  1. My bust RW, Some chatter on firing the Mets coach for the late season collaspe. My comment was, I wished Tex would have a lead at the end of the season just once. AS history has shown us the past few seasons, Wild card teams have a great chance to win it all. With the Rockies being one of the hottest teams going into post season play who knows. I didn't look at who they played the last 15 games as of yet, so they may had the worst teams in the league to make that run on and it may very well end quick. I'm too chicken to predict baseball with the recent events the past few seasons. Wildcards have been hot, and home field advantage has shown the home team only winning 54% of the time. I'd take the Rockies just because they haven't been to the big show ever. Matt
  2. Poor Romo, Romo the holder cost us the game last year, and Romo the QB was the reason we were in position to win that game. Romo has played how many games in his pro career, 13,14, pretty small number. Compare his numbers to Peyton and some other starters in the league and Romo has made some good progress for being a rookie. Alls I can tell you NFC east fans. As long as Romo stays healthy and is playing for the Cowboys, its gonna be along time before you ever see the face of the boys in the standings. Ya'll will be seeing our butts from behind with Romo playing QB. How can Cleveland decide to have a good season this year. Dallas has their #1 draft pick thanks to them letting Cleveland slide up and take Quinn. Cowboys will have two number ONES in the draft next year. Cowboys have won Super Bowls when they have two #1's in the draft. Gonna be some lean years with the new, improved, gun slinger in the pocket. Pats haven't played anyone this year. Their opponents records speak loudly on this also. The Bengals and Bears were supposed to be good road test for both clubs, trouble is, neither team is what its supposed to be at this time of the year. The team that is getting disrespected is INDY, the Pats have been talked about going undefeated this year, and its INDY who beat Tenn, Houston at 2-0 and 3-0. INDY is still the unbeaten DEFENDING CHAMPS. Why is the media leaving the Colts alone with all the chatter? They have to be the favorite to repeat, what has changed for them? They still have Peyton!!!!!! The boys are looking good, real good, but don't forget Romo is still in-experienced. Matt
  3. I can't fire the coach, the mets haven't been close in the past decade. Hopefully, the melt down will give them the needed experience to play thru it next year. I wished the Rangers had a lead, just one time, a melt down would be something to cheer about, cause have to be leading to have a melt down, and the only melt down we've had is from our Owner, Mr. Ricks. I have nothing good to say about Mr Ricks, so I'll bow out, at least the other Texas team appears to make some good moves in the past. Matt
  4. I don't have to replay that one, i can still see it vividly in my mind. One of the worst play to watch again and again. who brought peanuts to the party?????? Now we got skins fans showing up!!!! Slomoe, did you get your handle from your latest QB's? Pretty Slow!!!! I was impressed with Campbell at Auburn. He's no Romo, and Wade is no Gibbs. Matt
  5. I can't afford to talk smack when I'm affraid to admit UT has looked like a 5A High School squad at best. Sweed hasn't scared anyone out their with his speed, Charles can't gain a yard with out a gapping hole, What LBers have gained stud status, what defensive Lineman has QB's looking for them. Who is the ball hawk in the secondary????? For years, we had KO and Punt returner who could take it to the house, seems to me, the special teams are at the house. I love my Horns, but smack is something I can only afford alittle of. If OU loses, I'd fire Stoops, noway Texas can match the speed. Hookem Matt
  6. I hope some of you crotch rocket riders will slow down. Don't want to loose any forum members this way, and neither does your own family. slow down for your mother, wife, kids, and grandkids Matt
  7. They are the hottest team going currently. Only their second time in Franchise history to make post season play. Good luck, I'm on the Underdog's band wagon. Go Rockies. Matt
  8. It don't pain me to say anything Hookem. Texas leads the all time series by 18 games, so If we lose this Saturday, it only means OU is behind by 17 games. We can't win them all. Texas has their hands full thats for sure, but did we not just see Colorado beat them? On any given Saturday, Applachan St proved anyone could win. KU, we have been waiting on the North to make some noise. The Big XII South is tired of everyone thinking the Big Xii is a joke because of the North being so bad. Wished ya'll could pull your weight some day!!!!! Go Texas, Hookem Horns Matt

