UK Rocks!!!!
I think you may be correct Catt. Mama is not gonna be in a good mood this morning. What I saw for the first 2 and half quarters was Kentucky shooting themselves in the foot. Then I went to bed. Matt

THE BIG ONE: OU vs. Texas
hookemdown, hookem up!!!!!!! Where or how close to the Texas Border are you? If my horns can't whoop that little pony pulling cart, I'll just have to come on up and whoop yours in the boat with some Bassing. Or better yet, you come down to Fork for the weekend and I'll put you on some "hookem up" kind of bass that can only come from Texas waters. Its getting to close, I can't play it safe anymore. I have never liked a college that has to steal some little girls "penny Pony" to pull that Ugly looking Wagon. We Horns are Gonna witness BEVO doing the STOMP. BEVO IS GONNA DANCE THE STOMP ONE MORE TIME!!!!!! Hookem Horns Matt

Colorado Rockies Are In The Playoffs!
I'm no cubby fan, but have thought that if the Cubbies could win it all, Maybe Mr. Bartman could come out into public. Saw a short piece ESPN just did. No way I could live like this guy. He basically lives indoors since the incident. Work and goes home, Works and goes home, works and goes home. Sad life to be fearful over something that 95% of the same fans would have attempted if they were in the same spot. Those that have been to a ML game, ever want to catch a fly ball? I know I took my glove to a few Padres games. Matt

Colorado Rockies Are In The Playoffs!
I like your reasoning, make it happen!!! I always love a good underdog. I never looked at the Rockies all year. It was the streak towards the end that I heard about that caught my attention. I always say, Don't really matter how you play in the first part of a long season as long as you don't put your self out of contention. Peaking at the right time is always very good key. They are peaking in October and I believe in Baseball, is the RIGHT TIME. Matt

How to get tournament ready skill wise?
If you can find a boater to link up with that has paid for his season, and do the same, it guarantees you that you will not be in the lottery. Your Partner will be by draw of course, but you will not be waiting to see if their is an open spot at each tournament, you will be in already due to having made the commitment for the whole season. The guys who wait to be drawn are commonly locals trying to jackpot on home lake on one tourney only. Another words, there are guys who only fish the tour as co-boater when its on his home lake. If it is FLW tourney, it is wise to try to find a Boater who owns a Ranger. Ranger sponsers the FLW, and guys who owns a Ranger will have better chance in getting a spot than Triton owner will. SAme goes for BASS, find someone if you can that owns a Triton, cause Triton isn't gonna want a bunch of Rangers gettting all the coverage. For example, I think the BASS Central Opens are on 3 lakes, if you link to a boater in the off season and pay for all events up front, you and the boater, ya'll will be on the top of the list. Good luck matt

Colts flying under the Radar!!! WHY?
The media never cut Terrell Owens any slack, and this year, they have left Terrell alone like he has a plague or something. Randy, I'm gonna run my routes if I feel like it is Now the Poster Child for a "Team Leader". I wouldn't turn the channel this year during football season, its getting good. Full moons over Dallas and New England. New Commish, Detriot is 3-1 and their QB predicted 10 wins before the season started. And its not even Halloween yet. Matt

How to get tournament ready skill wise?
I don't cash alot of checks, some. I look at guys like KVD, What makes him so competitive every week? Obviously, KVD doesn't fish like every one else. He use his strenghts. Do you ever see him fishing a jig? What KVD does do. KVD knows baitfish, KVD knows electronics. KVD's knows that bass position themselves according to the seasonal patterns of bait fish and forage fish. If you can use your electronics and track bait fish year around, you have most of the game figured out. Mechanics are mechanics, whether you flip, pitch, or cast, you still got be profficient at putting the bait on target the first time. Knowing the food chain is the simpliest way I know to teach bassing. What positions the baitfish? What do shad, alewyes, herring eat? Knowing that shad feed on Planktons, and wind blows planktons across the water, its safe to assume that wind positons the shad part of the year. Like wind blown points and such. Also, some of the best knowledge on this forum is gonna come from non-tournament fishermen. Just cause they don't seek a check, don't mean they can't teach you about crawdad hatches, swimbaits, and my favorite, the food chain. KVD doesn't appear to fish a 100 types of baits throughout the year. He fishes baits that simulate bait. Jerkbaits, cranks, and spinner baits have won him lots of tournaments and money. With the handfull of baits he does use, he's always close to the top, he's consistent with a limited amount of baits that he does use. Good luck and welcome to the forum. Matt

