  1. I understand this is totally based on preference, but I just find it weird how right-handed anglers would use their dominate hand/arm to just basically cast/reel and use their less dominate hand/arm to do the majority of the work. If right-handed guys are using right handed casting reelswouldn't it be alot easier to also use right handed spinning reels? I've noticed the majority of right-handed anglers who uses right handed casting reels, uses left-handed spinning reels.
  2. Are the Cumara rods too brittle and aren't living up to its value? You can't go wrong with the warranty. Between me and my fishing buddies, we own all Crucial and Cumara rods. Just about every single one of our Cumara rods have been damaged and shipped in for a new replacement. Our Crucial rods holds up greatnever had any problems with them. But ever since the Cumara rods came outwe've broken a bunch of them. Even with the great warrantyit's still a pain when one after another breaks. As a big Shimano fanI love the Cumara, but the continuous breakage of these rods are starting to make me think twice about them.
  3. Last week my wife was out of town for almost a week. She came home and began giving me The Look for no apparent reason. Started acting like a brat towards megiving me the eye, making smart *** remarks, and just trying to pick a fight. Uh-oh, I'm in for a fight now and obviously something's not right, but more importantlywhat did I do now?! I'm franticly rewinding my memory to see if I did anything wrong during my time away from her, which I came up empty handed. A week away from her and I still managed to screw something up. I don't understand?! So, this past Saturday I was fishing a tournament, which she knew because we talked about it. She calls me up only a matter of a few minutes after I launched the boat and questioned where I was. She acted as if she didn't know where I was at and what I was doing. We got into a little heated argument over the situation and after a few exchanged harsh wordsshe's giving me the silent treatment. Woo-hoo, let the good times roll! I am completely confused as to what I did wrong. For some odd reason, she's ticked and there's obviously a reason why she is. Sure I could always go up to her and ask her what's wrong, but I'm too upset the fact that I think she's upset at me for no apparent reason. I've made up my mind that I'm not going to play her little game and I'm just going to wait this out until she feels like talking. I seriously don't know what I did and that's driving me nuts. I hate the fact that she expects me to read her mind and spend my time playing this pointless game. I'm sorry for the rant, but I'm just confused and stressed out over my current situation. Women...I got no kind words to say about them right now.
  4. Of all the things you could do to get back at your parentswhy would you do such a thing to yourself? Man is this guy really going to regret this actions.
  5. The wife took my truck over the weekend, so I wasn't able to drag the boat out. I figured, I'd just hit the old shorelines I used to fish from just to pass the time. Got down to one of my spots and it was loaded with people fishing nearby piers and many boats launching and coming in. Overall, it was pretty busy. Tied on a Strike King jig w/trailer and lubed it up with Megastrike (for the 1st time). Casted towards a busy boat ramp, I felt a tick. No wayis this for real? I thought to myself. I paused for a sec and set the hook. Landed a nice 5 lber, which hit the lure right up against the shoreline. People nearby flocked in to see it. Some guy in a van took a few pictures of me with it. I heard one guy on the pier say, we've been fishing all this time with no bites and he comes here and catches a huge one as I headed back to my car. To be honestI wasn't expecting to catch anything especially under the condition it was; especially a nice 5 lber next to a ramp that had boats continuously coming in and out. I was very surprised to say the least.
  6. With all the questions on braided line knots, what knot do you use on mono and fluoro?
  7. My 1st time out this very year for bass and it's one I'll remember. Got out on my local lake with my two bro-in-laws. Only minutes after we lauched, we heard this huge boom from a distance. We joked about it that someone blew something big. Anyways, we fished for about 2 hrs only. I had a few missed strikes. Landed one decent largemouth and nice northern pike. I lost a PIG largemouth! I saw that sucker came out and inhaled my Booyah spinnerbait. Had it at boat side and it came loose! AHHHHH! Headed back to the boat landing and noticed there were police cars, fire trucks, ambulances nearby. Then it hit me...that loud boom we heard earlier was indeed of an accident. I got back to my truck and back my truck right into a post and smashed my diver side tail light...not to mention a nasty scratch on the corner as well. OMG...my new truck! Hooked up the boat and drove by the accident to check the scene out. A SUV plowed into another car and went over the guard rail into the lake we were fishing. I just found out the man in that SUV had died. What a f'ed up day it turned out. I lost what could be my biggest bass of the season, smashed my new truck in, and someone died nearby. >
  8. I'm going to blast the grease down with break cleaning spray and clean the tube out 1st to see if that'll help.
  9. I installed a new rack steering cable and it seems like it did not solve my hard steering problem. I noticed that the grease in the tilt tube on the motor is literally black and sticky. I'm beginning to think that this is my problem. What cleaner is safe for degreasing this junk off and what grease should I lube it with once it's all cleaned up? Thanks!
