Let's discuss hook keepers
The only time I put the keeper in the split grip is on a dropshot rod. For my personal rods, they are also the only rods that have a split grip. I like that hook keeper placement, for that application, more than I dislike split grips. Don't take that the wrong way, that I don't like split grips. they're OK, just not my thing. Plus, split grips take away a large part of the canvas for what I do best, cool cork stuff.

Line guide is groovy
That is even more strange, but I guess possible. I've hade many W T F were they thinking moments while deconstructing rods for repair.

Line guide is groovy
I was thinking the same thing. You see it the other way all the time and I've been guilty of it too, as much as I hate using metal ringed guides. When the customer wants them, I insist on a ceramic tip.

Line guide is groovy
Possibly. I just don't wanna get caught on my phone all day. Worst tip i ever encountered. Abu Villain. Not just tips groove either. Fenwick with SS304 guides. Stripper. Transition.

Line guide is groovy
I'm at work and have to sneak peeks at the boards through the day.

Line guide is groovy
You beat me to it.

Line guide is groovy
All lines will collect contaminates from the water and wear steel ringed guides. The best tip I can give is when you LIGHTLY heat the old tip, DO NOT twist the guide when pulling it off.

Loose reel seat?
^^^^ this. I've done several by drilling holes. The biggest being a Mojo Musky rod and it held fantastically.

Get cheap tungsten here!!??
And it is a very rocky reservoir.

Get cheap tungsten here!!??
I have. And the next day I fished the exact same milk run and didn't lose a single one. Must have been some odd currents.

Sealing a small spot on a rod
I would put a black or grey thread wrap over the area and apply rod finish.

Get cheap tungsten here!!??
As much as I'd love to try tungsten, I have a hard time paying over $1.00/weight. I've been known to lose over 40 on a bad day. I was only out about $3 for swivel clips since I make my own lead weights.

Drop shot hook suggestions?
Maybe it was a bad pack, but after breaking 2 Gammie DS hooks fighting fish, I gave them all away and started using Owner Mosquitos. Haven't had any issues with them. I use 1/0 to 8 depending on how bulky the bait is.

How Important is Building on the Spline?
No. The crooked guides were as a result of the spine not being on the straightest axis. When you looked down the rod, the guides curved to one side, following the curve of the blank.

How Important is Building on the Spline?
Straightest axis for me. I built 2 rods on the spine. On both, the customers complained of "crooked" guides. I ended up rebuilding them. Those were the LAST 2 rods I've ever built on spine.

acrylics
There's a learning curve. First couple went great for me. Then I blew one up while boring. Definitely need to bore slow at low speeds!!

How do you load your boat: Powerload or Winch?
He said blowout hole! Lol. Sorry, the inner 10 year old got the best of me..

How do you load your boat: Powerload or Winch?
I posted this in the other thread too. I can't call what I do power loading, but I only have to crank the winch about 2"-3". The trailer is backed in just far enough that I can idle almost to the winch post. I climb over thef trolling motor and on to the trailer, hook up the strap and crank the last couple inches. Climb back in the boat and hop out on the dock.
