  1. Hold it out the window on the way to the lake. squeak that thing up.
  2. I like those walmart spinnerbaits, however i never fish them without customizing them to my liking or for a technique/situation.
  3. I have to start fishing wire leaders with my worms because the pickerel are nuts for em, especially with a fast snake like retrieve. The wire adds a little weight to the fall to.
  4. With all the inline spinner fishing i have done in the river, i have never caught a catfish on it. But you got different cats down south there.
  5. My inflatable kayak failed me today. Its a sevylor k5. Has been great all year until this point. The leak is in the ballast chamber and i think its on one of the seams. Its guaranteed not to leak so im gona call tomorrow to discuss the warantee. Good thing i was at the pond and not the lake. It was getting bad out there.
  6. I like a white grub trailer on a white spinnerbait. The trailer adds more bulk and the big fish will crush it.
  7. Plano guide series binder with bags.
  8. Also try slug-gos, they have a great action for this technique.
  9. Thats big water. Ive never been but i have seen Winnipesaukee get real bad on a good day, a bass boat is almost too small except in the morning.
  10. Something about that fluke presentation can be very troublesome sometimes, unless the fish are really ripping the bait on the strike.
  11. Down at the river and in the woods around here there are many many ticks. Last year when i hiked down to the river to carp fish i would use bug spray on my ankles and legs and that keeps the suckers off. It takes at least 24 hours for a deer tick to transmit lyme disease. Around here there are dog ticks and deer ticks which are smaller. I pulled a deer tick off me this year after about 12 hours. The bite mark went away without complication. Keep a close eye on your bite marks and if they get worse see your doctor for doxycycline. I think the woods with a deer population are the worst places for getting ticks.
  12. I got my package with a couple bags of those classic ribbontail worms. I remember when the senko craze really broke out in the mid 00's. I started using senkos and knockoffs and got away from the old ribbontail worm. I haven't used the worm since then- till this year. I broke out an old pack of FLW curly tails on a new lake, and started catching bass. My new ribbontails are 7'' grape, and 10" black/blue. I know how to fish worms but i would like to hear how you fish ribbontails; do you use a weight? Is it okay to use ewg hooks?
  13. Seems most everyone uses a MH rod. I have found that my bite to catch ratio is way up with a M power rod. The fish can really load onto it before you set the hook, so your not pulling the hook too fast like with a MH rod.
  14. I had good luck with a black and blue skirt double colorado silver and gold blades the other day. Black and blue isn't just a color for jigs.
  15. I used my new rod today. Caught bass and pickerel on a spinnerbait and chatterbait. I also fished some other baits. The light weight of it is a huge upgrade over my previous rod. I can cast and cast much more easily, and its easy to handle. Like the microguides and my cast distance. One negative is that the trigger you put your fingers around is kind of small, i would prefer a longer one. Its my first rod with a split grip. When i gut the rod i can feel the vibration on my gut. Didn't notice that with my other rod. The finish is matte. Good rod but we'll see how it holds up over time.
  16. 7' medium. Im not gona get to use it tonight because there are severe thunderstorms to the west, but ill update this thread after i use it.
  17. I recieved my new quantum rod today. Can't wait to try it out this evening. Its light and ergonomic.
  18. Somethings not right here. Im using the clips that came with the blades. Each blade has 3 holes. I managed to get a clip on thru the bottom and top hole, but the clip is not able to swing around its just like tightly fixed on there. And i had to bend it to get it on. I tried to do another jig and the clip broke. Maybe i need a much smaller clip.
  19. For example, my key pattern this year is a black chatterbait on the edge of windblown lilly pads. You could find a different pattern everyday, but some days there is no clear pattern at all. some patterns can be applied to similar waters.
  20. So i got my *** shipment today, and along with some spinnerbaits and frogs i got the blades for making chatterbaits out of any old jig. But its the damndest thing i can't get the clip onto the blade!! Do you have to take apart the clip and bend it up? How do you get the clip on the blade while preserving the integrity of the clip? I don't really like the idea of those clips on chatterbaits anyways, i have had clips like that fail on big fish before. It has to be something easy that im missing. thanks.
  21. I have come to realize that the thought of fishing pressure is zapping my confidence, and maybe thats why im not catching as many fish in the big lakes that get hit hard by bass boats as i am in small ponds with cartop access. All my big bass this year have come from ponds, and 0 big bass in lakes with bass boat access. Is fishing pressure a real threat to my fishing? Or is it mental, im constantly thinking, "oh a fish won't hit this because they are pressured". Wut 2 do?
  22. This was my first outing with power pro, i had been using spiderwire stealth. Was going down a rocky bank hopping a fluke on a jighead off the bottom and i broke off twice on hooksets. It was either rocky snags or pike, i believe it was probably the former. Should this line be snapping on rocks like that? Using palomar knot. The lake killed me today i only managed one bass, and it was on the fluke presentation.
  23. I think im gona pull the trigger on the quantum i mentioned. Casting. The cosmetics are a deal sealer.
  24. Im looking at the Quantum EXO PT. Has an awesome looking finish.
  25. This year i have been bassing. I ususally am out in my kayak, and i only bring one rod. a 7' medium power. But this isn't a great rod i have been using, it came with a cheap casting combo i got years ago. I feel like this cheap rod is mushing and muddling the vibration and feeling of lures/weeds/fish. Its functional and ive had success with it, i just feel there are much better rods i should be using. This rod is a Hurricane brand. The rod i have had in mind is the johnny morris carbonlite micro-guide. Should i get this rod or do you have another suggestion? My budget is up to $200 and i want a 7' medium.