I don't care if Peyton stepped in, no weapons on offense that scare anyone in the league. What has Cedric ran for the past few seasons? Over 1000 yds? Any 100 yd days? I don't think he's close if you added both years up. What team records or league records has Musin Mahamad been trying to break? The only records in jeopardy is punt/kick returns from Hester, and last time i checked, Dallas didn't let them score that way, so Chicago better come up witn some alternative plans to score. Matt

The slo-mo shots of the faces getting smashed like a sponge was the best ever. Know way that kid gets up in the second round with over a minute and half left in the round and survives. One of the best fights in along time. Did all of you guys who actually watched the fight believe he was behind on all the score cards by 3-4 rounds. I thought worst case, he was even with Taylor, and thats with a two point round in the second. matt
  11. I know we talk of playoffs, but regular season is a playoff system. CU beat OU and that should put them out of the title hunt with top rated undefeated teams out there. Ya, they can win the south and Big Xii overall, but don't make them in the hunt for the title with other undefeated teams out there. You want a shot, you must win each game every week. Now you loose one and say "thats why we need playoff system". if teams were made to play stronger non-conference schedules, we wouldn't need a playoff system. You look at USC almost every year. They played ArK last year, who was in the title SEC game, got beat by USC 70-12 or close to it, then beat Nebraska, then beat ND. Was there any doubt if USC won its conference, that they shouldn't be #1? I don't need a playoff system when teams of that caliber go play some one. Did you look at who Florida played last year? 8 home games, div II A school, was they deserving? Not based on their non-conf schedule, they only played SEC teams, how can you judge the SEC when they don't play outside the conference. CAl and Tenn, and Georgia and Colorado. Wow, i'm impressed with why people want playoffs. Go play some one that means something to prove why you should be there. I was pleased to see Ohio State on Texas schedule. I know that one loss could cost us the objective, winning the NCAA title, but there was no doubt after traveling to Ohio and winning on the road. didn't matter if the Big XII was weak or not, Texas played them all, like playoffs and won to get to the big dance. Playoff, just play some one of importance to get noticed, then win all your conf. games to get in and you'll be rewarded. Matt
  12. I like them all, Texas Rigging worms has been staple in my life for 35+ years. What I have found out to be true is. There is gin clear water all over the World, slightly stained, to down right muddy. I have found that each has its own place to be thrown. Those that use multiple presentations will more likely be succesfull year around. My thought process holds me back. Why would I want to throw an 8lb drop shot rig in heavy timbered waters like Fork, where a new state record fish could hit that 8lb rig? Makes it hard to give up the heavier line applications. Matt
  13. Welcome to the forum. Matt
  14. hookemdown, You didn't think you had a chance to win it all this year did you? A rookie at QB is a mistake waiting to happen. I'll take my medicine next week also. There is no way, Even if Colt played the best game of his life, that we upset the Sooners. Ya'll would have to gift wrap it for us to win. Matt
  15. I don't see UT or OU in the National title hunt. UT didn't look impressive at all this year, and OU has freshmen pulling the trigger as I have said all year. Very few Freshmen QB's, no matter how talented the team is, can play mistake free football all season. Congrats CU, your program needed a win like that for all the program distractions that have taken place the past few years......ditto to KSU, since Synder left, they have been down, their program needed to a good solid win also, twice in two years, that will help. Were do we go from here? All three Big EAst teams that was given any chance have been beatien early this year without having to play each other. Good bye Rutgers, Louisville and WVU. So long UT and OU. CAl and USC is looming big down the road. Wisconsin finally played some one with some salt this year as oppossed to only playing Michigan last year. Michigan State gave them all they wanted Sat. Wisconsin still has to get by Michingan, OSU. Who knows about the SEC? Any body want to break down the polls and SEC? LSU, will they go undefeated? Wonder what LSU and USC game would look like? Matt
  16. That could be said about Indy the past few seasons. Peyton is by far, the best coach that they have had. When you can look at the defense at the line and call the play, that pretty hard to defense. But even with all the praise, they only have one Super Bowl win with bascally the same team and scheme. Only as good as you play on any Given Sunday. Matt

