yes I know what you mean, i hate the swept handles. I ordered the skeet reese handle for my and haven't looked back since. If they no longer carry the skeet handle. the winch or toro handle is the same. it's like $20 from pure fishing

yeah I held one at the local tackle shop and holy crap was it light. this particular one wasn't the smoothest as I've felt in other revos. maybe a cleaning and re-lube would wake it up. with every revo i've had which has been an sx a stx and a premier, has felt incredible out of the box and up to about 4 months worth of usage and then the gears get to whining on the retrieve. maybe another material is used in the gearset on the mgx. I personally don't feel that the duralumin used is up to the task.

my buddy at the local tackle shop gave me a demo spool of maxima 25# flouro to test out. he said their rep says it's the smoothest, limpest on the market but I'd have to argue that I'm pretty sure every rep says that about their brand. I spooled some up on my cara amistad and curado 200e and I guess it's OK. I'll be using it for flipping heavy cover with larger creature baits and jigs. I don't find it any better than invisx 25#. I guess most 25# flouros are gonna be similar to winch cable anyway. Does anyone have any experience with this brand of line and what are your opinions?

while i probably haven't had any more breakoffs with the palomar on flouro than any other knot, it's the fact that i've heard it's not good and that lowers my confidence in it. I prefer the trilene, improved clinch, or the double san diego jam.

bud, it's gonna take more than a quarter. I have 3 ozs of bullet weights stuffed in the but end of my carrot stick 7'9" x/heavy and i feel like it could use one more.

i'm going with the cara and like another uses said the avid feels tip heavy. I have the cara amistad and i absolutely love it but don't count the bucoos out, they're fine rods and i think they perform well above what their price dictates. maybe it's just me but i "think" all of my micro rods are a little more sensitive, especially on soft bites. if I don't feel the bite, i can sometimes hear the line slap the guides. take that as you wish.

yeah i keep em sprayed down with KVD. i'm not complaining about the lines at all. these are the 2 best flourocarbon lines that i've used. I think that the heat from staying in my truck for days at a time during the summer is what's doing them in which would be my fault. I just notice a lot of people complaining about flouro breaking off and I'd be willing to bet that they're not taking care of it like they should or not taking the proper precautions when tying their knot. any way looks like it's time to buy some line. thanks for all the replies men.

yeah that's what i figured but that's how long it's been on there. It hasn't gotten a ton of usage in that time. significantly less than the spools before. i think that because it sits in my hot car during the summer that the heat and magnified sinlight might dry it out and make it brittle. who knows. time to respool.

this very well could be my own fault, I'd just like to ask anyway. I'm having frequent break offs on all of my flouros. i'm using tatsu in 20 and 15 and sunline sniper in 14 and 20. how long does flouro last. i've been spooled up now with these for about 4-5 months. does heat and direct sun make flouro more brittle? my rods stay in my vehicle sometimes. I'm using mostly the double san diego jam knot with the improved clinch thrown in there too and just breaking off like crazy and I'm not a hard hook setter. this definitely seems to be an issue with the line. I'm just trying to figure out if i caused the issue by leaving my rods in my tahoe sometimes in the heat. thanks in advance guys.

the way I see it is that you have 3 options. you could buy a citica which is a great little reel, or you could wait til the g series curados start hitting the stores( they come in 5,6.5 and 7:1, or you could do what I did and order the citica yoke, pinion, and drive gear from shimano for like 20 bucks or so. i hated the e5 for the longest until it got deep cranking season here in louisiana. now i absolutely love it. but there's no way i'd give up my 7:1 reels. just as other users have said, they're way to versatile. hope this helps

I traded with a site member for a 150 sized 7.3 ratio and I can tell you that in my opinion that there is not a better trap casting reel on the planet. it has good line capacity for super long casts and is smooth on the retrieve. I don't know how long an aluminum drive gear will last but i just installed one along with a new pinion gear so we'll see. the set is $30 from zebco. the acs breaking system is pretty effective but can become pretty finicky at the lower settings. don't even try it on free spool!!! as for weight, I'm completely amazed. I'm not going to jump the shimano ship for quantum but i do think that this is a well made, high quality reel that i would recommend to anyone. I'm looking at getting a 100 sized one in the future. hope this helps.

there are no carbs on this motor but there are about 5 filters on this motor if i recall correctly and i think they need servicing yearly. sounds like one could be clogged. the recalls available pretty much turn this motor into a series 2

at 50-75 feet i would think anything is gonna feel like it like it will have some stretch. but to answer your question i think tatsu will have less stretch than invisx and will be definitely more manageable.

actually its rated for a 175 and i have one with a xr6 150 and i no i would not be happy with a 125

that's what i was thinking. the boat sounds like it might be heavy. like others have said, I think you should work on the set up and leave the motor alone.

I'll tell you what. I am a shimano fan true and through, but I won a pflueger trion a couple of months ago as a door prize at a local tourney and I am impressed. I was actually shocked at how smooth, light, and palmable it was. It does have centrifugal cast control and it is not finicky between lures like many other mag. controlled pure fishing reels. I would definitely buy one if I needed another reel

I don't care if they've hit the stores yet. It doesn't take a genius to figure out whats going on here. whether it was done for economical reasons for the company or what ever, its blatantly transparent. maybe the reels will perform well, actually I know they will. it's just that what has been done seems shady to me for what ever reason it was done. I'm no kid and I don't claim to be an expert. a forum is based on personal opinion right?

The new chronarch is exactly a curado 200 e7. what do we get more for $20 bucks in the choronarch. this is a huge slap to the face to me.
