  1. AOY had me watching very closely as the year started. It had nice twist with early dates for the west coast boys to get the jump. I was very impressed to see KVD hanging around the top after the western swing. AOY set up nicely for Kevin, he stayed close to Skeet on Skeets home waters so to speak, and that set-up KVD to make his run on the northern swing. You'd think KVD would put this one away on his northern waters. Impressed with Skeet for sealing the deal. I'm gonna throw this one out there again. The past few years, the young guns so to speak got all the press, and everyone was tired of seeing IKE and some others getting the camera time. NOTE: If you aren't making the cuts, you don't get as much TV time. It just shows that all the negative remarks towards ESPN for only giving these guys more exposure was a crock. Hookem Matt

Not so fast.....lets see how many heavy hittin' lawyers he hires this time. However, I do believe he's guilty. (Both times) The prosecution screwed the pooch the first time around, any good lawyer would have attacked the evidence that came up missing, you know, the blood that was logged in, yet couldn't be found, and then, out ot the blue, more blood evidence appeared behind the house. OJ got away with murder because of the mishandling of eveidence, Our tax dollars hard at work. It didn't hurt that one of the key witnesses had racial character flaws docuemented in his police service record. I would concur, he's guilty, but our system in place, said other wise because of the prosecution fu bar. Matt
  3. I was hoping that the TCU game would have given them the spark they needed. But after seeing what Air Force did to TCU this weekend, TCU appears to have been over ranked to start the season like UT is. CFU did beat NC state, but then again, who is the wolf pack? I'm a die hard Texas fan, and OU is gonna kill us unless we find a defense. If CFU"S team can burn us that easily, then OU is gonna do the same, just easier. I know one thing for sure, i hope UT doesn't get the number 5 ranking, its not been very lucky for the teams who have adorned that position thus far. Michigan and Louisville have been shot down while embracing that spot. On a positive note, who has OU played that earned them the spot? I'm not an OU hater, I said the same about UT last year with Colt McCoy as a FR. Freshmen make mistakes, UT may not have the team to put pressure is his face, but some one will along the way and then we'll see how the freshmen handles himself in the pocket. Freshmen just make mistakes. Matt./
  4. Theres been enough upsets from the little guys already this year, or have ya'll forgotten. How about the #5 team going down? Way to go Kentucky!!!!!!!!! I'm waiting to see if OU plays anyone who can put pressure on the rookie QB. Don't care what team it is, a freshmen is a freshmen. My horns will need miracle this year to beat OU, I just don't see the speed on defense to match up with that offense. We haven't exactly been in the backfield getting pressure on opposing QB's. The only way to solve the media voting their favorites in the polls is to have better non conference schedules. How come OSU got such a high ranking last year to start with? The had 9-10 new defensive starters? How come Florida didn't get the same consideration this year? College is too in consistent with the rankings to start with. Matt
  5. What tournament trail was you fishing on. Their website should have some pictures posted. 82 boats is a very good tourney. Congrats on the win. Hookem Matt
  6. Prayers sent to family and team mates. I love the game of football, I hate seeing some one on the turf lifeless. Great news of Kevin getting some movement back in his arms and legs. Matt
  7. kmbgolf, Welcome to the forum. What body of water are you looking for? Matt
  8. Good post Rolo, I wish I could articulate my words as well as you do. Always clean and to the point. Catt, You know after post spawn, you don't catch me fishing anything above 12 ft, and hardly anything that close to a shoreline. I love the deep offshore unpressured waters. My fish only see a tenth of the fishermen as opposed to the shallow fish that are high pressured every day. Matt
  9. What if the world record bass was to hit your bait? I always fish as if that lunker is gonna be calling. With that said, the more ties, the more terminal tackle added, the better a chance of something failing me. If at all possible, I keep it all simple. Matt
  10. Try split shotting. Matt
  11. You never know what the big girl is gonna eat. Tx state record came from crappie hook 18.18lbs. I love big plastics, 10 or bigger, but there are some lakes that just don't produce with big plastics. Cedar Creek Tx, an older lake, the majority of the time, if you don't have 20+ pounds, you aren't close to a check, has some big fish, just don't produce a lot of them, very good 4-8 range in sacks. Can't buy a bite with 10 inch worm, 7 inch seems to be the ticket. I force fed them for a couple of years and an older fellow told me CC just don't take to well to seeing big baits. Matt
  12. I don't know if Catt throws senkos, even if he does, he has something else in his tackle box that appears to work on multiple bodies of water. you can always get senkos, but finding out what his favorite go to worm would be my choice. Matt
