Topwater O rings?
Do you guys add on O rings on your walking type topwater lures to better increase its performance or do you just tie directly to it?

what is your top megabass, lucky craft, sebile lure?
I finally jumped on board the LC train and bought my first LC lures today. Got 4 Sammy 100, 4 Splash tail 90, and a popper All for $73. I hope they won't disappoint me.

Vicious Flourocarbon Line
It's actually pretty good. I used 15 lb for pitching and for my spinnerbait and it worked great all year. It's strong, sensitive, little to no stretch - just about everything you could ask for in a flouro line. For the price and amount that you could get it for - it's a good deal. I'm going to get me some more for sure.

Color line
I've always used green color fishing line, because the waters I usually fish are not all that clear. I've wanted to try out some of the yellow high vis powerpro braided line, but just couldn't bring myself to try it out. I do a lot of flippin/pitching and that high vis would be easy on the eyes when I got to keep an eye on line movements. Powerpro color tends to fade and I know eventually that yellow is going to turn somewhat white. Those who have used this color, do you see it affecting your catch ratio? Comments?

tackle and baitmonkey
Well he got to me last night. The monkey's been starving for months and I blew about $580 on 4 Curado E7s. ;D

Frogs
Hollow body frog I like the Spro. They're balanced right and you can cast a mile with them. Even though from time to time water does get into them, it's really no big deal because all those hollow bodied frog will get water in them. Buzzbait type frogs Strike King's Rage Tail is the best IMO. Lots of water commotion compared to the others on the market.

Now that its over wasnt the chatterbait craze fun!
I got suckered in to the chatterbait craze and to this day I have zero bites on that lure. People seem to be having some success with it, but I guess I'm not doing something right. My bro looked through the new BPS catalog and he's going to buy the Sexy Shad kit. I told him to forget about it and save his money, but the guy is suckered into the whole Sexy Shad craze right now.

what size trolling motor?
Get as much power as you can afford. You can always turn the power down when you don't need it, but if you're underpoweredyou can't turn it up when you need to. There will come a day that you will be thankful that you have more power when you need it.

How Are You Coping With Winter?
My daughter, fishing shows, the Internet, football, and a few runs to the local outdoor stores. Still not enough.

my reason for considering a side image...... sound different???
I'm planning to get a 798 for this upcoming season, but I've heard from a fair amount of people complaining how off the GPS feature was for these units. Those of you who have used them...is this true?

Pointers or Xraps?
I fish lakes & rivers that has a lot of toothy critters, so an X-Rap will do just fine.

Your Favorite Bronzeback Lure?
Tough choice since I love them all...I'll go with jig-n-pig.
-
what rod do you use for smallmouth fishing?
I love my Shimano Cumara CUS72M spinning rod with a Shimano Stradic 2500 for tubes. Light, sensitive, and a strong back to get a good hook set. Simply awesome!

crankbaits
I fish river smallies and they prefer a crayfish pattern most of the time. I'll usually throw small to medium diving cranks and lipsless cranks Rapalas.

Beginners References
You'll learn alot from guys who share the same passion as you do. This is a great place to start. If you got questions, there's no doubt somebody here has the answers. I learned quite a bit from videos as well.

who here misses fishing?
I feel your pain. We're getting 2-3 inches of snow every other day and that's so depressing. I tried ice fishing, but it's not the same. I'm practically making a list of what I need for 2009. Slowing going out and getting them at my local outdoors stores. Got to do something to pass the time.

Braid and cranks
I like using braid for cranking due its sensitivity and strength. You're able to feel your lure in and around structure and the action of your lure as well. Whether you're using mono, fluoro, or braid always check your line and retie when necessary. Only draw back to using braid is that you need to remember that it's not as forgiving as mono. Mono has the stretch to help fight the fish while using treble hook lures. I think braid is a fine line for cranking. Just remember not to rip its lips off when you get a strike. If you got ultra crystal clear water, a fluoro leader might be nice to add on. I've heard some people don't have any issues tying straight to the lure in gin clear water, but that one you might have to experiment on your body of water and find out yourself.

Steering System
I had a rack style system that I just took out, because my steering felt like it was out of power steering fluid. I'm looking around for a new one, but wasn't sure if I should go with another rack or go for a rotary style system. Which is better and why, thanks!

Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
Their shows are to inform, entertain, and to get us to talk. What a typical show is suppose to be.
-
Lack of fishing shows
I enjoy shows that teach you to fish instead of the ones that you just sit there and watch them catch fish. There are some shows that are informative, but tries to sell their products every 5 minutesit gets annoying. Shows like Fishing with Roland Martin for instance.

Where the heck is Bill Dance fishing?????
Almost every time he goes for largemouths, it seems like he's fishing the exact same body of water as his previous shows. All 3 lb + fish, every single one. The only time you see him fishing public waters is when he's fishing for stripers, catfish, and etc. He's got a good personality and the information he provides are useful, but the scenery tends to get boring after awhile, plus the fish he's reeling in is an exact duplicate of the fish he just released.

Looking for help in getting my first boat
I prefer deep v style boats compared to the sleek low bass boats. Safety reasons of course since I have young kids as well. It'll handle small to large bodies of waters in rough conditions well. It'll also keep you dryer as well. The wider the better for stability. Regardless what type of boat you decide to go with there's always the possibility of someone accidently going over board, but I think having the higher side walls helps reduces that chance, especially with young kids on board.
