  1. Forgot to move this one also!! Question, don't ya'll tag them as moved anymore?
  2. When are you guys gonna make it on the weekend, been trying to catch up with Ring Fry for a year now. Always on Fork on weekdays. I had 80 hits on Doug, but only a few responses. As mentioned, Roy Greer will do half price on your boat, he will teach you your electronics. Is John Tanner chasing the FLW this year, or did he take the year off?
  3. I have lived in the area for awhile and have never heard of this guy at all. Not in tournaments or anywhere, which don't mean much. I'd go to the texas fishing forum and ask others. I'll do so for ya!.
  4. Frosty the snowman! Do you do holidays? We needed a good snowman in Texas this year. LOL Hookem
  5. Just look at the press Reggie Bush is still getting about allegations of him and his parents for taking money while at USC. USC still maybe stripped of Title and Bush may lose the Heisman. Background on the other two QB's please. When Catt said "two words", Jarret Lee, Whats his story?
  6. Gonna be big one. Tennessee has been building their program the past few years. Pearl has done a great job, of course he still takes a back seat to the Greatest Basketball Coach in mens and womens Basketball, Pat Summit. Don't think Memphis loses #1 seed with loss to Tenn. Wouldn't mind seeing a perfect season go into the March Maddness either. No dogs in the hunt, hoping for back and forth game. Hookem
  7. I have found skipping with a baitcaster is easier if you have some weight to propel it. Also, bulky baits like the tubes, frogs, jigs (double skirted) make for good skippers. Remember the motions you used when skipping a rock. Thats the same trajectory you are trying to achieve. Its like pancaking that bait off the water at a low trajectory' I will also say that alot of docks don't see swimbaits skipped under them, I found some that skip great and produce. I like low profile reels, it allows my thumb to feather the cast the whole time, its done by feel. Remember casting in the wind, when you start to feel the over-run and feather the cast with your thumb to prevent the backlash, its the very same principal, except, it happens as soon as you release the bait, you have to be in control. Don't try to skip bullet weights unless pegged. I don't like bullets for skipping at all. Florida screw-locks are okay, but normally, I don't skip baits that would require bullets. I always adjust my tension knob by tightening it down some, that will eliminate alot of backlash. To get distance, you'll need some force, thus the thumb and tension knob are important. Practice the motion of getting the bait to skip. Once you master that, then increase your distance gradually. Baby steps at first. I practiced at a motel pool for along time on a milk crate. Practice practice.
  8. Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in Texas. It was formed by a earthquake and gets its name from the Caddo Indians. Average depth is 16 ft. This is one of the most scenic lakes as pertaining to vegitation and eerieness. There are thousands of signs posted on trees for directions. Lots of people have gotten lost in the flooded cypress and spanish moss trees for days. Lake record for bass is 16+ lbs. You could employ just about any style of fishing on this body of water for bass. This lake is worth a visit in early spring or late fall. If I remember correctly, a movie was filmed there long ago, maybe "Gator" with Burt Reynolds. At night in the flooded forest, its darn right spooky. This lake is located in Texas and resides next to the La. border.
  9. If you try to skip a TExas Rigged bait, ensure the weight is pegged. The bait needs to be one bulky bait. Appendages coming from the bait will detour smoothing skipping. Easy baits to practice with that will help you get the mechanics down with are tubes rigged with lead head inside. Another neat trick is to skip 4-5 in Storm Swims under the docks. They skip nicely as well on Baitcaster.
  10. To have striper and hybrids, you need some depth for 64 acres. Seems very strange. Winter months normally provide adequate oxygen levels. Sad no matter what happened.
  11. We older folks deserve some respect. We are the leading carriers of Aids in the Nation theses days. We have Band Aids, hearing Aids, Walking Aids, and Medicaid. We know you guys would already have a limit in the boat before we got launched. But when its all said an done, those dinks won't win ya nothing compared to the Toads we'll catch. Why do the younger women want older men? They like a man that is mature!!! and doesn't need mommies permission to come play.
  12. McNamee was a proven liar when he was a cop. That fact was brought out today. Any evidence he has is tainted and won't stand up in a court room. Still say Roger is lying, but so is the other guy as well. Anybody notice the Dems pounded Roger, while the Rep. drilled McNamee. Party lines were evident.
