What are your thoughts on the double trigger on the new skeet reese rods coming out?

The black max is a good reel for a season but will wear you out if you use it for cranking. It has no power at all.

He was criticized for using gear that is out of the price range of the everyday angler. Now he is helping a new company get off the ground and designing rods for them. He is very knit Picky so I assume that he might know a thing or two about rods. It was the goal to keep it affordable, yet have as much as possible. I think this is a positive step for him and for the everyday angler. Only a few of you on this forum could afford the megabass rods and reels he was using. The rest of us just looked on in awe. Now we can afford what he is using and it makes getting to the public that much easier.

They used to make two different color braids that were visible with blacklight. They stopped selling them due to the fact not enough people bought it. You can occasionally find it online though. Stren Super Braid came in flourescent white for a couple years as well, but again it is hard to find.

I would practice with what you have first to see if you can handle the slow pace this system needs. Once you are sure of it and know you like then I would get tackle more inclined toward the specific technique. I believe that spinning gear is preferable on this technique. I personally have never tried it with baitcasting.

Hydrilla is your friend. When TXPW kills hydrilla they usually end up killing the lake for a year or two as well. Or they put invasive carp in that destroy the lake and then they have an oxygen problem with the lake.

Many of you talk about fishing creek channels and roadbeds in your lakes. I live in a lake that is mostly silted in except a few places people dredged recently. Most major road beds can no longer be found with depthfinder due to fact that the lake has silted in. What would you suggest when starting on a lake like this. Lake Conroe, TX. Used to be a big bass lake and had hydrilla. Now bulkheads and no grass at all. I am really wanting someone to help me out with this lake and would gladly mail them a topo map to help me out. Cat if you read this I would love your advice and anyone else who fishes structure instead of shoreline.

With the recent start of renewal of relationships with Cuba. We could see tourism expand and bass fishing trips to Cuba in a couple years. For years been hearing tales of giant bass there.

Jig

there is a fishing lake near there on the alabama side. It is a pay lake and has canoes you can rent. It had some good fish in it when I was stationed there in 2006. Can't remember the name or location though. The ramp on lake oliver is not a bad place to fish in the summer either. its within city limits.

consider yourself lucky, when I was deploying on my second tour in 05 they gave us exactly 90 rounds to zero, qualify, and shoot for the entire year. Said there was an ammo shortage until we got to Iraq. It was worse in Kuwait when we got there they gave us 30 rounds to zero and shoot with and make sure weapons were good to go. Now once we crossed the border, well then I had all the ammo in the world. lol

I have used them since they came out with the Serrano. Great quality reels with the best factory bearings you can order in my opinion. I would highly recommend them.

why not just use a jig head without the skirt if you think you need to peg a weight?

Sims does make what you are looking for, but it is costly. Look up Sims online.

That lake is well known for schooling largemouths in deep water. Look for the birds and drop a grub or spoon, If you catch white bass move to next school. also thin profile crankbaits are good on that lake around points.
