  1. Yum Dingers seem to be fairly durable. They dont cost that much. You can rig the stickbait backwards when the front tears. You can also heat a nife and melt them back together. Hope that helps.
  2. Try your best to fish the cattails. Thats were the bass will be. A live bluegill free lined should do the trick. Use a size 8 or 10 hook to catch the small bluegill. Also try 4inch stick baits rigged weadless without a weight. You could also try a road runner spinner along the rocks. Small T-rigged baits should also produce bass for you. Good Luck!
  3. Fishing for bass with hot dogs, creative, but no. I was fishing once with limited supplys and caught a nice bass on a piece of a tore up brush hog rigged wacky style. I am pretty sure that you can get a fish to hit almost anything. The gummy worm idea might be somthing to try. They are a lot cheaper than senkos and might be affective. Id probably eat them all my self though. :
  4. I have to say that my biggest bass from a pond was only about 2lbs. I have seen a 3lber caught in one of the ponds that I fish, but haven't hooked one yet. I nead to find a pond that produces bigger fish.
  5. Yeah, I hate it when I hook fish deap with this rig. Use a longer rod to help you set the hook quicker. Set the hook right away. If you miss the fish because you jerk it away from them, a lot of times they will hit again.
  6. I am pretty sure that the bass change colors to blend in with their surroundings. Then the bass are less likely to get ate.
  7. On the Woo's Clues DVD he is banging logs with a crankbait. He didnt catch a bass till he bounced his bait on the log. Kevin Vandam's Spinnerbait DVD : He bumps his spinnerbait off the dock pilings to catch bass. He also catches a nice smallie while bumping his spinnerbait down a log. Both anglers stressed that it is important for their bait to have contact with the cover. It must create a reaction strike. I never tried it because I dont fish wood hardly at all.
  8. Kinami Flash : Yamamoto Senko Same bait or not? Does any one know?
  9. Rig the finness worm on a jig head. 1/8oz is what I use. Simply wind the worm in slowly across the bottom. You can also twitch the worm in slowly. Try both methods. You can also fish finness worms on drop shot rigs. Use a heavyer wieght for this rig. KVD caught an 11 lb. 15oz bass on a finness worm on a jig head. Have confidense in it and I think you will like finness fishing.
  10. Great idea. I may have to try that. I might also heat a knife and melt the slit back together.
  11. Texas rigs getting snagged! That must be some dense weads! Solution: Fish the open water with a Popper or small spook type bait. Fish them slowly. No strikes, switch to 4 inch stickbait on 1/0 hook. Rig weadless without wieght. Fish it slowly across the top of the weads. No strikes, rig the stickbait wacky style. Make sure to fish the wead edges, and shady areas. If you dont catch any the bass may be down in the super thick weads. My last resort would me a small worm T-rigged with a heavy tungsten bullet sinker pegged. I would try to penetrate the weads with that. Try to snag the bait on some bass's face. Good Luck!
  12. Yeah, fishing fast with stickbaits is a big mistake. When I started using them I fished them way to fast. You get a lot more strikes if you just let them sink. When you fish them fast they don't have that sinking action that the bass like. Extra:> My cousin and I went fishing tuesday. Are goal was 10 bass. I caught 9 and he caught 1. 6 of mine were caught on a wacky rigged Gulp sinking minnow.
  13. The three way swivel rig is used because in some areas the drop shot is not allowed. I am not posotive but I remember reading that some where. I dont think that it would work as good with a leader attached to the hook and worm. :-/
  14. Bassball! Thats creative! I usually keap count while I am fishing but haven't made a game out of it. Great idea!
  15. My uncle has a bass decoy. He hangs it out the side of the boat while we are fishing. The bass always swim right towards it.... after they are hooked and pulled towards it. : He is crazy. I guess a lot of time on the water will do that to you. ;D
  16. Poor Boys Baits : Number = (260) 367- 2463 website = http://www.poorboysbaits.com/
  17. I know what you are talking about. Those weads can be a major pain for a bank angler. Try to position yourself so you can keep your bait near the edge of the weads. I would use a Texas rigged worm or weadless frog. The fish are still catchable if you can get your bait to them. If you are not getting strikes from bass, try for bluegill. Panfish can be fun too.
  18. I would definetley try a moss mouse or frog on top of the scum. A buzz bait is a good bait for the edges of the weads. The Texas rigged worm is also a good bait to try. If that does not draw strikes switch to a 4 inch worm t-rigged. Fish right in the cover. Have fun!
  19. Yeah, someone owns those ponds but lets anyone fish there if they pay their three dollars. I am just thankfull they let people fish there.
  20. I think some people just want another way of abtaining money. Two of the ponds that I go to are pay ponds. The fee is only 2 and 3 dollars. I don't mind paying it.
  21. Did you see any fish? Any signs of fish life at all? If you go again, fish in all the weads you can. This looks like one of those lakes where you almost half to have a boat. Solution : Find all areas where it is possible to make a cast from the bank. A short rod may help with casting. I would use a zoom tiny brush hog in watermelon red rigged with a 1/0 EWG Gammy red hook and a 1/8 ounce slip sinker unpegged. A white spinnerbait would also be a good bait to try. Cast into and around any weeds, or other cover. there may be other cover on the bottom that you cant see. Still no fish, I would tie on a worm rival (available at wal-mart) and see if i can get some small bass or bluegill. Good Luck!
  22. A lot of times what the other bass is doing is trying to get part of his dinner. It has happend to me where the one bass spits out my bait and the other bass nabs it right away. EXCITEMENT!
  23. This is the FLW tube bait. I know for sure. I know that Wal- Mart has FLW stuff but i am not sure if they have the tube.
  24. The Slop! Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's?
