Here is my Doe I got this past Saturday and just random pictures from my stand.

I'm still in my learning stages and my uncle usually does it for us (me and my cousin) but we're trying to learn since I took my meat home in water, ice and salt. I let it soaked for 24 hours. I'm trying my hardest to get the white and silver out. What is the slim film stuff?? But everywhere I cut or trim I find my tendons or white stuff. How do properly process the meat. What if left some white or tendons? I got most out but I'm alway tossing most meat it seems and what I have left are like small stripes and small chucks off the shoulder, even the back legs. I know some of the meat turns like a lighters brown color but I read that's normal due to water and blood. Is this true? I believe I cleaned my meat better this time than my last one and that seems and tasted fine but it did soak longer last time. What are some cheap excellent filet or processing knives and tools?? I found my fishing filet but it's badly nicked and not all that sharp probably do to the nicks in the blade. I know I need to get and meat tenderizer. Also I don't have a dehydrator to make jerk but my cousin was telling me you can do it in oven?? Anybody try this and got any good jerky or cooking recipes for tenderloin, shoulder(if I don't turn them into the jerky), and the back legs(ham?)?? Would you age and process other game like squirrel, rabbit, turkey??

I got my first deer(doe) this season first thing this morning. I was trying to post a picture but phone is playing games on the site. Shot her with my Traditions Vortek Strikerfire 50cal, 250gr Traditions Smackdown SST. It was a gut shot but a down deer. My uncle and I already got the meat soaking. Wife will be glad to have a heart coming!!

My uncle got one last night. After cleaning it, I took the heart and liver for my wife. We got them all over our trail cams including the looks of a ten point with three legs. From the camera shot looks to be missing a front leg. We got loads of doe on camera with a few bucks that are starting to appear last week. A four pointer by my stand. But I will be moving my stand due to noise. Seems to never fail people either choose to do home projects during season. Yesterday sounded like someone taking an aluminum bat and was hitting against a tree all afternoon till evening when the rain stopped. I'm hoping to get one before bow season ends. I'm trying the slick trick 100 mag this year after all the reviews on here. If can bring one down will be my first bow(crossbow) kill. Next year I'm going to get me a compound. Next weekend I won't be able to hunt but hopefully will be able to get out move stand and set up my muzzleloader. I just got myself the Tradition Vortek strikerfire. I need to get some blackhorn 209 but I don't like the price of it lol. Is there anything remotely close to it half the price? I mean I could just by the Hodgdon, triple 7. Is blackhorn worth the talk I'm hearing?

Local shop or walmart for my 40's local shop for 357 mag. Only found walmart to carry 38 special here so far.

Not sure if mean anything but the strikerfire is reported to win the field & stream best of the best 2014 and golden bullseye muzzleloader of the year award. I will though MD let yall know how I like this gun or not. But I could only compare to an CVA Optima. But to say if these was my reasoning I'll be lying lol. They place I get my guns from had to order them and Triumph was not in stock and didn't want to wait not knowing when they'll be in and my curiosity grew more and more for the strikerfire.

I'm thinking now now I'm going to go with a tradition vortek strikerfire combo scope. I can get a good deal on one.

Do any of you have an Thompson Center preferably the Triumph?? Do you enjoy them?? How would you rate or review them?? I had an CVA Optima and now thinking about the TC Triumph.

Have anyone used these ammo before and do you prefer them?? Would you buy them again?

I hear great things about code blue but last year had luck with the estrus from Hoosier trapper. It drawn in a nice 6 point buck but my location for it wasn't great. He was behind a tree and brush so couldn't make him out til he went up on top the hill. Sadly I missed placing my shot. Wildgame golden scrape worked for me too.

I read this somewhere just not sure if was here or not but which color headlamp do y'all use entering the woods? I read it somewhere to use green? I try to search here but came up with nothing. I can't remember where or what I read but I think how the white lights they can see but the green, they see it as gray and doesn't spook or as much as white when entering woods due to color blind? If so I'm trying to find where I can buy green led headlamps from? What stores? I only seen white at Walmart but haven't looked elsewhere to be honest.

What I do now is keep my clothes in its tote and get dress before entering the woods. I used scent away but probably will try scent killer this year and I use the wildgames pine spray when I'm in Pine trees.

