  1. A weedless soft plastic lipless crankbait with an embedded EWG hook like the huddlestons. I think I would have more confidence throwing one of those because of the fact that it will not hang up. I have no problem sharing this because I hope someone will make one as I do not know the first thing about making baits.
  2. The green pumpkin pearl is an amazing color choice. I picked up a pack of the 4" cane sticks in that color to imitate baby bass and other little baitfish. I actually got bit on the green pumpkin pearl flick shaking it. It was a little guy though, too small to actually eat the bait. I guess that says something about the effectiveness of the bait. I also picked up the 5" Black Blue laminate( it has blue and UV flake) and 5" Tilapia color. These two colors look awesome too. And you are welcome for the info. At least someone gets what Im puttin down...
  3. Whats with all the knocks on me not catching a fish on the cane sticks vs senkos? I got bored and actually watched the cane stick in the water and it has a wiggle comparable to the senko. The point I was trying to make to everyone is that I have found a cheaper alternative to the senko and its a different bait, I have never said that they ARE the same. This was made to be an informative post.
  4. I know I haven't caught anything with these worms yet. I said that in my post. Im comparing and contrasting the physical differences in the two baits. The Cane Sticks have more features to them and have the same wiggle in my opinion. Not catching anything with the Cane Sticks has nothing to do with what I posted. I just wanted to tell people about a senko alternative. I know I wont be buying senkos anymore.
  5. Haven't had any luck on the swim senkos yet, but from what I hear about the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper they are pretty effective. Bass Pro has a bait similar to the Skinny Dipper, its called the Swim Stiko. They have decent reviews on Bass Pro. Try those out and see!
  6. http://www.***.com/Big_Bite_Bait_Dean_Rojas_-_Cane_Stick_Worm_/descpage-BBBDRCS.html#pImage I have found my senko alternative! These worms are amazing! I have not caught a fish on these yet, but these have a nice slow fall and shimmy on the drop. Other features that I have fell in love with about this worm is that, they have hook slots on either end for when one end wears out, there is also a channel running along the sides of the bait that help the worm stay straight on the hook without balling up, the last feature that I like are the ribs on the bottom of the worm, they look like beaver ribs that provide more water displacement. All in all these Cane Sticks appear to be the real deal, and can't wait to hook a bass with them.
  7. Does Mend-It work on all soft plastics, including the Elaztech(Strike King's 3X plastics, ZMAN)?
  8. Im guessing that the advantage of spinning vs casting is that with spinning you have the light line, small baits, and finesse approaches in open water to light cover. The casting side of it is that you would be able to cast to moderate to heavy cover or structure and the ability to pull the fish out of that cover. Conversely, spinning allows you to play the fish more and tire it out so landing it is easier. This is just my thoughts on your question. Im sure there will be others with better answers than I. Hope I helped!
  9. LOVE the XRAPS! I have caught a good amount of fish in HIGHLY PRESSURED city lakes with these. I think that says something about the effectiveness of the lure. Just vary up the retrieves with twiches, pauses, or just rip the hell out of it. You'll love em. They are also really effective bed baits.
  10. I got the 3.5" Grasshopper ones. They are awesome looking in the water. I actually got bit on it today, it was a little scrapper though, not big enough eat the bait. The first time I used them the legs didn't kick as much as I would have liked, but a dunk in boiling water for 10sec cured that right up. My question was about the Hard Leg Frogz, http://www.***.com/Z_Man_Hard_Leg_Frogz_Elite_3pk/descpage-ZMHLFE.html#pImage They land on their backs, and was wondering how to remedy that. I was just thinking upsizing the hook to a 5/0 EWG or sticking with the 4/0 EWG and get the superline hooks. Actually I got bit on this frog today too. Buzzing it slowly along the bank another scrapper bit the leg. Im liking frog fishing more and more... OH NO... I see the monkey in my peripheral vision...
