  1. Monkey rig = double fluke rig Gotcha. Thanks! Why is a double fluke rig called a monkey rig anyways?
  2. What is a monkey rig? What is a Neko rig? -gk A neko rig is where you insert a weight into the head of the worm and wacky rigged through the top. I just want to know what a monkey rig is...
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions and help so far, Im still learning to fish the frog so all these tips are being used. Here is an example of the stuff im fishing my frog through at the local city lake.
  4. It was awesome to see the bass hitting my frog and actually taking into their mouths. I felt the fish a couple times and I guess I got too excited and set too fast. Anyways I believe my setup was not the reason. I have a 6'6" MH/XF Vendetta w/ Daiwa Exceler high speed and 10lb. Yo-Zuri Hybrid. The frog was the BPS Kermy Frog. I want to try either the spro or tru tungsten frogs.
  5. Thanks for the insight on the frog fishing Senko77, appreciate the help. Got another question for you and anyone else who can help. What would you guys follow up a missed frog strike with?
  6. I fish from the bank exclusivley( no boat) I like to throw a drop shot rig from the bank, and work it back slowly, and shaking it from time to time. Another thing I like to throw are cranks, and lipless cranks. But working the drop shot horizontally is the key for most of my fish.
  7. Finally started getting hits on my topwater frog(hollow body) I was working a floating grass/weed mat and every hole i stopped the frog at got hit. I missed every single fish, at least four fish. What do you guys suggest as far as hooking up after the hit?
  8. Found a good deal on some spot removers, curious if I should act on it. Are these any better or worse than Shake2 shakey heads?(Shake2's are what I use right now) What is the hook size on the 1/8oz model? Thanks in advance for your advice!
  9. Im a shorebound fisherman as well... I use the drop shot horizontally with good success. Typically I fish local city lakes in So Cal (they get pounded pretty good) and finesse approaches are needed to get some of these fish to bite. My setup is 7' MF Vendetta with a Quantum Incyte 20 and 6# Trilene XL. Normally I use about a 10-12" leader to the weight. I use this length for worms because of the fact that I am fishing horizontally with it, it keeps the worm up off the bottom, and above any weeds or grass. Fairly recently I have been shortening the leader to about 3-6" and putting a handpoured craw and slowly working that has produced a few good sized bass for me.
  10. The local city lake that I fish is starting to become overrun with weeds and submerged grass to the point that any lure or soft plastic thrown into it will come back a clump of weeds/grass. Also there are sparse floating clumps of weeds and grass. What would be your ideal bait/lure of choice in this situation? Any and all ideas are appreciated, thanks!
  11. I have been fishing these for a few days straight now. I use casting gear, 6'6" MH/XF. I have gotten lots of hits on the Grass Minnow but for the life of me, I cannot get that hook into bass' jaws. Everytime I go to set the hook, it feels like its set good, then when the fish is close it spits the lure. Aside from that its a great lure, I just need to figure out how to drive that hook deeper.
  12. I usually do not use trailers, I use the skirts that have extra length at the end, like what War Eagle spinnerbaits use. I always use a trailer hook though. If I were to use a trailer it would be a single tail grub. Was thinking recently what a ZOOM tiny fluke would look like as a trailer on a spinnerbait without the skirt.... I might give that a shot.
  13. I might be the black sheep here with the Ika color, but the only color I have gotten hit on was the Smoke Blue Pearl color. I picked up this color so it would mimic a crawdad. I use a 4/0 EWG. When I fish them I hop them and let them fall back down and sit for a few seconds before I hop it again.
  14. I wasn't asking about how to fish senkos, or what the best color is or how to rig them... All I was stating is that I have noticed a difference between the older Kinami Flash worms(softer, like real senko) and the newer ones(a little stiffer). I was curious if they changed their plastic recipe or anything else. Also that I noticed that the Kinami Flash's no longer say "GYB" on them. Now they have "Kinami" on one side, and the wave logo on the other. Thats all...
  15. They will bite. Just keep at it. Like what was said previously just keep ticking the bass off. Let your lure just sit there among the fry, he will swipe. Or try a popper, cast past the fry and slowly work it in, make sure that when you are close to the school of fry, slow down even more. You can even dead stick the popper right above the bass. Try it out and let us know how it worked out for you.
  16. LOVE the XRAP Shads! I use the shallow running versions. You work them just like you would the regular XRAP, also you can fish them like a crankbait as well. I have used both sizes and caught fish on both. The most successful color I have used was the Purple Ghost color, its light purple on top with a chartreuse center with a slightly opaque shell. I have caught a bunch of bass off their beds with this lure and color pattern. I would recommend getting a couple few to try out. The other color that has worked for me is the Olive Shad. Hope I helped you decide! Good Luck!
  17. I just picked up a pack of the Kinami Flash in the Moss Color. These feel a little more firm than the other Kinami Flash's that I have purchased. I understand that the Senko and Flash are one and the same, but are the newer Flash worms made differently? I also noticed on the Flash worms that I picked up that they no longer say "GYB" on them, they now have the word "Kinami" on one side of the "egg sack" and the Kinami logo on the other. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
  18. How do you guys rig these? Jighead? Weighted hook?
  19. Has anyone used these and what do you think of them? I have some and haven't gotten bit on them yet. How do you guys fish them? I use a weighted EWG hook. Thanks!
  20. I got them on ebay. Havent received them yet. I think I bought the only ones the seller had. I'll post how they work out when I get them.
  21. I think that toad in the pic was from a wacky rigged senko... ;D
  22. I just ordered these on ebay. Was curious what you guys thought of these and how you would fish them. Thanks!
  23. when i get bored of not catching anything, if I see some baby bass swimming around i'll tie on a 2.25" Creme Angle Worm in the natural color wacky rigged on a drop shot rig and pick up a couple of them, but today I was doing that and saw a pack of three bass about the 2.5-4lb range swim by and just pitched the rig in front of them and one broke off the pack and gobbled it up. From that moment I realized that super finesse works too! I was surprised to see a 3 lb bass inhale this tiny worm I was throwing... http://www.cremelure.com/store/store_product_detail.cfm?Product_ID=107&Category_ID=1
