  5. Net Bait Tmac or GYCB flappin hog....
  6. Nice smallies man!!!
  7. Ive done this too.....not sure if it helps with getting more bites, but it definitely keeps grass and weeds from sticking to the baits. With megastrike on a crank if it comes back with weeds on it a lot of times you can just cast it back out and the junk will fly off on the cast. Big time saver.
  8. Thanks A-Jay.....woke up to snow on the ground today, hopefully I can get a couple more trips in, but if not I've got plenty of jigs to get made before next season!
  9. I have had a couple of really good outings the past three days. Much to my suprise too.....I've never fished this late in the season in previous years assuming that the fish had always moved to deep water that I couldn't reach from the bank. Well I wish I had given it a try before this year. I had been catching good numbers the last few weeks on shallow cranks and spinnerbaits in most of the small lakes that I fish, but with this last cold spell the fish all but stopped hitting these faster moving baits....so on Sunday I decided to just throw a jerkbait the majority of the day. I only managed to land one and hook up on another, but it was still worth braving the cold and the wind. Air temps maxed out in the mid 40's with a stiff south breeze and I'm guessing water temps were in the LOW 40's based on our last weeks weather. Well I went back out today for a while as a strong cold front was rolling in. When I got the the fishing hole air temps were around 52.....by the time I left a couple of hours later the temp was 39. I caught three really nice ones dragging a jig and one smaller fish on an x-rap. The action has definitely slowed with this cold water and I've realized I'm only fishing for a handful of bites each time out now, but man when you do get bit it's worth braving the cold. First fish today Second Fourth and last one of the trip Now hopefully the ice will hold off for a couple of more weeks so I can get a few more like these in!!
  10. Those are some awesome fish you've been posting!! Congrats on some great action.
  11. I'm a quite a bit north of you and fish mostly shallow water as well.....up until about a week ago I was still catching good size and numbers on square bills and spinnerbaits fished on the edges of grass flats and in backs of coves. I didn't have to really slow down until this last cold front, but i've still been catching them....just on jerkbaits and jigs now and most action has come on points and right near the drops into deeper water.

  14. That is awesome Goose!!! I had never kept track of my number of landed fish in a season until this year......I set a goal of 1000 as well, but didn't quite make it. Your record keeping is awesome....do you carry a notepad with you while you fish or just jot stuff down after each trip? Are you using a specific log form? I would love to keep better records in the future....it's been a lot of fun just counting the total number this year let alone lengths weights baits etc.... Good job man!!

The TMac has probably been my best producing shakey head bait this year......can't go wrong with any of the paca craw baits either!
  18. Great job and congratulations!!!! That is one heck of a fish man!
  19. I love the xraps......but I've yet to take the plunge on pointers so that could change, lol.
  20. Beautiful fish!!
  21. I have three or four of the specific baits and colors I have most confidence in......most cranks though I have at least a couple of each.
  22. I just replaced some hooks on a couple of bandits with those and I've been very pleased with them.....they are as good as the gamis I normally use or better, in my opinion.