Chicago is or could be considered the 4th best team in that divison at this time, and its not Grossmans fault totally. Minnesota and Chicago should be very good game. Matt
  18. Matt Fly replied to zimmy's topic in Everything Else
The way Farve has played the past few seasons, he looked no better than Rex. Green Bay and Chicago are very similar if you have noticed. Chicagos proven Defense, and Green Bay begining to play strong Defense. Both with weak offenses in the past. Brett has earned his grace to play poor I guess. They sure looked bad with no offense the past few years. What did Brett want this year? A reciever named Randy Moss. Over the past few seasons, he's lost some of his key weapons, except Driver and TE Bubba Franks who hasn't exactly torn up the league. Green Bay has gotten lucky, they have some young receivers that are coming along faster. Bret did say last year, that with some experience, the Pack will be good young team. The Packers have managed to do what Chicago failed to do. Build some weapons around Farve. Rex did exactly what Farve has done, Forced the ball to make plays. They don't have the team to make long drives, and yet they don't have the O-line or running game for ball control, and not enough speed for game busting plays. Personally, Horton is the guy to go to. He did brake most of Brees records at Purdue, used to the weather up there, but then again, he's in the same shoes as Rex. Young and experieced with the same O-line that Rex had. Matt

Rex is 19-7 as a starter. 19 of those games came in his first full season last year. 13-3 as a starter last year. The Bears scored the second most points last year and yet they let Jones go. They don't have a running game to support Rex like they did last year. What weapons did they add to the team. None, Nil, Nada. Rex is playing poorly, but if you put Peyton into the same spot, you aren't gonna be happy with his play either. Peyton don't have to take the hits Grossman does. Rex's stats from college, runner-up in Heisman Voting, 22nd pick overall, has won 19 out of 26 starts. His first full season wihtout injury, leads his team to a 13-3 season record. What did they do to improve the team offensively for this season? Matt
  20. When water clarity is zero, I like baits that displaces alot of water which is vibration for them to zone in on. That could be a jig that is double skirted with rattles. I like lots of noise with heavy surface chop, that can be from lots of boat traffic, rain, or wind. Less wind means I like quiter baits with less rattle but still like bulky baits to displace water. Colors are not as important when in muddy water, hence they aren't feeding from sight. Matt
  21. My take on the bite with Humidity. Most of the time when you feel the humidity, there is a lack of air flow, ....ie the wind isn't blowing enough to make us comfortable on the water. No wind in itself can make for tough fishing, I like the wind to set up my fishing. Also, being hot and sweaty makes for tougher concentration when the bite is lite. Its a double edged sword, there either too much wind or no wind. The weather is one constant that makes fishing fishing and not catching!!!! Matt
  22. Matt Fly replied to zimmy's topic in Everything Else
What did the Bears do to improve the offensive weapons? Nothing!!!! What about that O-line. The theme was to have Rex make 2-3 step drop and deliver the ball quickly. How come they still call the deeper, longer developing plays down field? Rex is getting killed in the pocket and yet the line don't get no blame. Matt
  23. Any opinions on Oklahoma States Coach and his rant. I haven't read the article, don't know what is fact or fiction about the story itself. I do love to see coaches going to bat for their players, but was it overboard? They even won a thriller that night. Matt

Say what you want to about Grossman, but look at the big picture. Hurt his first season, played some his second year , and had his first full season under center last year and what did he help accomplish. A trip to the Super Bowl. I hope when Romo has some bad games due to lack of experience, he don't get thrown under the bus. It will happen, look at Rivers this year, Roethlessberger last year, basicallly rookies who had killer first years. McNabb never got any real targets to throw to for years. Enter one valid target and they made it over the hump. Ya'll need to remember Grossman is barely into his career. Peyton blew big chunks and INT's his first two seasons, but he had some real targets to throw to. You guys get rid of one half the offense with letting Jones go, don't pick up any talented recievers, just what moves did Chicago make to help any of their QB"s out. I 've liked Greise also, but the facts are, he has had many a opportunities to lead a team, and hasn't gotten the job done. If he didn't develope into a proven QB under Shannahan in Denver, I don't see him making any better decsions. Kyle has only had 8-10 starts, and game experience is lacking for him also. When you have in-experience playing QB, you need a serious running game for ball control. What did Chicago do to better the running game? What wideouts did they actively persue? If Chicago didn't want a rookie playing QB and basically its his second season, they should have went after Garcia, Culpepper, Schaub. The Bears didn't game plan for the lack of experience, most of this appears to be management issue in my book. Matt
  25. Personally, alls Marino has is numbers, he never won the Super Bowl, and only made one trip his rookie year. You'd think after going his first season, he'd make it back, yet he didn't. Soryy, he has some records but no hardware. Glad to see Farve is gonna have some of those records soon. Matt
