  1. Being from Illinois as well, I've experienced the same thing. I'm not sure what the deal is.
  2. I like the Bombers in some of the ponds I get to fish at. It's nice because on the right day there is about 30+ in the sin bin at Wally World. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_61257_100005001_100000000_100005000_100-5-1
  3. I found 5-7 bags $2.99-$3.99 and 25% off burried at the bottom of a pile at the Gander Mtn. blowout sale today.
  4. Here is a lure retriever, the Bill Dance retriever is in the box next to this product. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_52869_100011000_100000000_100011000_100-11-0

I'd buy about half the bombers for full retail, no use in buying 40 for full price. That's just a steal situation. I would buy 5 more of the Berkley rods for full price as well

  7. I talk dirty to the fish. They like it.
  8. Thanks for the comments guys! I'm definately going to be running somewhere to pick up another jig or five.
  9. My grandpa met a fellow trap shooting and he invited him out to his personal pond that nobody has fished in over 10 years. It's not overly large, you can cast from one bank to another on a fair cast and it stretches a decent way. Anyways, I started off and caught my first bass on a Double Willow BPS Lazer Eye Spinner about 1.5 lbs. Next caught a dink on a 5" trick stick as the bite seemed to drop off. I've repeatedly read Jigs for quality fish, but personally I've only ever lost them. First cast with a random PB&J jig with an * 3.5" Pearl Beaver Craw trailer, 2lber. I was impressed to say the least. Next cast as I hopped it off the bottom to the shallow spawning rock the line felt heavy so the big hook set followed. He kept running as he hit the shallow water..so I threw down my pole and tackeled him New personal best at 4.5lb, up from 3 =) I'll eat my words about never catching a bass on a jig in almost two years, maybe I have been foolish!
  10. It must just be the area I'm fishing, but I bought 25-30 jigs different sizes, colors etc. and I lost all of them over a span of about 2 weeks without a single fish :-? I catch fish all the time on everything but a jig. All I seem to catch is snags /shrug. Vote Senko
  11. <-- Lacon in the summer, but East Peoria/Washington area during school =)
  12. It hit here in Illinois too. I'll be giving it a go tonight and it seems no matter where I fish after a big storm comes through its just hit or miss. Sometimes they are on, other times they are just real tough to find.
  13. Black or White are the most commonly used colors I believe.
  14. No kidding look at the head on that bad boy.
  15. The sound at first will make you go 0.o Hehe, you will get used to it. Just go out in the yard and cast around with it and by the time your done you'll think nothing of it.
  16. Check out the Berkley Lightning Rod Shock Series. Split grip, super light but with a nice backbone. I picked one up this weekend for $40 bucks and it feels 10x nicer than my St Croixs and Shimanos.
  17. Thats a nice lookin fish, good luck trying to get the bass
  18. I just picked up my first Shimano reel (Citica 200E) paired with the newer Berkley Shock Stick and I can really tell a difference. Hell I can almost pitch further with the Citica than casting with my BPS Pro Qualifier ;D
  19. I like to try and start with some top water when I first get to my spot. I'll throw a jitterbug at night or a spook in the morning. If nothing previals I'll then try a buzzbait and if neither of those work, well time for cranks. I usually start out crankin shallow down the banks then fan out then adjust my running depth to try and deflect the bottom. Last, I flip and pitch cover with soft plastics or dead stick a trickstick. Thats just my usual game plan and I'll sometimes swim jigs with grubs, spinners etc. Hope maybe this helped
  20. Press face to keyboard With face on left portion of keyboard, Roll face to the right ...and back Faceroll typing has been known to cause blindness, partial loss of hearing, hair loss and urinary tract infections. Use with caution
  21. Thats a tough one but looks like you had some fun..and got to try out the new Core. Were you throwin the same colors on your jig/crank all night or did you change them up at all?
