how to set up my shimano citica
what is considered "light" though? Recently I've been using wacky rigged weightless senkos, t-rigged soft plastics, spinners and buzzbaits I don't know why I just wanted to buy a baitcaster haha. The equipment I have now is from 5 years ago and was very cheap I think. When would be the right time/situation to buy a baitcaster then? Well any time is a great time... and if you by the citca and a new (can be a cheapy) Baitcasting rod... you can still use your spinning gear for light stuff and use the bait caster for bass.. Light tackle to me is 1/4oz or lighter.... Senkos, t rigged plastics, Spinner baits, and buzz baits are all fine... but when i think of trout or panfish i think of small 1/16oz inline spinners, tiny cranks and poppers... stuff like that....

I learned to use a bait caster with a Shakespeare Xterra that was used when i got it... then i worked my way up to the gear i have now... no one says you gotta have high end gear to start with but it's nice if you can afford it... Makes it easier and less frustrating....

how to set up my shimano citica
ok first of all the citca is a bait casting reel and the intrepid is a spinnig rod... so you'll have to buy a new rod if you want to fish that reel. you can get some deascent Bait casting rods at wal-mart... i sugest the Ugly stick lite pro... 36$ but you'll want to upgrade the rod later when you have the money... if you want to use that rod you'll have to buy a new spinnig reel... if your going to be fishing really light lures i don't know if you want to use a baitcaster

Swimbait/Big bait reel?
People use braid... but i have heard from some folks that ya know how when you cast braid some times it catches on it's self on the cast? then wham bam pop there goes your 70$ 2oz swim-bait into the nothingness.. I have also heard the same for floro due to it's weak knot strength being usually 80% of it's rated breaking strength... so i plan on using a really good mono at about 25# or so

Jig Fishing Presentation
Vertical Jig i tend to do with a spoon.. I'm old school like that... but it does work... Jig fishing so versatile it would take hours to describe all aspects of it. that's probably why there really isn't a comprehensive article or video... I mean the jig it;s self comes in four types. Flipping, Grass, Football, Swimming, What i wrote about pretty much just covered flipping. Each type could have a hour long video on just it... i mean for swimming alone you can rip it, slow roll it, yo yo it, burn it, some times i fish it like a frog if the mats are real heavy cast on to the mat hop it to a hole and then let it drop wham. big bites... or burn on top of the mats and watch them blow through ... I love the jig for this reason... i can fish it to my imaginations content... i use them as drop shot weights too... yet to catch a double but i know it's coming..

Pflueger spinning reel spooling issues
Now Pflueger's are Shakespeares, and Quantums are Zebcos, a pig with lip stick is still a pig right??? lol
-
which baitcaster?
no need to apologize ... ranting is what forums are for... i was just stating that what you need most man is up to you but if you want an opinion on gear this is the place to go... I'm a gear head... I like collecting new gear as much or maybe more as much as fishing lol so... the reel would be an easy choice for me.. but you could be different..
-
which baitcaster?
the citca is worth the money for sure... but what you need most is for you to decide
-
which baitcaster?