I have two Wildgame innovations from walmart. One I can't remember, other just the micro infra red. Both was $70. What I do is I have 2 SD cards for each and when the season hit I change out the SD cards on them when leaving out the woods. The micro I bought last year and the other 2 years ago. Both working great still and haven't change batteries yet.

I heard people hunters use this just curious for what, why, and when?? Also I was trying to find out if I should toss out my doe estrus from last year I had for Hoosier trapper and supply??? I heard hunters replace each year should I or us it neccesary??

Does the Quantico require a permit through them like AP Hill does? If so how much? Also for those creeks and Aquia do those three require the MD permit? I always wanted to get out and fish the Potomac for snakeheads and such but never looked into the permit and price?

I just recently moved into the Stafford area from Caroline county and was wondering how are these two lakes for fishing? Does either produce good bass fishing? How about Walleye? I never tried either one and now being down this way I'm thinking about it this year especially I'm only about 15 minutes maybe from Curtis lake.

I think you still have to buy the map packs. You just don't have to pay for Premium if don't want to pay the $49 and get the premium features and packs 2 weeks early. The pack themselves will be $15. I want the Second Assault pack. 4 maps from BF3 like Operation Metro. If you haven't got your copy yet Caylub or anyone elselook for the BF4 with the bonus China Rising pack. Walmart round here still had a few copies of it still. Same price as regular BF4. Cause otherwise you will have to buy China Rising separate off PSN.

If I'm not using my crossbow, I'm using a muzzle loader from my stand. We're not allowed rifles in my county where I hunt but are allowed to continue using muzzle loaders after black powder ends. I want a compound to learn and would like to hunt with. I just don't like the fact when I'm buying my hunting license you have to buy either both or just one or the other to hunt with for the season. $17 for each, crossbow and compound is ridiculous to me. I know one shot was placed over the back but where you think you placed the second one? If was low have you consider the arch?

Yea I got BF4 now for PS3, I started the campaign cause our internet keeps going down and kicking me off line. I tell you the shaky environment makes aiming a little tough, lol. That one level where they had grenade launchers got on my nerves. I just wish they would make the attachments for your weapons optional where you can pick and change. Unless I'm missing something in campaign? Hopefully the internet will work today where I can give multiplayer a shot. I need to purchase some map packs. Bringing back some BF3 maps for multiplayer is awesome. Now id COD can catch into that and do the same? It would crazy good if they would do a best of maps pack and revised some of the greatest maps from each game before the last.

AreWeFishingYet- What part of Ladysmith? With you mentioning ponds and lakes in the neighborhood I'm guessing Lake Land Or or Lake Caroline? I use to live in Bowling Green which is in Caroline county if never been. My mother still lives out there. Now I am in Stafford behind the Geico on 17. I use to fish and recommend you going and getting your AP Hill permit. If still the same price it was $20 but you'll need your Va fishing license and be able to pass a background check. Allot of the fishing ponds and lakes but only a few are you can fish from shore without much limitations like Beaverdam pond and Fish Hook lake. I wasn't a fan of Fish hook I think it's more for pan fish if anything. There were some ponds that I was looking to hit but you need more like a small jon boat that you can carry by hand or kayak. Some of the ponds and lakes in there do have an boat ramp. If ever try in there with boat I recommend Travis lake upper I think. It's the one with the ramp. Bowies pond, Smoots, and White lake. I wish I tried Laser range pond. Beverdam has a ramp as well but when I fished it you didn't need a boat. You can walk the whole pond no problem besides the tall grass. Bowie, Smoot's lower, and Whites lake you can get fish and launch a boat outside of AP Hill. You will still need your permit and Smoot's, White's lake requires you to call to see if open due to sometime training in those areas. Also Caroline Pines in CC has excellent ponds and lakes. I use to fish them all the time till they fenced the main lake in. I'm not even sure if can even put a boat in there now. This year I'm looking forward to trying to Curtis lake and possibly Mott's run. I would definitely keep an eye out on Craiglist for a boat or jon boat. Especially jon boat. Never buy new. I did and my goodness I could of saved a fortune if didn't.
