it had a rigid hook it would be my bait of choice, as it is better made with better components than the Chatterbait. As to the Boogee and Chatter, I can't see a difference in the number of the strikes that they draw. The Gambler Swim Blade is also good and well made, but it has a wilder and more erratic action than the others, and is more buoyant, thus it can't be worked as fast without jumping out of the water.

I've never used it, but the fact that it's some sort of gel that comes in a tube, as opposed to a liquid, suggests that its main use is to get the fish to hold on longer, not attract them, since the gel is a slower dispersing product than liquid.

They might be available somewhere, but that color doesn't show on Berkley's site.

One way to get going is to peruse a glossary, then search for additional information on subjects that interest you. NOAA has a glossary, as does The Weather Channel and many other organizations. You could google "weather glossary" and pick one that looks good to you.

I used to use weedless spoons and there is no doubt that they are good at attracting strikes. However, I haven't used them in years, as I have more confidence in getting a hookset with soft plastics.

I use: Jitterbugs Buzzbaits Ribbits UV-Flukes, which is what I call something that I put together. It's the body section of an Assassin/Fluke fused to the tail section of an Ultra-Vibe Speed Worm.

I've used both VMC treble and ewg worm hooks and I consider them good quality. One of the reasons they're standard on Rapalas is that Rapala owns them.

I've never been a match-the-hatch believer for reasons mentioned by the others. I recently bought the book, Knowing Bass, by Keith A. Jones, PhD. I don't recall the exact words, but he said basically it doesn't have to look or act natural, it has to grab the bass's attention. Analogous to Raul's rainbow example is the fact that most bass never see a worm, but they are highly attracted to their looks and scent if and when they do come into contact with one.

I bought a spool of 15# because they didn't have the Power Pro I was looking for. Now I'm wondering whether to keep it or return it. Would appreciate comments from anyone who's used it.
