  1. The big difference is the cast control. Do you like an internal wheel that is hard to read, or the external ACS system. Other than that it is how they feel if you palm them. Many like the exo because it palms well. I have fished with both and prefer the smoke. I do not own either at this time though.
  2. Jeff Kreit recomended the Mike Mclelland rod from Falcon for football jigs. He uses that rod for just about all deep water applications except crankbait and swimbait. He says he bought 100 of them and keeps them in his house in case Falcon ever stops making them. He gave one he had been using on the sabine river away at a class I attended. I think buying a rod has more to do with what you want personally. I personally like having a foregrip on my rods. This means I am extremely limited to what I can buy off the shelf withoug going custom.
  3. Most say you have to spend 120-200 for a quality baitcaster. What is the best price range for spinning reels. What price gets you the best bang for your buck.
  4. unfortunately not many use quantums on this forum. I would also like to hear what they say about these rods.
  5. thats a great video, thanks roadwarrior. Anyone else have any videos or any thoughts on what it is that makes a spinning reel better than another?
  6. Just remember to reel in slowly and you won't have any problems. Most swimbaits work better at slower speeds. If ripping them then it won't matter.
  7. Most of the post on spinning reels are what should I get. Well I don't want that, I want to know what the different features on spinning reels matter and what the different technology on them is. I want a class on spinning reels. Don't just say buy ____ brand, give reason as to technology and features. This will help everybody decide on what they want or need better than just telling them to buy _____brand.
  8. What are the advantages of getting a Name Brand reel. Basspro has a parts department and a Service department for their reels. So what is the reason you should get a name brand reel these days? Price not the issue, just want to know.
  9. Paul Elias only uses 80 and 100 pound braid when throwing an alabama rig
  10. I would suggest fishing as many events as you can. Go to School and join the team at whatever University you go to. Fish as many of those tournaments as you can afford and network. Talk to everybody and get to know them. Join FLW, B.A.S.S., P.A.A. Start signing up to be a marshal on the circuits. This is a great way to meet some of the pros and network with them. Getting sponsored is about marketing and about networking. The more people you know and become friends with the easier it is for them to help you out.
  11. Being that you live up north I would suggest not getting micro guides. Micro guides freeze faster and that can cause hell on your rod, line and presentation.
  12. The Pflueger President Spinning reel is only $39.99 at Cabelas until march 10
  13. thanks Glenn I had totally forgotten.
  14. Walleye anglers will probably be the main buyers of these. I will give them a shot. I am a fan of Rapala cranks and shad raps. I could see using them around docks as a good option for them and between docks.
  15. Glenn should make a video of this knot
  16. Suprised nobody has given any votes to Pinnacle. They seem to be good reels now that they redid the entire line up couple years ago. I do like their rods. I personally voted Okuma. I will buy my first and probably only Curado this thursday at reel trade in. We shall see where things go from there.
  17. Pfluegar and Abu are the same now, so I didn't put Pfluegar in there.
  18. when you create post on the right side there is a small area that says create poll. it adds it to your message once you create it.
  19. US reel was sold two years ago. No new product or update from the company. I have emailed them multiple times trying to see if they are doing anything. I figure they won't be around much longer.
  20. I created a poll so this would be easier
  21. fixed it, I had forgotten two
  22. Customer service is second to none. I vote Okuma
  23. Lets vote and hear why
  24. the only downside to Okuma is that they are hard to find and handle in person. There products are amazing, and there customer support is second to none. Real people in Californea answer the phones and return phone calls if you leave a message. they also are good at returning emails within a couple days.
  25. I would suggest trying out Berkley Nanofil. It is $20 per package but is very much like braid, it last for years. Ken Cook is still using the same spool of it he put on last jan. He highly recommends the line. I plan on trying it as soon as I get my new spinning rig.
