  1. While we're at it, lets call my barber to check my checking balance
  2. Well, the 17 creditors named in the filing may disagree.
  3. Kinda. I want to built it more like one of the aluminum winding checks I like to use, but if you like the more gradual transition, I'll do it like that.
  4. http://www.tackleworks.org Chances are, when you get a quote to R&R all of the guides, you'll opt to find another new rod.
  5. I pondered the same think on a Kistler thread on ***.( the other bass board that keeps getting censored )
  6. Actually it doesnt. It's one more USA made product off the market. Imagine if it was St Croix? They have been in trouble before too, but rebounded. I'm no businessman, but here's my take on NFC. They were doomed from the start. They brought a high priced product to market without the support of a production rod in stores for people to shake and feel. They were banking on Gary's name to sell them. Two kickstarters to bring new products to market after being established in the industry? That just smacks of a company in trouble. When was the last time you saw a Sage kickstarter? St Croix? Shimano? Winston, Scott, Talon? Never. That 50% sale sounds like they were trying to reduce inventory in preperation for this.
  7. I agree. And I love seeing reels with the handles on the correct side!
  8. Now it all makes sense! :https//www.inforuptcy.com/filings/wawbke_636009-3-16-bk-44188-north-fork-composites-llc Good luck with a warranty claim!
  9. Base boat, no options. Lund was $72k. That was MSRP. I'm sure it could be had for less. And that's why I still have my 2005 17' Lund!!
  10. Hard to say which is better. I think the Ranger would handle heavy water better because it's a deeper V. I think the Lund would draft shallower. I priced both last fall with a Yamaha F300 and the Ranger was $1000 cheaper.
  11. I really like the 621, but what I like more is how careless I can be with my tin. I think my next boat will be a 2175 Pro-V.
  12. There is a rear deck extension for the 621 with a pedestal seat base in it.
  13. Look at a 621 of you want to stay with Ranger. I'm partial to Lunds and if I was in your shoes, I'd be looking hard at a 2075 Tyee. IMO, the multi species boats are way more family friendly than bass boats. You are IN the boat, not ON the boat.
  14. The way I'd tackle that would be eliminate the foregrip all together. I'd then trim the reel seat threads flush with the front of the locking nut. If the existing winding check is too small to slide to the seat, I'd remove it too. I'd then build an epoxy ramp to transition from blank to seat. Now, the ugly area where I removed the cork and thread......I'd do some sort of decorative wrap to cover. This would be the easiest way to keep from stripping the entire rod.
  15. Despite what the label on the rod says, I have never met a fast or XF ultralight. They all feel like moderates in my hands. With power that light, it's difficult to discern the difference because they all flex almost to the handle.
  16. Guides with ceramic inserts are sized by the ID of the metal frame.
  17. I've examined NRX's in Cabelas and Field & Stream......no different. The NRX's that came across my bench were not blems, seconds or discounts. They were bought from a retailer by one of my good customers. Every one of them looked just like the pics BBF posted. I also took pics at the time they were in my possession but I am unable to locate them at this time (800+ pics of various rods on my phone). I'm not just picking on NRX. I'm an equal opportunity basher if nothing else. I don't discriminate and have posted all of these findings at one time or another. I may be a St. Croix fan boy, but I posted up pics of 25 OEM fly rods that were bought to resell at a show. Footballs just like the Cashion, all the way out, on double foot snake guides. Talk about ugly and unnecessary added weight. I've had high end Sage's come in looking the same way. When I do the repair, it looks out of place cause I can't bring myself to create a football on a guide. My dislike for Cashion may only be rivaled by my hatred for Abu. They make up 75% or more of my repairs. So many broken guides. Their 'top-of-the-line' Villain is actually a 2 piece rod glued together at the handle. Speaking or rods being spliced, I've encountered multiple Shimano rods with a splice under the stripper guide. On to Kistler. There was always rumors that there was inconsistencies in their models. Buy a 703 this month and it's a different rod than it was 3 months ago. They were sourcing blanks from multiple vendors, which isn't a big deal as long as it's the same action/power. You would think however, they would remove the manufacturers sticker from the blank before assembling. One rebuild revealed/confirmed one of the rumored blank suppliers. I stripped off the rear grip to uncover a Rainshadow decal. Tore into a Dobyns to do a handle extension for one guy. Did you know that pretty butt cap is actually a 2" long piece of steel epoxied into the end, apparently for balance? Every company has their dirty little secrets
  18. Well, practice makes perfect. Maybe they built enough to get good at it? All I can say for sure is the only Cashions that will ever be in my rod rack are ones in for repair. Same can be said for NRX!
  19. It most certainly does given the price point of them. You wouldn't accept a blemish in the paint on a new BMW, why accept less than perfection from a supposed high end rod?
  20. Could be the fact yours was customized slightly, more care was taken. Every one I've seen/worked on has looked like this one.
  21. 2 negative for Loomis, but thst wasnt the question. Every NRX I've worked on had poor wraps, but didn't have the excess finish on all of the guides like a Cashion. Every wrap was a football. Pretty poor winding check fit. The other one looked the same.
  22. From a fit and finish standpoint, they are one of the worst I've ever seen. Some say I'm bashing them when I say that. I say I'm just offering my opinion on what I've seen come across my bench.
  23. Use a short arbor in the front and back of the seat and leave the windows open so the blank shows through.