  10. You get a lot of mix responses, some guys say that using braided in clear water doesn't make a difference and there are some that say that it does. It all comes down to personal preferences, if you feel less confidence in using all braid use a leader. With a leader, some guys don't like having that knot fly through the tip guide it makes that tick on its way out and it bothers many guys. I'm switching to all Hi-Vis yellow braid on all my reels with leaders, so I'm in the same boat as well. The only way to learn for yourself is to try it yourself.
  11. I've used the 2.5" - 4 " Gulp minnows (smelt) and I totally killed walleyes, crappies, white bass, and smallies last season. There were times that they did out produced live minnow, so I'm a firm believer for sure! I will never leave without a good supply of Gulp minnows. This stuff do work as advertised!
  12. I had the rack type system and I'm planning to go with a rotary since so many people recommended it. The cable length is 12 ft. Here's my question. Obviously the rack system is longer than the rotary, so if I do go ahead with the rotary, wouldn't I have to add another 1 ft in cable length to make up that distance? From the center of the wheel to the gunwale, which means that I really need at least a 13 ft cable now, am I correct? I'm thinkingeven if I many have a little more in cable lengthmore is better than less. What do you think? Should I just stick to the rack style and know exactly what I'm getting and save the frustration?
  13. You guys that live that close to all these stores are so lucky. All I have is Gander Mt. and the local Mills Fleet Farm (which is pretty good). If I can't find something I need in either store...I got to order online. I suppose it's okay, because I have tons of lakes and rivers only minutes away.
  14. I was over at Dick's and they were setting up for the season. I picked up a bunch of Xcalibur Xr50 rattle bait retailed at $6.99 each for2 for $5.00. I think they must have mislabeled their sale, so I took advantage of it. Other than thatthey didn't have anything interesting. I've only been to Dick's twicetwo different stores I've been to in my state. The closest store is over an hour from me and so far I'm not impressed with their stores. Their selections are very limited, not much to choose from. I don't knowmaybe it's the stores around here.
  15. X2 Walleyes can be finicky. With crank type lures, they prefer a constant subtle action.
  16. I love the Spro Bronzeye frog in heavy pads. Be sure to have a stout rod/reel/ and braided line.
  17. I was just thinkingyou know how supposedly the government knows a lot more than what they're telling the public. Basically denying events and just beating around the bush, always having a military answer for strange occurrencesthey're probably sitting back giggling like a bunch of school girls, while they watch the public and entertainment business spin the whole situation as nothing more than just science fiction entertainment. Speaking about stars being light years awayI remember once hanging out with my siblings at a park late at night, when I saw which I believe was an exploding star. Big white flash and as fast as it flashed in the sky, it was suddenly gone as if nothing happened. Very rare I would have to say, but awesome sight to have witnessed.
  18. I just bought the 798 and still waiting for it to arrive, but I made my decision simply because of money. I would rather have the 997, simply because in this case bigger is better.
  19. I ran a search and came up empty handed, so what size fuse would you recommend for a Humminbird 798?
  20. I hope so too, it's been awhile since I last saw something on television that really got me picking at my brain. Anyways the documentary was called; "Ancient Aliens" for those who have not seen it yet and here's the link to the schedule for upcoming show. http://www.history.com/shows.do?action=detail&episodeId=416574
  21. Three strikes and apparently he's not outmaybe a fourth.
  22. It's early in the morning and I just got done watching a documentary on extraterrestrials and the possible link between them and the numerous religions and architectural mysteries that are spread throughout our world. I consider myself as a very rational and fairly open minded person and the more I continue to watch this documentaryI'm really scratching my head and it's really got me wondering if this theory is possible. If indeed all this is truethe vast amount of evidence and unexplained coincidence linked towards the extraterrestrial or unknown is unbelievably staggering. How in the world could western science, which does not have a definitive answer to these mysteries, turn a blind eye toward this and ridicule others when they themselves do not have answers?! So far, certain evidence cannot be debunked. The Western culture has turned the subject on Aliens or the unknown as a source of entertainment, while the rest of the world views it totally differently. People fear not being in the mainstream, being different, and it's a joke to most and the majority would sayseeing is believing or show me concrete evidence. Why is that million worldwide embrace the idea of a higher being in religious faith, which afterall is based on your personal belief, and yet these very same people laugh and ridicule about the idea of life outside of our world?! Now, I'm not saying Bigfoot and the Lockness monster is real, I'm no Star Wars/Star Trek fan, I'm just simply stating that from watching this documentaryit's got me scratching my head and I found myself actually intrigued with this approach. Think outside the box. Okay, it's late...I got to hit the sack.

Remember that trophy pike do not act like your average to smaller size pikes. Spring and fall are prime times for trophy pike. Summer they move out into open deep water, chasing bait fish until fall arrives. Mean while, tons of your smaller to average pikes can be caught in and around shallow weeded areas all summer long. Targeting trophy pikes during the summer had been a challenge for a long time, but with today's technologies and some knowledge, good numbers of trophy pikes can be caught during this period.
