  1. shamster, welcome dude. do yourself a favor and buy some Stanley Ribbit frogs and the zoom 5/0 horny toad twistlock hooks. just toss em, reel em in, set the hook with your rod to the 12 oclock position like you're trying to pull china through the ground, and hold on. this way you can catch fish on topwater while you learn to walk the dog with a spook ;D should be some real nice fishin over there.
  2. it takes mad patience. become one with the popper, give it life
  3. i can definitely see him as a dj. he's like one of the beastie boys
  4. i'd season some roughy fillets (any flakey whitefish)with seasoned salt, pepper then spray fillets a bit with pam or whatever oil (except olive) then roll them in flour and throw them in a seasoned skillet with a bit more oil till edges are crispy but middle is flakey. splash with lemon and serve with pbr and tater tots
  5. sounds exciting man! is that a real madrid jersey you're sportin?
  6. throw an 8" junebug zoom lizard on a carolina rig till you can't physically afford to do so anymore.
  7. makes total sense. thanks for sharing.
  8. Cool story http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20100516/SPORTS08/5160327/1127 i love the dialogue via text messaging with his dad
  9. where u from? i've never fished enid but have buddies that do and have been catchin em there on frogs and swimming senkos. i'd fish the backs of creeks and coves where you find flooded grass. that grass is filtering out mud and silt, clearing the water. find the clearest water. and fish lizards, swimming senkos and most importantly, frogs!
  10. what size is this swimbait hook? try a 5/0 twistlock, like zooms horny toad hook. if you rig em right, they shouldn't turn over on the retrieve. if they do, stop reeling for a second and they should flip back over. this is all from my experience with Ribbits. never fished the cold steel last hop. if they do keep flippin over and you can't stand it, try these in the 5/0 http://www.crucialtackle.com/fishing_hooks.html. other than that, i find a huge amount in difference between using a heavy action rod and a med-heavy with frog fishing.Heavy is key. length of your rod is also to be considered. 7'3"-7'6" is ideal. these ideas, along with using braid should resolve your problem. as far as hollow body frogs, you got the right idea poppin it across grass and any other thick vegetation with sparse spots of water.i've had luck using them in open water fishing them like a popper, only moving them alot more so they can't get a good look at it. i'm like you though and have better luck with buzz frogs. hollowbody's time and place is alot less frequent than a buzzfrog's time and place. if you rig a ribbit weightless, you can fish it very slow without it sinking and still have those paddle legs churning. hope this helps
  11. i would start chunkin a Carolina rig to get it out there as far as possible.other than that, I'd just keep doing what you're doing. maybe try and get your hands on a john boat
  12. The jighead is a 1/2-oz Owner Sled Head. Though 1/2oz is on the heavy side, it tends to stabilize the body and helps to penetrate surface slop. I rig the swimbait sidewards which gives it a different action then they're used to, and also provides a less crowded hook-throat for the hook-set. Roger Care to provide pics of this sidewards rig?
  13. There are lots of folks who don't post all the time like others or aren't as popular. But still provide true jewels of wisdom and seem to be overflowing with personality. I'd fish with alot of you guys too.
  14. agreed. i lost it at the end. that subaru is gorgeous
  15. you can see he was reeling it in cause he didn't get bit by those reeds in the back. And if you pay close attention, you'll notice the frog slowed down right when he was about to get to the boat cause he started messin with his oar, then outta nowhere....WHAM!
  16. francho your another guy that'd be fun to fish with i'd imagine...city slicker ;D oh and brokeju, i'd like to kick it with him in the cali delta

  20. awesome pics. i went fishing last weekend and spotted a red fox sniffing around in the woods with sun rays creeping through the shade, flowers and a mother duck with her babies trucking along the bank in case they needed a quick get away into the water. i hated myself for not having a proper camera.
