  1. The rod just came today, it is sweet looking in person, and super light for its size. Im gonna throw a swimbait with it tomorrow and see how it goes. Been dying to try my new weedless hudd trout and decoy hydra tail. Couldn't throw them because I was waiting for the rod. Ill let you guys know how it went.
  2. I want to try out the BBZ-1 6" and dont know which one to try. I don't want to lose the lure to a snag so I'm leaning towards the floater... But the other side of me is thinking the Slow Sink is more versatile and and losing a swimbait is part of the game. So at this point I'm torn. Any and all help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  3. I was thinking about picking up a spool of the 20lb for my swimbait setup. Since Yo Zuri has a higher breaking point than the stated pound test, should I still stick with the 20lb or drop down to 15lb for line visibility purposes. By the way I will be throwing 5-7" baits that weigh 2oz. or less. Thanks!
  4. For all of you that throw swimbaits, which ones sit upright on the bottom like the Hudd Grass Minnow and the Deluxe Weedless Trout and are 2oz or less? Also which ones are weedless or relatively weedless aside from the Hudds? Thanks in advance!
  5. I just ordered the 7'10" MH/F rod thats rated 3/8-2oz which is perfect for the range of lures and swimbaits that I am planning on throwing with it. Thanks for all your help everyone! Now to look for a reel for it... Here we go again... :
  6. Im not looking for a dedicated swimbait rod, just a rod that I can toss swimbaits, frogs, and maybe flipping and pitching. A multi purpose rod. As for the swimbait size, I plan on throwing just the 6" size. I want to try out the Hudd Weedless Trout, and other baits 2oz or less. Also if I dont like tossing swimbaits, I can always use the rod for jigs, frogs, flipping and pitching. That is why I am looking in the 7'6" range. Thanks for the suggestions so far.
  7. I was looking at the BPS Nitro Big Bass rods for the techniques mentioned in the title. So far im interested in the 7'6" H/XF. Do you guys think that this would be a good multi function rod that will suffice for the techniques stated previously? Thanks in advance! 8. this is not true. I have used both extensively and the senkos are much softer and have much more wiggling action as they fall. I'm not saying they are made by two completely different companies, but the material they are made up of is definitely different. Dude, it has been discussed ad nauseum and confirmed by GYCB pro staffers and by GYCB itself, GYCB Senko and Kinami Flash is the same bait. READ is there a possibility that wal-mart carries very old products then? I am playing with a bag of senkos and a bag of kinami baits and they are VERY different. I'm talking the kinami bait is MUCH stiffer and I even placed them in water and it has significantly less action than the senko. It would be possible to argue that this bag could have been a bad batch, but I have also noticed this in the past as well, although I have not thoroughly tested it before. I'm sorry, but I simply cannot believe they are the same. Maybe my wal-mart is just scamming me I would have to agree with you about the kinami's at wal mart. I have picked up a bag and actually made a post about it a while back. The wal mart kinami's were stiffer, harder, and had little action in the water as compared to a GYCB. Whats interesting is that we are experiencing the same thing on opposite ends of the country...
  9. If I had to choose one bait, it would have to be a 4.5" Bold Bluegill Roboworm. And if I had to choose just one rig to fish them on, it would be the drop shot. This combo is by far the most productive bait and rig ever!
  10. To those who have used the LFT Magic Shad as a drop shot bait, are you nose hooking it or t-rigging them? I have only t-rigged them a couple times, didn't really give it much of a shot...
  11. Anything 4"-5" in the Bold Bluegill color worm by Roboworm. When I just want to get bit I throw a 3" Creme Trout Worm that are $0.99 at wal mart. I have caught so many small bass on this worm, big ones too every now and then.
  12. I have been trying to get a topwater bite on a popper for quite some time. How do you all fish the popper, I have used a random pops, constant pops, pop pause pop, and slow bloops. Not even a look... I mainly fish city lakes in the afternoon. What do you all suggest? I have different types of poppers, spro frog popper, BPS Popper, and Heddon Pop'n Image. Thanks!
  13. All the suggestions are greatly appreciated! I recently got a Spro Popper frog, how would you guys recommend working it?
  14. I have had ducks and seagulls fly into my line on the cast and get tangled up a couple times. I found that if you bring them in and put a towel over their heads they will calm down and you can get them free. I have also had a diving bird dive into the water and pull my swimbait out of the water, I had to yank it from its beak, TWICE!!
  15. I've got different ones, BPS Kermy Frog, Zman Elite Series Hard Leg Frogz, Zman Frogz(elaztech body with skirted legs), Canyon Plastics 3.5" frog, and Big Bite Baits Fighting Frogs. use those with a pegged weight , fish it just off the bottom , you will like the results When you say "fish it just off the bottom" do you mean a slow steady retrieve, like swimming it close to the bottom?
  16. I've got different ones, BPS Kermy Frog, Zman Elite Series Hard Leg Frogz, Zman Frogz(elaztech body with skirted legs), Canyon Plastics 3.5" frog, and Big Bite Baits Fighting Frogs.
  17. Do you guys have any tips or techniques you would care to share about fishing a frog (any type) in open water? The local city lake has been without grass mats for quite some time. So now I am wanting to throw my frogs but have no cover to throw them to. What do you all suggest? Thanks!
  18. I cast two handed as well, I feel I get more control and accuracy as well as added distance without extra effort. I cast one handed for short casts and pitching and with my spinning rod.
  19. that is an amazing idea! Thanks, I will definately be trying that.
  20. Eagle claw bobber stops. I use these and they work great. here is the link:http://www.***.com/Eagle_Claw_Bobber_Rubber_Stops/descpage-ECBOBRB.html
  21. Is there anything that can dilute megastrike without it losing its potency to make it sprayable(water, fish oil etc.)? I am a smoker and prefer sprayable scents/attractants, i feel that if I were to rub it on the lure the smoke smell from my fingers will transfer onto the bait. Any and all suggestions would be awesome. Thanks guys!
  22. I think that in addition to the natural looking colors, you should get some wacky bright colors as well. I have done reasonably well with the strike king coppertreuse finesse worm upon recommendation from someone here. But some chartruese in the soft plastics definately can't hurt.
  23. Does the blade color really make that much of a difference in buzzbaits? And would the idea of getting a cavitron in ghost minnow and putting a black skirt on it at night be a good one? I just want to buy one buzzbait and have it be versatile.
