  1. Right, but there's a time and place to be 'wacky' on the water. Up at Raystown, they have a jet ski 'park' I guess we will call it. It's a place JUST for them with a course and everything. Heck they could even go to the middle of the lake and hit the wide open areas, but they all seem to screw off where everyone is trying to fish. I could see if they had a cove first and WE moved in to fish, but they should see people are fishing and find another spot. I think some people don't realize how much room it takes to fully stop a boat or even change direction. Stupid boaters!
  2. Ah, my Droid got all the apps back too. Maybe it's a VZW thing then? The droid doesn't have MotoBlur, which I really didn't like anyway (we sell VZW and ATT here and the Backflip had motoblur (avoid the backflip). We got the AT&T version of the Galaxy literally 10 minutes ago. The hardware is SLICK, but again AT&T puts their junkie bloatware custom builds on all their phones. It doesn't feel like an Android device, it just feels like another AT&T phone to me. Hopefully your carrier doesn't screw with it haha. I really wanted that Fender MyTouch... I almost bought it even though TMobile doesn't work here. Anyway, back to the X... I haven't got to play with one yet because the supplies are tight and we haven't received any yet! I'm a sad panda :'( I don't think you'll regret getting one though. We only have 1 person here at work that won't give up their Blackberry but we'll get em to switch!
  3. All I can say: It's about time! Why wasn't this done weeks ago?
  4. Two good places to start: Fast current moving into deep, slow water and then slow deep water moving into fast current. Keep your lures in or right on the end of these transitions and you should be able to find some browns. Keep my other post in mind also and you should be good to go!
  5. Personally, I'd would have asked if she heard the words coming out of her mouth? Go park your chair somewhere, I was here first. (Then I hoped I land a big fish and let it flop all over her!) I could have gave her a nice swimbait slap across the face. Have a little salad while you sit on your lazy butt! People that 'hang out' at the river around here tend to be scum (not all of them) and I just can't even stand to fish it anymore, unless I'm in a boat. I think we should have to get one of those boatsmart cards I always see on TV. Maybe that would cut back on dumbies (doubtful though)... Nate, I do not get the chance to watch TV much at all... What is a boatsmart card? I see Dave Mercer advertising the crap out of them during Facts of Fishing on WFN (the commercial is on just about every break). I think it's like a hunters safety course, only ALL boaters in Canada need to take it. http://www.boatsmartexam.com/EN/ Probably wouldn't help at all though
  6. DodgeGuy what will you ever do if they discontinue that line... I think you'll quit fishing! I use Spiderwire 20lb camo braid and a 12lb flouro leader... I have the same set up on my baitcaster too.
  7. Could always get a new Quantum Smoke PT.... BAM! Yeah, I went there...

  9. Keep the vanilla away from your trout flies though Unless your fishing for stockies...
  10. Just be careful if you use the Plano boxes (I do). If you have them in heat or they are going to sit for a long period of time make sure you lay them flat. I left mine in my tackle bag (upright) in the heat one day and all of my stick and swimbaits started to bow. I had to straighten them all out (not fun).
  11. Try working a tube as slow as you can. Almost like working a Senko at a slow pace. Toss it out, wait 10 to 15 seconds, pull up on the rod, reel in the slack, let it sit 10 to 15 seconds... keep doing this. You can swim tubes too, but the fish need to be pretty active for this to work. Your color is one I like to use, maybe try a lighter color and see if that helps. I like to texas rig them with a 1/8oz weight, or use a tube hook. Tube hooks make the bait spiral on the fall while a texas rig will give you a nice straight drop.
  12. x2 Make a floater than you can experiment with adding weighed tape and get it close to suspending. Suspending is a tough thing to make, even with plastics. Water temps can effect the buoyancy.
