  1. Just fish it normally and let me know if you have any lingering concerns.
  2. That's not a normal fishing motion and does not indicate any problem. You can over lube a reel in a number of ways to mask mechanical sounds but in many cases performance actually suffers.
  3. Shimanos are among the simplest to work on. There's no magic or secrets in any of this. It willingness, experience and a few tools. I'll be happy to tend to your reel service needs if you like. I extend a 10% discount off labor to members here. Just supply screen name when sending reels.
  4. What you have listed are all different sizes of the same tip top. The Fuji BFAT is a black top with Alconite ring. Best bang for the buck. A 6 ring size is "standard" while tube size is in 64ths of an inch sometimes converted to mm as well. My guess would be a 4 or 4.5 for an 822 but measuring is best. About 1/8 from the very end.
  5. The Shimano uses a key washer where as lews , abu rely solely on the fit of the AR sleeve to the shaft. There's always some give there and I'm guessing the pressure of the drag star pressing on the sleeve is what you're seeing.
  6. See how it performs under normal fishing conditions. Exchange it if warranted.
  7. Any rod losing guides to a knot is poor quality and not fit for use period. Knots don't damage guides.
  8. If you'd like a quote email me what you're looking for. I do a preliminary quote , then review together to answer questions and discuss options. No obligation unless/until you place a deposit.
  9. Sorry if conclusions were jumped to but we see a lot of that kind of stuff. Go to the introductions thread and tells us about yourself to avoid any more misinterpretations.
  10. Flush the bearings and oil lightly before investing in any after market parts.
  11. 800 and 2000 grit sandpaper and brasso polish. The goal is not to remove material only polish the surface.
  12. Too much emphasis is put on high speed tools. 80% of the Tuning I do is by hand.
  13. This is the best way to address the issue. Worst case scenario replacing the spool is easy.
  14. Theres no way that housing could deform a bearing. Either you got a dud (happens) or something else is at play
  15. The OP says you upgraded the bearings. Is this a new one?
  16. Don't put grease anywhere near your spool. Lightly oil the tension spacers. Provide your screen name and I extend a 10% discount for members here. If the reel is clean and I find something simple I'll correct it and pro rate the labor.
  17. Something isn't assembled correctly. Can't say what without seeing it
  18. Spot on .ghoti. There's no magic to any of it.
  19. Welcome first of all. 2 of the 3 reel you have are on the same platform so similar performance can be expected. Some level of sound should be expected from modern light weight reels. If what you're experiencing is normal or not can't be diagnosed without seeing it. Since its multiple reels across brands I wouldn't worry too much. Send them in if you'd like and mention your BassResource.com screen name to get 10% off labor.
  20. I handle a steez rod that fits that description but I don't recall the model. I know some blanks that fit if it comes to that.
  21. If the finish is all that is disturbed it's functionally fine. I find that the more you fuss with finishes you tend to make matters worse. If you feel the need to address it, buff it out best you can with some car wax and call any remaining scars "character ".
  22. Down locking= tightens down from the top (tip) up locking = tightens up from the bottom (butt)
  23. Seats can be installed down locking or up locking. It's totally preference and has no affect on performance beyond that.
