2nd year non-boater needs advice
I have 5 rigs, and as a co-angler I don't think you will need anymore. I have a: spinning reel on a 7' Medium action rod for all light weight and finesse fishing Baitcaster on a 7' MH for all my treble hooks Baitcaster on 6'6" MHF for all my worms, spinnerbaits, etc Baitcaster on 7 MH rod for cranking Baitcaster on a 7'6" rod for flipping, you could probably do without the this one since I bought this one specifically for flipping and pitching in the our CA delta. All my rods are Loomis GLX, minus the flippin stick since they dont make a GLX version yet And all my reels are Shimano or Abu Garcia. I'm looking to buy a SWIM bait rod and reel combo to finish out my collection So I will have 6 total, not all which I will even carry with me.

How important is it to choose the "correct" rod and reel?
Yeah I bought 4 rods, with everyone help on the boards, Great advice here

Primer?
First I use this bulldog spray adhesive, I would say on baits primer isnt all that important, to me at least. It all depends how you are spraying the can primer onto your baits, I always use short strokes and constantly shake the can. Little short bursts maybe two or three at a time, let it dry and then do it again until the desired coverage is achieved. Let it dry all the way then spray the adhesive and then paint.

Abu Garcia BCX
Good rule of thumb there

FYI: Loomis Warranty
I think this thread needs to be closed. Nothing good comes from bashing each others comments. It is like anything and everything, its the bad service or product that gets known, not the 100's or 1000's of good service or products. You cannot pass judgment on something because you got screwed. What about the other people who had a great experience, you cannot discount that. Every company and person has different experience, you can't expect perfect service or product from everything. Like yourself, you never made a mistake in your 30 years as a machinist? If so, I really find that hard to believe. All in all, you can do a millions things good, but it only takes one to make someone bitter. Now I know we all have been there and said "Hey what about the millions things I did good, why you bashing on me cause I messed up once" No one is perfect, neither is a company. Let's get on with life... it really isn't that big of a deal.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
Yea why not go with it expediter service. they send you a new rod first, and they pay for shipping and the tube to send it back. Seems like less hassle to me. I would even pay 65 dollars to do it 2-day.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
Loomis (Shimano) should offer replacement rods at Authorized dealers. Yea and why not just pay 50 bucks. Better than 300
