  1. :question I have had great succses casting minnow baits. The Long Cast minnow, the Sammy, and Flashminnow all cast great for me. Maybe you ment floating minnows which are light.
  2. I would like to consider my self an athlete! I agrree 100% with Avid's post. Also, having your thumb tore up from lipping bass makes us athletes that play a contact sport.
  3. I also was wondering about this. I guess nawgabassmaster just deleted his account? ?
  4. I like Bill Dance. He seams like a great person. I dont blame him for fishing in private ponds. Catching fish is a great way to get viewers and promote products. I enjoy fishing ponds because their is usually great action. For me the privater, the better. As far as harming the fish, I think that bass are farely tough. What bothers me though, is pulling a big bass off it's bed and taking it far away, where it can no longer protect it's young.
  5. I dont know too much about this but what I would do is just keap a bunch of the small bass and larger bluegill and let the big bass go. I dont think it will hurt to catch some of the spawners, but dont keap them. Let the big ones grow bigger.
  6. Welcome! I am still shore bound most of the time. On shore, somtimes I forget and cast straight out. Most of my strikes come near the shore though. Always try to remember to keap most of your cast in what you feal is the strike zone. Hope that helps.
  7. Would the "Magic Bait" work good just casting in open water about 10ft. deap?
  8. Congradulations!
  9. Definiton of a sport : Recreational or competitive activitie that involves a degree of physial strength or skill. I think that fishing fits the definition of a sport perfectly. Not only is fishing a sport, i feel it is the best sport America has.
  10. I can relate to your frustration. Just try to keap it simple; if you catch fish with a certain presentatin, try to remember it. When your fishing next time and the conditions are basically the same, just catch um how you caught them the last time. Good Luck! > Welcome to the forums!
  11. I use EWGs for basically all my worm fishing, so after I poke the hook through the top, I just barely skin it into the top of the worm. To answer your question; a sharp hook and a Bill Dance hookset.
  12. I read it at school today......LOL. You had me till the end; very well written! I was also thinking of going and buying out the stores! ;D
  13. As said earlyer, This site is a great source of information. Here is a link to help you subscribe to bassmaster : http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/index
  14. I think that the smallmouth is obviously a better fighter than the largemouth. They seem to have a stronger will than largemouth. Not to change the topic, but Steelhead also put up an energetic fight! :-X

Still not hooking up?? Well now it is time to foget plastics and go with a rapala floating minnow size 11. With three sharp treble hooks in there face, the bass will have more of a problem spitting the bait out.

I would recommend using an extra wide gap hook. A 3/0 EWG fits perfectly in a baby brushog. Im not sure how you rig it exactly, but try rigging the hook so that the top of the hook where the point is just barely skins the top of the brush hog. I use the tiny brush hogs in ponds, with a 1/0 EWG. I have no problem hooking them with that size. Good Luck!
  17. I definetley nead to minimize the amount if tackle I carry around. "As a fisherman gets smarter, his tackle box gets smaller."
  18. I got 3 copies sent to me last year, so I will probably get one again this year. Cant wait!!
  19. My personal best is a 5.5 caught in Presque bay.( Bay in lake Erie) I caught her on a Luckcraft flashminnow in american shad. I was just using a stop and go retrieve when she hit. It was early spring, and cloudy. I love catching big smallies! (Great new smilies!)
  20. Intresting. I say its a largemouth. I agree with Chris; If it was a fast growing fish, the body would be bigger than the head and mouth. Another possibility is that this fish might have a genetic alteration. :-/ If it is a spot its a really fat spot!
  21. Im really glad they acknowledged Hayes's record. I also credit Bassmaster for their story, and all the people that wrote in agreement of it.
  22. for all the game reviews. Cabelas outdoor adventures is only $30 at my wal mart, i think ill probably get it. Ill tell you how it is if i get it.
  23. I would like to try it somtime, it couldnt be that bad because it is related to fishing. It would also allow me to not have to go 5 months without cathcing a fish. 8-)