  13. I don't see Alabama's Defense stopping the best back in the nation. Give Nick, Steve a chance to get their talent recruited and the Sec is gonna be even bigger war zone on Saturdays. matt
  14. I don't wish drought upon anyone, but when lakes get that low, I take the opportunity to scout them out for new areas. I look for ditches or small guts that can be only 1ft deep or deeper. Older lakes are void and baron alot of times. These ditches make for great travel to and from spawning or feeding flats. A liitle bend can be the sweet spot that very few have seen, and when you add some stump, tire, old foundation pieces, or anything they can hang out next two. I have dug a 4x4 hole 18 inches deep and used the dirt as humps next to the hole and have great success when it comes to reaping the rewards of extra work. A little contour or cover can hold lots of fish. Matt
  15. CJ, I don't disagree with you or Catt. But I would make a bet as to the fact, that if you watched me on my deep structure on Fork during the summer, I can produce a fish over 6.5 pounds on almost every trip. Its not coclky, its results that are repeated. I say summer, because summer provides stable weather and stable weather means consistent patterns. ONE area Catt talks about is in the boat lane marked with boat lane bouy. I fished this during a Big Bass Splash and the STREN series going on the at the same time for 3 days straight. I had boats flying by all day, and I was on fish for three days. Won some nice money in June, and thats due to Catt for sharing a sweet spot with me, which my novice girl friend caught fish for three days also. IF I am lookng for quality fish, I will always try the quite approach, I will use the wind if possible to drift in, instead of trolling motor. I always turn the grapshs of. Stealth is the number one advantage for Quality. Didn't matter with boats zipping by every 5 minutes. Funny thing about this area was, i could see 100 boats all day. Read the Posted signs on the water and know mother nature. What??????? KNow how and what directions the creek, river runs. Know how trees on the ledges or edges grow towards the sun. Know that the biggest tress will always be closest to the channels while its under water. CAn you find a creek under water in the middle of the lake by just looking at the trees on top even though they have been dead for 20 years? Learn the what types of treee in your region grow on hump or hills, know that sand on the hills is different than creek bottom sand, all of these small tidbits can help you find areas with out using maps and electronic. You find desirable areas by sight, and scope them out with electronics and fishing them. Knowing the way a tree leans into a creek gives you the picture of how to toss or pitch at targets. knowing the bend in the river, the fallen tree into the river channel, and grass on top on the ridge, also knowing some one drug their anchor through the grass cut a gut in the middle of it and fish are relating to it all make for easy fishing in my book. Would I tie up or anchor all day on every lake? no Do most tournament fishermen anchor out? not many, but I will if thats the best way to stay on fish. Do all lakes have the same structure? NO Lakes like Toledo Bend, Fork, Amistad, and others will hold fish in the same areas year around as long as their needs are met, and only be in migration mode when the urge to reproduce commences. Why does a guide make money? He sure don't fish new water every day or every year. He goes back to the same spots over and over, that don't mean he don't have 1000 spots, but he has to be able to consistently catch fish. I have seen guides take clients to the same spots and start on the same spots day after day. Why? cause fish relate to that area for reason, every year. What Catt and others have done is settle in on the sweet spot within a good area. Learn the signs, Raul has posted numerous tips on learning the dry ground that surrounds your lake, note the types of timver if any, where does that type of tree grow, near creek bottoms, top of hills or elevated ground. What type of tree grows next to the channels that are now under water. For those that want to be successful and eliminate some luck, learn how to fish with out electronics first, learn to decipher what mother nature is showing you. Sorry to be long winded, you could write a book on identifing types signs to help learn reading the water before ever making a cast. One thing to remember, Catt and I are blessed to have a state and lakes in our area that handle as much pressure as any lakes across the US, and are loaded with quality fish. To catch quality consistently, you must have great fisheries, and we do have some of the best pleasure lakes, and tournament waters in the US. Typical stringers are 20+ lbs, and thats year around. These kind of sweet spots are due to being blessed with better than average lakes. Wish me luck, I'm fishing for a piece of the$ 400,000.oo for 3 days this weekend. And I haven't fished the sweet spots for 3 weeks, and I won't move for 3 days straight. I have faith that I wll catch some 8's, but its the magic 24 inches that makes them turn into money. Hookem Matt.