  13. Did you find them? ARe you still trying to find the "PPA" or the PAA? I'll give you the link if you didn't find them yet.
  14. Not a Barry fan at all, but he was harassed for a long time compared to what Clemens is just now going through. I say pardon all athletes. The commish looked the other way when he knew what was going on. By his looking the other way and not persuing the real issues, he basically gave the green light to all who wanted to use. The commish failed to govern his league as hired. He's not much better than a pusher, he allwoed it to go on for years. Now he tried to sweep it under the carpet. The commish deserves to be fired and prosecuted.
  15. Those are not boots! Those are roach killers! LOL Some great shopping in Mexico!
  16. Good one, I'll have to borrow that one.
  17. If you saved all that evidence for one player. Why wouldn't you do that for all the pros you supposedly help do Roids? Why just Clemens? He was involved with lots of players. As for the hard workouts, that what those kind of performance enhancing drugs do. Provide more energy and power. Allowing you to be Superman!!!!!! I mentioned the time line before and some of his stats towards the final years of his career, or what we thought was gonna be the end of his career. Enter Jose Canseco on the Redsox team, and Gagne and Clemens both found a new career. Roger and Jose both went to Toronto after leaving the Soxs. If you are going to jail for along time, you may sing and dance. If you are not guilty, your gonna defend your self. Based on his career, I'm gonna say he did use something. Birds of a feather flock together. Also, in TExas, we have seen many variations of the story being released about conversations between Roger and Andy. Who knows.
  18. Don't forget to keep all receipts on tackle, gas, entryfees, meals, and lodging for any and all trips spent on fishing. You could have 5000.oo in expenses and only 1000 in winnings, and only be able to use part of the receipts. The more you win, they more they allow you to right off. matt
  19. The more you win or earn, the more you are allowed to write off. You don't have to run it like a business. But you should allow a professional to do it the first time, then next year, you will know the forms to use. Or do like another buddy did. He used turbo tax online, allowed it to walk him through, then he went to the public library and down loaded the forms they didn't have on hand to do his on his own. Any meals, gas, and lodging that was due to fishing or prefishing can be written off.
  20. Welcome to the forum. Hookem
  21. Thats the tie I was trying to make. He has been sponsored by Berkley. Purefishing was the new tie I was thinking about.
  22. Actually Jay signed with Fenwick I do believe. Guess who own Fenwick? I'm thinking Fenwick is tied to Daiwa some how. I'll check on that. I was thinking Jay basically ended up in the same family. Just read that those guys expected it for a few years. Most pros, not the pro staffers, are the ones used for R & D, and according to the 3 pros, its been years since Daiwa asked for help in designing the rods and reels, thus Denny expected it.
  23. A quick summary to recognize cheap over quality. Lenses are made of polycarbonate (plastic) or glass, glass is the #1 choice and will carry the higher price. Glass protects better from flying objects as well. Glass doe not scratch as fast as plastic. if they don't say 100% UV protection, move on. Also, the top of the line models will also have 99% infared protection as well. Grey is best overall color for bright and sunny days for a variety of waters and conditions to fish. Brown lenses are for medium to bright colors. Best lense for sensitive eyes. Tan/Copper are great for overcast days and most widely used by sight fishermen. Yellow lenses enhance light better at dawn and dusk times. To simplify that, they draw more light. Each lense does specific things. Learn not to use your fishing glasses as your normal sun glasses, this will increase the longivity of them. I am the worlds worst on polarized glasses. I have numerous pairs. I bought cheap copper lenses because sight fishing is short period of the year and I dn't persue alot of bedders. The grey is the best all round pair, and those are the ones I will wear most of the year, and thats why I'll spend the money on grays. They are the primary glasses all year. Hookem protect those eyes.
  24. After long tenures with each Pro. Daiwa announced that they have let Denny, Jay, and George go after along time of doing business with the 3 pros. Lots of reasons as to why has been speculated. I just think its time for a new face for marketing. Lots of worthy young guns out there. Also, George and Jay made personal choices to leave BASS a few years back, and well, just how much exposure does FLW get on FSN. I don't have FSN, but do see alot of Elite faces on ESPN. Denny is still an Icon of the sport, but with injuries bothering him as of late, you don't get much exposure laid up healing from surgeries. Hookem
  25. Try the PAA website. They had them. 48 and change won it.
