Right vs Left
it sort of evolved , verbally backwards... "typically" if you say a right hand reel, you mean right hand retrieve.

Cavitron knot help!
"big ol bass" and 10 lb test (of any brand) seldom mix harmoniously. Fwiw, I tie a palomar and use #14 XT on my buzzbait rod.

Reel settings for pitching?
I think it's more likely a technique problem than a reel problem... if your reel was the problem, you'd have trouble casting as well. Pitching is an inverted cast... to get the most of it, you still need the rod tip to work. Practice with a heavy weight and feel the rod working. Then aback down and find the feel with whatever you are pitching.

CAPITULATION!
I don't think that's the case here at all. Everyone is feeling it right now. If not in the market, then in groceries and gas. You might be better off saying that those who have lived within their means, on a budget, and saved some cash will have opportunities to invest at discounted rates... that those who irresponsibly borrowed up to their eyeballs won't have. "Rich" and "poor" have nothing to do with it... I'm not rich, by any means... but I have money saved. (thanks Dave!) Poor is a state of mind. I agree!

OnBoard Charger
All of the actual on-board chargers I have ever seen have been sealed and are completely waterproof/submersible. I have an older Dual Pro unit... it will charge while submerged. ;D

spinning reels under $75
Matt, That is a great offer, thank you.... but I will pass on it. I really just want to steer a friend towards a good reel that is within his budget. He is buying it as a gift, so he would like it to be a new reel. (I offered him a gently used reel already) The big day is coming soon... officially due 11/10 but the Dr. thinks we'll be early! Thanks for asking, Keith

Pegging a sinker to the worm vs. letting the sinker hang free?
Trial and error is the best way to find out what is best for you. I peg most of the time. My experience is that skipping and pitching docks or fishing heavy brush, you will hang up much less when pegged. I also think that you might give up a couple fish due to the pegged sinker, however, since I spend most of my time in brush and docks, the benefits far outweigh the trade off... especially since I feel like I'd miss many more if I was hung up all day. ...lol

spinning reels under $75
Need a little help with recommending a spinning reel to a friend. Budget will probably be $75, max, including tax and or shipping. I don't keep up with spinning reels anymore. This will be used with #8 or #10 line. What reels should I suggest looking at? Open to any brands. Thanks!

Lot of people holding them toads wrong......
EM, There are always a few people that mistake the message. Some just misunderstand your words and others truly miss the message. No point in fighting all of them, your post was crystal clear to 99.9% of the membership.

aluminum boat owners- TM thrust ?
Thanks for the replies! Budget is the issue here. Sounds like 55-60# will be enough, even in good wind.

Game camera hard at work...
Good Lord, look at the ribs! Your doe herd looks similar in stature to the fish you catch! ;D

aluminum boat owners- TM thrust ?
I good buddy just bought a 17' Lowe, that is finished out just like the old Tracker Tournament TX boats from the 90's. The trolling motor needs to be replaced. What thrust should he be looking at? I'm thinking that a 50# would be right for any conditions, but that's a guess. What do your 17'-18' fully rigged aluminum bass boats have on them? Thanks!

difference between G Loomis jig&worm and mag bass
I haven't fished the BCR's so I can't comment on how they fish. The obvious differences are the guides (recoil) and the handle lengths. BCR's are about 1"-1.5" longer in the handles than the MBR's. According to Loomis, the mossybacks are under the IMX... they fall in between the GL3 and IMX.

New spinning rod build - got the blues
My favorite rods all have either blue, dark blue or cobalt with no CP on blue blanks. You could have said it didn't fish worth a darn, and I would have still said I loved it! ...lol Good work!

Another rod build
Looks good! Don't put your work down, you have come further in 2 rods than a lot of people!

Ed had a baby!
Congratulations, Ed! I have a friend who was a NICU nurse, so I know it's tough for you and your wife right now- hang in there. My thoughts and prayers for a speedy departure from the NICU and a happy homecoming for Cam!! Best, Keith

New Wake bait rod.....
The only thing I see wrong is the reel's handle is on the wrong side! Nice work!

Tie your best knot?
keep in mind... If your drag is set properly and your line is in decent shape, even a fairly weak knot (statistically speaking) will hold up fine. On the other end of the spectrum, if your Palomar knot (or other high % knot) is nicked up, it will still break. check em' often, retie at the first sign of wear, or after a snag or "big" fish.

FedX is merging with UPS!
They must have sent it Fedex ;D Of course, they had to. It was sent UPS the first time.... back when it was a new joke but was lost in shipping.

I don't know the exact origin of this picture, but it was sent to my wife by a relative who lives in Galveston.

What do yall think she weighs???
You almost doubled the weight in your guess! You killed your own credibility and then said "has to be at least 9 lbs" - how? You swore the other was 5.5-6. I'll give you 7-8 on the first fish, but you have to buy a new scale (and use it) before it goes 9-10. ;D No matter the actual weight, you caught a GREAT fish. Bring the scale always and catch another one like that... we all want to know the real weight also!!