Here Kitty, Kitty!!!!! Wheres Catt?
Both teams are from the same state and at one time shared some of the same facilities during post-hurricane days. I can't really say how many were against Tulane, I bet Catt could tell us the atmosphere of the crowd for that game. Tulane probably can't go as deep on talent. Alot of teams can hang for a quarter or two, but after that, depth charts will usually show up. I have witnessed a bunch of those games this year and seasons past. Even though Tulane is lesser team, and that shows when you look at the last time Tulane won in that series, you still should coach that game like you were playing a Florida. Don't let the lesser teams change routine or focus. Good coaches will still chew some butts even if they are ahead by 50 at half, penalties, turnovers, and other mental mistakes should be addressed while fresh. Adjustments comes in all shapes and sizes. Matt

Lucky 13
I still throw lucky 13's that I have had since the 60's/70's, You can file the edges down on mouth (concaved area). Some 13's give more pop. There are times, not the fall, that it appears that a spit is better than a pop. I hope someone can help with what I'm trying to get across. Compare the lip of the bait to some other topwaters such as a spittnImage. By taking some of the edge of the lip, you don't get the loud noise, its more of a splashing sound. It spits. Bass bass and the Frog pattern in green with black spots and yellow rings have been good colors during fall for years. The 13 was my first topwater fish. Matt

Quality vs Quantity
I want both!!!!! Quanity and Quality. Quanity because if you are on a pattern and lose the one crank, your done, and if its a tournament, it could cost you a possible check. Also, having at least 3, if team tourney fishing, you have one for your partner and a spare. No way I only by a quanity of one of anything. Maybe one to increase current stock from 2 to 3. Quality is not only in finish, but terminal tackle and hooks. We all have little things we like to see on certain baits. Some like a color to be exact, some like the red hooks, some of us like red on cranks around the gills, some like suspending models only. Me, if I can find a crank that dives deep and is Tenn. shad colored, I can and will change hooks and split rings if needed. With a crank that costs over 10 dollars, I shouldn't have to change anything in my book. I buy cranks that I have confidence in. I have never been one to buy a bunch of 15-30.oo cranks. But will pay that price for the ones I know that produce. Matt

St. Louis Lambs
3 of there starting Offensive line are already out. Kinda of hard to protect the Qb with make shift line. Matt

St. Louis Lambs
Injuries have really hurt the Rams this year. Bulger has been putting up Pro Bowl numbers when he's healthy. Just not this year. Jackson was one of the leagues best all purpose backs last year and Tori Holt had another normal year as he always does last year. 1000+ yards. I really thought the greatest show on turf would be putting up the numbers again this season. The rest of that division is catching up to the old schemes of Seattle and St Louis. Cardinals and 49ers, if they stay healthy and players don't cry to be traded, have a chance to compete for a playoff spot, SF has good running game to compliment Smith, too bad he got hurt. Still waiting to see Linhart take charge and show Arizona how to win, they certainly have some of the best talent at skilled positions. Seattle appears to be looking like the old Seattle, Hasslebeck is proven leader and will not give you a easy win. Seahawks should take divison easy. Matt

Here Kitty, Kitty!!!!! Wheres Catt?
You Don't see USC in the mix? I think UK QB is one of the best in college, its the lack of defense I see that will hurt Kentucky. Texas has alot of QB's playing college ball across the US. One of the good ones that couldn't find a job in Texas was Harrellson, a coaches son, he's playing at Mizzou, if they don't factor in this year, they will next year. If Colorado can mess with the Sooners and their Fr QB, they may have some problems from some others down the road. OSU under Les Miles had just gotten OU's number 2 out of 3 years, OSU is just now starting to get the offense rolling. Then theres Tech, A&M, both capable if they play to their potentials. Maybe a team with 2 losses comes out of the south this year, maybe not. Matt

Colts flying under the Radar!!! WHY?
How come the media is building the Patriots up so much?. Indy has not been part of the discussion on very many TV programs. Yet ESPN and others alike barely even mention Indy this year. NE is being talked about going undefeated and comparing them to the 72 Dolphins and we were only in week 4. Granted, Brady and bunch have looked very good, as good as they always look every year. So has Indy, they haven't been cellar dweller in a long time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Indy has been the one to threaten the Dolphins 72 season the last few years, not the Pats. Do you guys think its on purpose? If no ones talking about INdy, there will be less pressure on them as they get closer to the undefeated record? Seems to me, Indy has had very little defense in the past, maybe why they didn't get there in the past. Their defense stepped up at the end of the season and the Colts win the Super Bowl. It sure seems to me that the Colts are getting no respect and should be favorite to repeat, yet the Patriots, Brady and Moss are getting all the press. Why? What ya think? Matt

