I'm looking to purchase a nice spinning rod for my father that's going to be a good all around rod for tossing things like weightless plastics all the way up to small cranks and flukes and things of that sort. I was looking at the Shimano Cumara spinning rods, can anyone recommend me a nice all around model?

My cousin recently purchased an Optima marine battery from Bass pro shops hoping to get more run time out of a nice battery than we get from the old ones the local lake has. He purchased the biggest model I think the D31M but we've been pretty let down by it, It only lasts a little more than the other batteries if not less! We've been charging it on maintenance free on 2A and the charger has a gauge to tell when its fully charged. Did we just get bad battery or is there something we are failing to do or possibly didnt do? And we are not in a boat but a Jon.

What made you start looking for other options from Yo-zuri, just curious? I kind of noticed and it might have been how I spooled the line onto the reel but I noticed that deeper into the spool the line seemed to have lots of kinks and things of that sort, the line just did not feel smooth. And have you used Trilene 100% and if so how would you compare that to the Seaguar? Great post btw

So for people that have used both would it be foolish to NOT get the STX for the extra 30 dollars? I'm strongly debating on whether or not to go Shimano or just get an Abu for now just because of the sweet deal they have with the Wiley-x's.. Because I also do not own a pair of polarized glasses. Anyone? I'm trying to get started on my rod collection for at the moment I only have a cranking rod and a jig rod, does this rod look good for an all around topwater rod? Would there be better choices or ways to spend my money IYO?

I'm looking to get a 7:1 Gear ratio reel to throw on a topwater setup for the time being and was looking at different options. I already own a curado E7 and love it, but I'm open to other options also. I've heard good things about the SX, and the new model this year looks great. I was also looking at the STX, is the STX > SX by a large margin? Would it be foolish to not purchase the STX for the extra 30 dollars if I were to go the Abu garcia route instead of Shimano? Any input is really appreciated

Has anyone fished with these yet? I'm thinking about getting a new topwater set up and was looking at these, I was looking at the TWR773C specifically but am open to comments. Would the TWR864C handle spooks and things of that sort better?