  13. I'm only accustomed to catching Brown's in creeks, but Penn's is almost big enough to be a river so I'll give you some advice Brown's like current, just like rainbows. Here's the difference, browns are 100x smarter than rainbows (stocked rainbows anyway, there are still some native rainbows, but not in my area). I fish for browns early morning (before the sun's up) and just at dusk as a bug is coming off the water (browns LOVE drakes, blue winged olives, cahills... all kinds of bugs). Figure out what's hatching and match the hatch. As far as nymphing goes, find an area of deep but still pretty quick moving water. You can catch browns during the day, but they are going to be in either deep or very quick water. Wooly Buggers are a great fly, blacks, browns, olives and purples are great colors. If you have an ultralight spinning rod, try throwing a minnow lure, like a Rapala X-Rap or Flat Rap. Look for browns in similar areas to where smallies may be. Browns like to ambush prey (they are like mini muskies HA). Look for wood or heavy cover near quick water. Hope this helps! Stockies can be a pain in the butt, but at least your catching something! Wait until you hook into a big brown though, they fight like nothing else!
  14. BPS Entice Football Jigs (Brown, PB&J, Black) or Tru-Tungsten jigs (same colors as the BPS ones). I'll throw Rage chunks and Rage craws on those. For my tiny jigs (usually for smallies) I like the Strike King Bitzy Bugs and a YUM CrawBug in red and black or a rage chunk.
  15. Welcome. Always good to see a fellow Penntuckian... I mean, Pennsylvanian
  16. I use an Alberto Knot to tie my leaders on. Give it at least 5 wraps up and 5 wraps back down and it WON'T come untied. http://www.stripersonline.com/Pages/Articles/article_arby_albertos_knot.shtml
  17. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Strike King couldn't have made something so horrible! I bought 4 of them and they all broke within a month. I don't even fish spinnerbaits hard. Maybe I got a bad batch or something...
  18. I currently have the Droid and will probably be getting a Droid X when it arrives. Glenn, which phone do you have? I never had any issues like that. I did do a factory reset after a software update once, but within 10 minutes EVERYTHING was back to the way it was before I did it (google backs up all your stuff, except for your photos, which are on the card and are safe). You should be ok with the email. It has the option to set up corporate calendars (exchange calendars) and exchange emails. I think there is an app to work with Blackberry Enterprise Servers, but I'm not 100% on that. A guy at work here has a Nexus One and it just got the Froyo (2.2) Update and the flash is AWESOME! You can watch all the videos on here and myoutdoortv FINALLY! The Droid will have it at the end of the month, but I don't think the Droid X will get 2.2 until the end of August. The Mobile Hotspot is a great feature. Your phone will transmit a WiFi signal and up to 5 devices can be connected at once. If you have 3G in your area, it works flawlessly (which most of the country is 3G on VZW). ok ok I'm done promoting the droids... when you work with these things everyday, you learn to talk about them too much!
  19. Rage Craw always wins Got to have the green w/ red flake!
  20. Check out some of the big companies that have Facebook. I know Strike King has been posting new stuff like madmen I saw some new Jigs and some new rage stuff (looks like they are going to release a few saltwater lures too).
  21. I guess those fish aren't like bass where you can take the shot yourself Unless you'd lay it on the sand, but I bet they wouldn't hold still.
  22. I like the El Grande tubes for a few reasons: - The colors are great and most of them aren't available anywhere else (the smallies LOVE Watermelon Copper). - The ribs give the tube a little more grit, so they hang in the fishes mouth longer (sometimes). - They are a little tougher than most tubes and the heads are thicker. Other than that, I agree with Raul, before I used El Grande tubes, they were all the same to me. I just got different brands because of the colors.
  23. wow, that made me mad just reading it. you have a much calmer temper than i do and i consider myself a laid back guy. that would have put me over the top! I don't like to make a scene when kids are around. I should have put a nice hook into the back of her chair... OOOOOPPPPS!
  24. I have to go with the El Grande Tubes in Watermelon Copper and Bluegill.
  25. I have 2 buzzbaits: 1 all black one for bass and 1 chartreuse for Pike and Muskie... That's all you ever need If you get no bites with the black, try some different retrieves. I have even cranked them so slow that they don't even break the surface.