Here Kitty, Kitty!!!!! Wheres Catt?
What one loss team do you think makes it to the Sugar Bowl to face LSU? ACC has already taken some hits. Big East, WVU, Rutgers, Louisville already beat, and one of these teams will give SFU a loss down the road, so they won't be in the picture. Don't think so! Big Ten currently has Wisconsin, Purdue and OSU undefeated. Michigan is still gonna be factor for BCS spot until someone beats them, and don't forget Mich ST has good team. Maybe no one comes out of the Big 10 undefeated. Big XII, who knows how its gonna turn out. NO top rated teams other than OU at #10, The north will work itself out as it always does. Pac 10 Cal, USC, Oregon, who knows, USC was taken down by UCLA last year, and some big games left to be played. BCS poll comes out after week 5, correct? Matt

Cowboy Football
No respect for the Pats. I did say that Dallas and NE was expecting to get first real test against Bengals and Bears, yet those teams aren't the bench mark of years past. What both teams have shown and done, neither team played to the opponents level. they both took care of business like great teams do. By the way, NE's wn percentage is better when Harrison has been out of the line up. With Harrison out, they give up less yards per catch and less yards per carry. AS like you, we think that they are better team when he's healthy, but thats not what the stats show. I have been Rodney fan since he was a Charger. Strong Safety is one of my favorite postions. Matt

Here Kitty, Kitty!!!!! Wheres Catt?
Also saw somewhere that said, LSU hasn't lost at night at home since 2002, thats an impressive streak. I believe I'd schedule all my games at home for Saturday nights. .773 just shy of 75% for 47 years is impressive. I'll be watching. Matt

New Fishing Partner
Congrats on the new fishing partner. 4.13 is a keeper in my book. Seems like yesterday, I had my first grandson, and he'll turn 15 months in a few days. Congrats to the proud Grand Pa. Matt

Here Kitty, Kitty!!!!! Wheres Catt?
I figured Catt would be chiming in on the up coming Tigers/Gators game. First off, where did Auburn find some offense. If Auburn can score, LSU should have easy day, you thinK? Tommy, Good luck, I can't think of anyone I'd like to see the SEC title go to than Kentucky or LSU. Catt, you know your conference break down better than I , I was hoping you would give me the scoup. I got your back up until UK gets shot at SEC title, then I gotta go with the underdog. Whips those Gators by 50 or more and you aren't gonna hurt my feelings. good luck Matt

Fall Fishing, creeks or points?
Dont seem to matter what you throw around here now. top water, c-rigs, cranks, lipless. weighted, weightless. Its on like Donkey Kong!!!! Best time of the year to get the cob webs off those baits you never throw. This is the time of the year to catch one on the one that has never caught nothing. Matt

Alfalfa hay bales for fish attractor.
I have wired in a flake with my brush piles when I sink them. I have no complaints about catching some nice sized bass off them. Some ranchers put coastal hay, its alot cheaper than using Alfalfa. By spreading them around in ponds, it acts as a filter helping clear the water up some. Matt

Texas vs. Carolina????
C-rig, T-rig, Wacky, split shotted, Bass are seasonal, bass move accordingly, there are times of the year, that you need different tools to put bass in the boat. Example, fall lake turnover, Pretty steady T-rig bite going until the bottom started turning. Fish suspended off bottom once the lake started to turn over. T rig not the right tool for this job. The question is: What tool can get to a bass that suspended 6 ft off bottom now? There are times in the year that certain tools out produces the other ones. I prefer neither on this example, although a long six foot leader c-rig and a floating 3X can work. I would prefer to try some cranks, swimbaits, and the best and easiest to keep in the zone is a spoon fished vertical. There are times in the year, that the C rig works better with an 18 inch leader, and times in the year that a 4 ft leader is the ticket. There are times in the year that I don't change colors, i change the weight on my T-rig. Certain times, the 1.4oz can't be beat, and there are times when bass want that bait to fall faster to trigger the bite, thus 5/16th's or 1/2 oz can do the trick. More often, it the weight they want adjusted, not the color. All these are simple tools that need to used accordingly. My strength is Texas rigs, but I do C rig alot for learning what is on bottom. by far the best search bait for learning new areas when looking for a sweet spot within a sweet spot. A good mechanic is good with all tools. Show me a mechanic that can tune a race car with one tool. Matt
