  1. Fact: after the flu shot, your immune system is weakened for up to 2 weeks. Fact: lots of stuff going around during the time flu shots are given Consider those 2 things together and it's no wonder why so many people think they get the flu from the flu shot and in most of those cases, it's not even the flu! Wash your hands like it's going out of style and use common sense, avoid sick people and dense crowds for a little while if you can. To each his own... I had the [real] flu 1 time and after about 6 days of wanting to die, another week to regain my strength and almost 15 lbs of weight loss, I decided I'd get the shot from then on. Even if it only protects me from the prominent strain, my odds are better. I'd love to see your diet. Unless you grow and raise it ALL it in a controlled environment, the flu shot is way more natural than so much of the stuff we eat.
  2. That's a good thing, you fit in better on the "north of 30" team.
  3. Catt, I was thinking the same thing but you chose the better words, thanks!
  4. December 25 when you have to stay home with the family! 8-) Funny you said that... 2 years in a row, I got rods as gifts for my brothers so we could fish on Christmas day! ;D
  5. I think hypalon is supposed to be kind of like upgraded eva. I use eva as little as possible. I don't like it much. If you keep your eva rods indoors when not in use, they will last MANY years. Leave them outdoors and they will only last a couple.
  6. I used a burl cork ring, turned down, on my first few rods. Also used some wood arbors that I cut out with a hole saw and turned down. Both worked fine but neither were as easy as the arbors. (Never had a problem with one.) I buy the arbors in bulk now...
  7. Did you mean crappie or crappy? There is a big difference. ;D
  8. Try rigging it "texposed" This is the only bait I will texpose, and the best hook for an Ika (IMO) is a gammy EWG (I like 4/0 non superline) because when you texpose it properly, the point will lay indented in the plastic, but still exposed. Beyond that, you may be setting hook on sight, not on feel. That can account for lots of missed fish also.
  9. Just remember that the fish didn't stop eating... they have to put weight on for the winter. Your biggest problem is most likely that the fish have simply moved and you are fishing in areas with fewer fish available to catch.
  10. Raul, I have to draw the line at about 12 on any given day... my rod box only holds 8, and I don't like having more than 4 rods on the deck at a time. (I rotate depending on which lake I'm heading to)
  11. Just wait until the addiction is full blown... With enough set ups, you really can split hairs on rod power and action or have any number of lures tied on! ;D
  12. Wayne, you are correct! I just read it wrong and will edit that comment.
  13. That's awesome!!! Congrats!!!
  14. I was half kidding... but if you hold the rod vertical, the weight "feels" the same.
  15. I typically stick to 2 vendors but will occasionally have to venture out of my comfort zone. Why not let us know who it is so if we were to buy from them, we could check stock status before submitting the order?
  16. First off... it sounds like a little research would have prevented a big disappointment. You don't have to look hard to find out where they are made. Secondly, rough and scratched up reels are not new... this is a common problem with the big retailers. Blame them, not Daiwa. Return the reels for "new ones." I hope you get it resolved and blame the retailer... otherwise you'll end up hating all the manufacturers, since the retailers so often re-sell returned reels. My Fuego was actually new, and just as perfect as any stella or steez I have seen in a store. Of course, I bought it in a store, not on-line. I've also gotten a few bad ones from BPS and Cabela's so I quit buying from them on-line.
  17. 3 things that stand out to me... first, all the trail cams I've seen and used have a slight delay in them, and then a delay in successive shots. (I checked, that model has a less than 1/3 second trigger and a 30 second delay between shots) I can't figure out how they camera hadn't already taken the pic from the other deer in the background walking through, even if the shot deer hadn't yet tripped it. And if the shot deer tripped it, wouldn't it have tripped prior to the shot as the deer walked into view? Coincidence or malfunction, maybe. The second thing is the amount of blood on impact. I've killed a number of deer with a bow and between me and friends we have videotaped a bunch of shots. Never have I seen that kind of blood on the entry side on impact, whether live or on tape. Possible, sure. Lastly, the "story" is odd... why the background story, the case built for copyright and the hunt story all wrapped up together? It could be 100% legit, but combined with the other things, it all looks fishy to me. But it's a cool picture, no matter what the origin or story. That's my skepticism for today. ...lol

People have been saying that since he bought the team... then when they were winning super bowls, most of the people eased up. Now that they are not a dominant team, the talk stirs back up. Say what you want, but even with bad personnel decisions on and off the field, he's not afraid to spend money when he thinks it can help. Scott, (I'll cut you some slack since you are a faithful Cowboy hater in good times and bad!) ;D You make it sound like the entire team is out of control... seems like there are only 1-2 guys with behavior problems right now. Can you name a team that doesn't have at least one thug on it? Penalties and sloppy play are a different issue, still a coaching issue, but different problem. I agree that Wade isn't the guy, I didn't like him for this team, even before he was hired. For that matter, I bet you can't name very many coaches that didn't have problems when their team was stinking it up. Most teams that are playing crappy are heavy on penalties.
  19. That's a cool story! And with no disrespect meant to any brand, reels aren't usually designed to be buried treasure. ...lol I thought when I posted that you are certainly the exception, not the rule... this just verifies it.
  20. Wow, which vendor? That's incredibly slow!
  21. Congrats!! You had a great day!
  22. Ours dropped again to $2.45 but it's $2.41 just up the highway a little.
