  1. most of the smallies have left the lake and headed up the tributaries and creeks runiing into dale hollow. that report comes from the guides and kentucky fih n game. we noticed it too when we was down the a few weeks back. pork n jig is working too.
  2. apparently you have used the shock yet. i agree with : BassFishinMagician in his post. I own a variety of rods including GLoomis.
  3. I use to have one in my fish tank. They fall under the cichlid family. They grow and get big quick.
  4. Nope. WHat is the difference using live bait when KVD even admited he uses a underwater device that emulates largemouths attacking baitfish. Using all of those devices including fish finders, underwater cameras, lure attractants is no different than using live bait. I guess all of the pros are guilty of cheating then aren't they as well a most bass fisherman. As far as being more dangerous than artificial a lot of fisheries have reported problems with intestinal viruses and disease and deaths in fish that have engulfed plastics. Bassin did a couple articals on this.
  5. My uncle caught a catfish and a gar on a jig this year.
  6. Seems like a lot of the secret color schemes are coming out. I noticed Skeet Reese's has some of his favorites coming out too. The gun metal splatter backs. It seems like they are producing good and being used by a lot of guys in the Basssmaster series.
  7. Has anyone had bad luck with getting any bad Triline XL lately. I have bought 3 spools that were bad lately. You can see defects in it when you hold it to light. I took it and had a guy who owns a tackle shop look at it and he notices the samething that I did. Even when we took it off of the spool it had the same defect look out of the box. I noticed it after it kept breaking during casts. After 3 breaks, checking my rod n reel out, I found the defect to be the line.
  8. Rooster tails Jitterbug Tiny torpedo I have a variety of colors for each. One of favorites to fish with.
  9. Those are pretty realistic looking. It seems like the would be easy to loose especially in heavy cover.
  10. The links above are previous dicsussions about the rods. I have thr crankbait one and love it.

  12. "Possible" would be a better description. 7, 8s and 9s aren't "common" anywhere in the world. Yes I agree. The work on Lake Cumberland has affected the fishing in this area a lot. Cedar Creek is over rated and way over fished and poached but only has largemouth. The reports from Wood creek lake, Dale Hollow, laurel river lake don't touch what the creek fishing is producing. The trophys being caught around here all have been from seem to be mainly from creeks. Miles before they even hit a lake. There are a lot of bigg smallies caught her that never nake the news due to a lot of people here not having internet or caring about bragging rights. i saw a 8.2 pounder that got mounted the other day and he didn't even send it in to get it reported to the fish and wildlife. To him it was another nice catch.
  13. The creeks where I am at have a lot of deep hole area and are less that 1 feet goinf into them and after. Most lakes here have more current than they do. The minnows and craws in them is heavy. Definately producing some nice bass. Very overlooked around here. When you take the time and walk the creeks to find them they always produce better than any day for smallies on any lake here in KY for size. I know of a lot of guys who fish tournements in this area that would agree with me and have seen 7, 8's and 9's being a common.
  14. The Zooms for me. Always seemed to work the best.
  15. I love my rick clunn 1.5s. They catch more fish than anyother crank I have ever used. The 2.5 and 3.5's usually land bigger fish. The best lure I have ever bought.
  16. I have the crankbait rod and it has replaced my GL3 Gloomis crankbait rod. Casts great and a great feel and hooksets.
  17. Who says a lake will hold the next record? My uncle found a hole in a small creek about 20 miles from where it even gets close to the lake. It was a deep hold average depth of the creek elsewhere is about 3 feet. He landed one 6 1/2 pounder and about 5 others in the 5 pound range. A guy caught a trophy here last month a little over 8 pounds from a creek similar here in KY.
  18. Well I got to use the Crankbait rod that I picked up. I must say that it impresses me more than my GLoomis GL3 crankbait rod. Better casting, sensitivity, and hookups too. I landed a 3 and a half pounder fishing around one of the boat ramps at Cedar Creek Lake this morning with ease not even 30 minutes into fishing. I plan on adding more of these rods to my lineup and phaseing out the others with these.
  19. Mine should be here tomorrow. I will post more on the rod after some use this weekend.
  20. I found the Fenwick Techna AV for 109 at backwaters search tackle experts on yahoo. Its there website
  21. The Silver Max is an upgrade. You can usually get a combo for either it or the Black Max at BassPro for around 60-75. The Silver Max is your best bet. Makew sure you take it apart and clean it. One down fall is they seem to require more cleaning if you fish a lot. The anti reverse bearning has to be lubed a lot on them or else it makes a wine sound a lot.
  22. Were are the better spots there? I am planning on going this coming weekend. I still haven't gotten a boat yet. I just got out of the military after 10 years. Is holly bay park pretty good?
  23. I found that when I used braid, a heavy rod and used a quick connect clip that I had better action with it. The way you hold the rod changes the action a lot to. I had to keep it up at about 10 o'clock to get it to work right. If you real it in to quick it will also go underwater. My daughter was realing it in real slow with a pause every 3 or 4 feet and had at least a 4 pounder slam it when nothing else was working that day including my Spros. She had the white tied on. It was her first time fishing so she didn't set the hook in time after he went under with it. I have taken mine out a few times. On a clear calm day they worked great. When water conditions was choppy it's not even worth tying on. I have had no problem going through grass with mine.
  24. Has anyone used the crankbait model yet? I have read some good reviews on the rods at various websites that sell them.
  25. Hey I just moved back to KY after serving 10 years in the military. Does anyone know pf any good Smallmouth spots in central Ky?