  16. Give Spurrier another year of his draft classes and the SEC is gonna get even tougher. Two SEC ranked teams have falled thus far, there will be more. How does Georgia stay in the rankings for getting beat by a lower team? Major upset!@!!!!!!!!!!! Matt
  17. Told ya VT wasn't gonna be a test. They should have came out in the second half of East Carolina and whipped them good, instead, ECU moved the ball on them fairly easily, they just made mistakes, yet VT didn't captialize on them. It don't matter who's the top two just yet, we got some football to be played still. Matt
  18. Dear NFL, Don't ever give me a double header with Mike, Mike, and Mike. Talk about commentating gone bad, that was the worst TRIO in the booth in football history. Didn't look like Mike Ditka enjoyed it either. Matt
  19. Tom Osborne was a coach to be reckoned with. I'm looking forward to seeing USC play a better team, We will see just how good they are. Great game for LSU Catt. I told ya ECU moved the ball okay on VT, and I didn't see why LSU should be scared with no offense from VT. By the Way, CFU did what I though Okla. St was gonna do to Georgia, upset them and their current #16 ranking, but Georgia being over ranked at number 10 worked also. Matt
  20. Thats pretty incredible. Matt
  21. Tommy, You watch your backside buddy. We still got some fishing to do. Matt
  22. Things seem to work a little better once we realized that we werent' throwing where we thought we were supposed to. Made a big difference in finding the fish on the drop off. I won't ever forget that spot. That number was my HS football number. Matt
  23. Anyone ever stop and think of what kind of cover corner the Saints bought when they went after David on the free agency market from the Colts? Big difference in going one on one than playing cover two, I guess the Saints found out the hard way last night. Lets see!!!! Colts run cover 2 90% of the time. Why would anyone think he was gonna fit in the Saints defensive scheme? I wished I would have mentioned that before the game, I told college buddy that Peyton was gonna torch him personally for a couple of scores and he got torched for 3. For you gamblers out there, heres the numbers, defending SBC's have won 36 opening day games. Since the NFL now allows the SBC to start/open the season, they were 4-0 until last night, that would be 5-0 now. Don't go against the odds. Also, Peyton and his crew are attempting to set another record, the only team to win at least 12 games in a season for 5 straight years, currently, Dallas and Indy are the only teams to ever win 12 games a season for 4 years straight. So that would be a 75% winning record. Next time you pick against the Colts, just remember they win 3 out of every 4 games over the last 4 seasons. Pretty impressive numbers. matt
  24. Yep on paper they are one of the creams of the crop again this year. Does anyone remember a game awhile back, I think everyone in the nation said the same thing for a team called the Wolverines. No way Appalachain state could beat Michigan and yet they did. In Michigan no less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is college, even the lowly Trojans can be beat. Have you forgotten 2005 when ESPN was doing the "GREATEST COLLEGE TEAMS EVER", THEY announced the USC 2005 team as the greatest ever, and then Texas whooped them in front of the nation. Have you forgotten the two losses that USC had last year. Granted Pete has some studs, but even Pete's teams get beat. I will also be rooting for USC to go down by the hands of the Huskers. Go Big XII. Hookem Matt
  25. Anyone catch some of the Middle Tenn. vs Louisville game last night. 49 points scored in the first qwarter. 58-41 Louisville. Some serious offense in that game. And another Wow!!!!!! Oregon State got their butts handed to them by the Bearcats of Cincinatti 34-3. Whos playing Middle Tenn Next? Hookem Matt
