e21 Carrot Styx 249.99 Why or why Not?
I read that last thread. I'm not a frequent flyer in the rod section, just looking to find a rod that is that sensitive. Whats the Info on the Kistler LTA, I think it was? I google Tournament Legends rods and G Loomis. I can see both of those at BPS.

Your opinion on rods is greatly appreciated and respected. Who makes these rods?

e21 Carrot Styx 249.99 Why or why Not?
I have no prior knowledge of these rods. Read a thread. A local in my neck of the woods or maybe on here said. I was using the carrot styx this winter for the first time. Same conditions, he said he got some serious thumps before his line moved. Normally, he's been seeing line twitch/movement first. The next few weekends, he said it was the rod, he used old rod and noticed line movement. Hey, I'm a serous line watcher that never sank more than 150.00 in a rod. If theres a rod thats gonna help me like that, I'd like to hear about it. What series do you recommend and why?

Just moved to Texas
What are you doing in Odessa? I was born in Odessa, lived out west of Odessa for a few years. I always mentioned to my navy buddies, the only thing in West Texas was tumble weeds, oil, and the Permain Panthers. Tradition isn't what it was back in the 60-80's when Permain was threat to go all the way. Amistad is worth the travel. San Angelo is hour and 45 minutes, you have a few lakes there, and OH Ivey is another hour from there. Great lakes in AH, Ivey and Amistad for Sharelunker bass. I'm just west of Lake Fork, if you make that trip, I'd be glad to show you around or mark your map for ya. Hookem Matt

e21 Carrot Styx 249.99 Why or why Not?
Can anyone tell me were I can spend my 250.oo on a better Rod? Why should I buy the e21? Warranty? I'm looking for good worm/jig rod. Love my Falcons, but do think a better rod will give me a few more bites that I may be missing.

Share-A-Lunker #443
That fish was caught in 4 foot as per the report. Notice that fish didn't follow text book conditions. Also backs up a few thoughts as the big ones sometimes spawn earlier than some think. Fish has some great detail and color.

Rate ESPN's coverage of the classic......
Maybe ESPN will takes ya'lls opinions and cancel all coverage next year. I hope not. So, what did you think of CBS, NBC, FOX, and others coverage of the classic? I do agree there are things that could have been done differently, but ESPN is the only network covering it. Thanks on that note, some coverage is better than none. Specially when fishing isn't in the top ten of ESPN sponsors, their money comes from other big time sports. I wonder if Glenn might know how many cameras they had in the 25 boats. Also, if top 6 had cameras only? And is that why we didn't see the bottom half make a charge?

Charley Hartley may not have won the classic......
That is what makes the classic "classic". The story of guys growing up and living on beanie weanies for months, sleeping out of their trucks, and the Charlie Hartleys'. Cliff Pace, Mr. Icewater, one cool cucumber. WoW!!!!

first time tounament director any advice?
Welcome to the forum. I'd like to thank you and other Directors for giving us guys who seek the competitive side of bassin an outlet for the "weekend warrior" types. For the guys who punch a clock 40 hours a week and make livings the honest old fashion way. You might contact some other directors that run large trails here in Texas and inquire on programs. i do know that all they are waiting on to post results are the actual weights. Media Bass normally posts all results by evening same day. I'm sure other directors would have that info and more unseen issues that could arrive. Thanks and welcome. matt

The General thread is a disaster!
Nope, don't want that collateral duty either. Just mentioned being consistent.

The General thread is a disaster!
Alls I ask is for some consistency. Move one, move them all that don't pertain. Too many times one stays, one goes.

Gmansgarage.com
Gman gets most of his exposure from ESPN, and Head ON can be seen on alot of channels. Considering I watch less and less Sat and Sunday ESPN due to always fishing, its liveable. Try getting out more!!!

The most important feature when locating bass?
I think locating food sources and understanding that food sources habits can help cut search times down. You can be on a lake that meets 4 out of 5 things listed for the criteria used for locating bass on just about every point or creek channel in Fork. Got to be away to eliminate unproductive waters with out fishing all 50 points in one day to locate fish. Follow the bait, the bass do also!! Did you know in the winter, Bass don't bust a school of shad like they do in warmer months? Bait will ball up, but unlike the summer months, bass don't attack the schools. Bass simply follow and pick of weaker shad. Weaker shad will try to hide on bottom. If shad move back in a creek at this time of the year in Texas, it means the creek has warmer water back there. Bass will follow, and they will use the same contour as the shad when moving back. Why does it take awhile for Bass to leave the shallows after they spawn. EAsy meals are on hand for bass. Lots of shad fry, bass fry, and those egg robbers are going to be shallow spawning in late may and June, and bass know where to find an easy meal. Know thy food source. Know how the past 3-5 days of weather may position the bait. Too many factors to use. Wind, temps, bait, time of the year as to which seasonal movenment, structures and cover .

Midland/Odessa?
You have two choices, Allan Henry, small lake in the panhandle, that kicks out some big bass in the past. Or head to San Angelo, few lakes there, then theres OH ivey, and of course, alittle further, is Amistad, which has been on fire the past two years. Hookem

Go Marcia!
I saw the boat she was in today. Looked like the boat to be in for cruising the lake in bad weather.

Why dont they have 2 records for Largemouth bass? N & S?
The "next" world record may come from South Africa, Cuba, or Mexico to name a few. Now if you are seeking a United States Record, then you have 15.8 lbs coming from the North that was caught in Massachusetts. Northern Strain And you have George Perry's from the South. Thus Mr. Perry's bass would be the current US record and World Record bass. No proof of what his strain was, only speculation of what populus of bass that body of water had. Again, no guarantees . Then you have your own bars set in each state. Mine is at 18 and some change. Those in Georgia, well, you set the bar pretty high.

Why dont they have 2 records for Largemouth bass? N & S?
Randall, no worries, Texas shouldn't be in the conversation. We have one docuemented bass at 18.18, some 17's, Long ways from the 20 lb barrier, not to mention 22 lbs 4 ozs. I'm lucky to have a state that noticed it sold lots of fishing license, to wit, alot of bass fishemen. So the state did its part. Could you imagine what Cali waters could be like if they actually stocked bass? Or had a program like Texas. To the best of my knowledge, Texas biologist have not been trying to mutate DNA for superbass, they have tried to spawn the best genetics available for the best seed to be restocked. I wonder if the IGFA has been asked that question before and what was there response?

Go Marcia!
Last time the Reel Lady was in Texas, she had a nice wrap, nice bass boat. Whats the scoup on boat troubles? Good luck and go catch'em Marcia. Matt
