  1. back! We have many small waters in our area that can only be fish from a small craft like your crawdad. They produce some nice fish. How did you make out with your bearing search? Let me know if I can hep you out.http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
  2. Rhino is right about the guides purpose, here is how that is achieved. When we build a rod, we start with one guide for each foot of rod length +1 not including tip. We attach the guides temporarily and static test to see how the line travels through the guide when the rod is under load. What you want to see is the line off the blank and flowing through the guides in an arch matching the rod blank. If we can accomplish this with fewer guides, we remove them and save the weight. Regardless of budget, I'd suggest bringing a spooled reel you plan to mount when rod shopping if possible. Mike
  3. Josh! There is a forum for Other Species with some good stuff if you want to check it out.

  11. I would suggest soaking bearings in lighter fluid/camp stove fuel repeatedly until the fluid remains clear. Set them on a paper towel to draw out as much as possible. Spin them on the end of a sharpened pencil and let sit for a while. Lube lightly and give another spin.

  14. In general, oil bearings and grease gears. Always be sure to completely remove old lube to prevent possible compatibility issues. One drop of light oil on the spool bearing races is sufficient. Use only a specifically designed drag grease on drag washers. Feel free to PM if you need a hand. Mike

  18. I don't see a part #3235 on that schematic. Part #3529 is the side plate assembly which has a shaft built in. Is that what broke?
  19. This is what I was saying but a little more detailed. If you want to, give me a call when you attempt again: 973-459-2835 Mike
  20. It's hard to say without seeing the reel or a schematic. If there is a dial or Knob it should be for a magnetic brake. Make sure that the the dial is on the lowest setting and the brake is in the same position. Does the dial have a clicker?
  21. Good quality components can be assemble and hand fit for a spinning rod suitable for bass fishing for about $85. Top of the line SC V graphite blank, titanium alconite guides and premium reel seat can be done for $190. Butt wraps, decals etc can all be added at additional cost. You choose wrap color, grip style and length, power and action of rod. IMHO once get above $200 on a production rod, your paying for brand and marketing and have limited choices. Mike
  22. Have you checked the site here under articles, tips & tactics? The most common are there with decent diagrams.
  23. TW has a SOL for $209. Here:http://www.***.com/catpage-RLSDAIWA.html
