  1. just think about how much black ink he saves by doing that. Furthermore, think of how much unwasted time this man spends in his life. There is so much to be learned by this one thread. Unbelievable. Never stop learning i tell you what.
  2. not sure i agree with much of the advice thus far. With a worm you don't always want to go painfully slow. A regular pace works great and triggers great bites. Always change speeds and see what's biting. Plus on the hook set, if you pull back immediately, that is not always the best approach. Colder water, i wait longer. Even in warm water, i lift till i feel weight and then slam em. Using 10 inch worms and slamming away the second you feel the bite will limit your catch rate. Furthermore, if your fishing 3-4 people in a boat and keep setting the hook on sunfish, you will get behind on the bass count and will pass up good spots by yanking away. Unlike a jig, the worm gets coiled on the hook set so you ruin the rest of the distance you have with the cast.
  3. agree completely with everything. Never tell yourself your good enough! Fallin in that slippery slope a few times and got it handed to me. I will never brag again when it comes to bass fishing. This site will humble you real fast.
  4. Great job! What a great feeling and it looks like this is the beginning of you getting the net over and over again.
  5. I like what Catt has said in many threads. It is a misconception that you search for bass with your lures, you search for bass with your electronics. He is the man and can back it up, this advice is golden and saves a lot of time.
  6. alright we are captivated...how big?!
  7. great write up and you discuss them by name which tells me you are the type of person that truly care for them and have a passion for them to be happy. You sir are the man.
  8. Great job. Looks nice out there
  9. Like NitroFreak said, i noticed my hook up ratio exponentially increased when i used a bigger rod. The rod just makes a world of a difference, especially with bigger hooks. It is easier to brace the butt of the rod and use that for a strong backbone. Used to only use a 6 foot rod since that was all i could afford, i spent much of my time trying to catch up after the hookset with this method and had my jig spit constantly.
  10. ...you are now converting your skills from the honey hole to additional lakes. You sir are becoming a swim machine. Man that is just flat out awesome. Your confidence must be through the roof! You have caught some serious monsters this year.
  11. Do share! A 7 is really hard to come by up there. Hooligan has reportedly caught several over 7 pounds in MN. I have personally seen 4 over 7 pounds caught up there. I only fish it for a week every spring and sometimes another week in the August. A 6 pounder is just a real accomplishment up there and a beautiful fish. A 7 is truly unbelievable.
  12. i know of one about 15 pounds being caught already this year. The big ones are still there it seems, just don't know how much it has been effected since i don't fish it.
  13. Awesome day guys. So much fun! Great fish
  14. That is just awesome. Great informative post and says a lot about underestimating any body of water. If you didn't even know that gal was in there and it was only 2 acres, seems like we could generalize this to a much larger scale. Great info. And, great catch.
  15. that is just awesome!!! You are on a roll man. And each fish is on respectable waters. I know the lake takes no boats out there but do you usually run in to shore fisherman? Awesome.
  16. Ha, i guess i should have stated the obvious that the kid has balls.
  17. 75% sure it was the same fish. Nothing is impossible my friend, nothing. She knows you.
  18. You mentioned it to support your firm conviction. It was constructive, i didn't want someone on a budget reading your post with a desire to catch more fish and go out purchasing a huddleston for numbers. That's all i'll say about it. Goodnight Irene
  19. arguing with a 16 year old. Won't get anywhere with this one. Plus he did say "pro" so that should have told us we were wrong...
  20. Ha, the kid will learn.
  21. ???? No. I think it is important to differentiate the size of the jig or the size of the swimbait. To say the swimbait catches more fish makes no sense.

Norman!!! Old school and works perfect. It can be reeled in a hair slower than the modern ones today. Nothing like a Norman buzzbait with a pork trailer. Cannot be beat! Game set match charlie murphy
  23. Thanks guys, much appreciated
  24. Yes, Sand hollow is more forgiving. You could fish Quail all day and only catch 3 or so. Sand Hollow always puts you in the double digit numbers. But, of the 3 you catch at quail, one will be over 4 pounds. Sand hollow, you will catch many small bass like Pelican but you get the occasional 5 pounder thrown in there. It gets more pressure than quail. Use small green pumpkin baits, small crankbaits, and a jig for the big bite.