  11. Just got a couple different types of soft body frogs Canyon Plastics Frog and ZMAN Elite Hard Leg FrogZ. Im having trouble with the Elite Hard Leg FrogZ, im using a 4/0 Gammy EWG hook and rigged it straight. Everything works fine till the frog lands in the water, it lands upside down. How do you guys rig your soft body frogs so that they dont land on their back and run true? Thanks!
  12. All my fish were caught rigging it backwards and letting it fall on slack line, let it set for a few seconds, then POP it up and let it fall back down on slack line. Rinse and repeat varying the amount of time between pops.
  13. Thanks for all the great answers guys! I just got them in today, fished them T-rigged with a 1/8oz. tungsten weight pegged pitching to submerged grass. Third cast on the Tilapia color, BAM!, two feet in front of me a bass slams it! And I was reeling it back in for another cast! It may be the bait, it may be a fluke... either way I'm SOLD! These things are great! To add to this post I got the Big Bite Baits Cane Stick worms, let me tell you guys, this thing looks sick! AND it falls just like a senko with that wiggle...
  14. Just ordered some of these from TW(waiting for them). Got the Tilapia and Black Blue laminate. I figured I would go with the two most versatile colors. Anyways, those of you that have fished these, how have you fished them and what types of conditions? Thanks!
  15. Nah you are not off base. I think that the round head jigs would be better suited for grassy, weedy areas so they wont pick up as much crap as say a football head.
  16. I have a Vendetta rod 6'6" MH/XF rated to 5/8oz. I was curious if any of you have devised a "finesse" punch rig with a 1/2oz. weight or less. Secondly how do you work the rig and what do you guys like to use? Toss it out into a likely spot and shake it a few times reel it in, rinse and repeat?
  17. From my understanding, the round ball head shakey head jigs tend to roll over unless you are using a high floating plastic. The football head shakey heads provide a base for sitting upright on the bottom. Think of a football head as a lineman doing a three point stance. Also football heads come through rocky areas better because they dont get wegded into cracks and holes. I guess the round heads are for structure and cover so you can work it through easier. I prefer the football head type and love the Shake2 jigs by megastrike. Hope I cleared some things up for you.
  18. Fairly recently I have picked up the flick shake jigs and worms. I have not had any success on them as of yet, they do look promising in the water. My question is how do you all work your flick shakes and in what conditions? What other baits have you used on a flick shake head with success? Lastly what gear are you using for this technique?
  19. Have any of you guys used this line? How does it compare to other braids? I have never fished braid and want to try it out. I have read on other threads about dye coming off on your reels and thumb, and wearing through rod guides. Is there a braid that won't stain your thumb or reel, and is safe for line guides?
  20. Thanks for all the answers guys, it has really given me something to consider. I actually have a pack of 1/0 & 3/0 Rebarb hooks that I have not been using because I have been using EWGs. I think I'll try rigging some stuff on em and see how I do. What do you guys think of the Rebarb hooks, the ones by roboworm?
  21. The local city lake that I fish has A LOT of weeds close to the bank. I also bankfish and have been getting hits on my frog on a weedmat (haven't landed one yet...), what do you guys suggest that would not grab tons of weeds while working the weedbeds? Thanks!
  22. They are effective baits, I get hit on them often, I just havent landed one successfully on one yet. Its a little tough to get a good hookset. Im sure its my fault though, not the baits'.
  23. I have always wanted to try some megastrike attractant, haven't gotten around to it yet. Probably cuz its a gel, I prefer(have only used) spray scents. If megastrike ever comes out with a spray attractant, I'd be all over that...
  24. I normally use ewg style hooks for my soft plastics. Is there a benefit to using straight shanks over ewg's and vice versa? Thanks!
  25. I just went to the local city lake today and noticed that the water was unnaturally blue-green. I know its from the maintenance people dumping a ton a algicide in the water. My question is, do you guys think the addition of chemicals to city lakes affects the bite negatively? Thanks!
