Power pro?
I tried PP and never looked back. IMO, simply the best braided line. Sure it looses its color and begins to look fray, but looks can be deceiving.

Retying lure
Depends on types of line. Braid I don't retie often. Mono I check when I know that my line was banged up on structures or when I land a fish. I check a good portion of the line. Don't get lazy when you have to check your line, because the next bite might be the fish of a life time.

What woud you get with $60 - $100
If it was me, in my situation I would spend it on good terminal tackle and plastics. I bought tons of hard bait lures and I hardy ever use them. I go through tons of plastics.

Soft Swimbaits
Swimbaits has been around for a long time, recently a hot bait. I never got lured into the hype when it was introduced the new hot lure. Now, I'm thinking about giving it a try to see what all the fuss is about, but since I'm here in Wisconsin and the chances of me landing a double digit bass is fairly slim, so I'm think about going with the hollow body lures such as this one: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0055334123539a&type=product&cmCat=froogle&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=froogle&cm_pla=0290207&cm_ite=0055334123539a Anybody had any success with these types of swimbaits?

Is "Sexy Shad" really that good?
No doubt that KVD is a hot angler, so whatever KVD saysit's gold to the novice angler. My little bro went nuts over it and got lured in to buy one. A lot of angling success is the ability to use your knowledge and imply it to the conditions you're faced with, but to someone who is beginning to learn about the sportjust because KVD catches fish with it, doesn't mean that you will. But yeah...Sexy Shad was over hyped.

Rapala DT Series of Crankbaits ...
DTs are nice cranks. I bought about 16 of them for $3 each, which was a really sweet deal. I've heard plenty about LCs, but it'll suck to have to loose it due to a snagthat's if you don't have some type of lure retriever.

Cranky
I'm planning on concentrate more on cranking bass and I want to know what's a good cranking rod. I'm willing to spend from $100 - $170 for this rod. I'll be throwing anywhere from 4 ft to 10 ft diving cranks. I also heard that glass rods are better for this fishing technique as well. Let me know what you would recommend, thanks!

Got an early Christmas present.
Why can't my wife surprise me like that? In my situation, it's more like me surprising her of my new gears. ;D

I was this close -->| |<-- to getting my boat
Gosh don't you just hate that when people don't commit to their own words?! Got you all pumped up and restless, all for nothing. Things happens for a reason. You still got plenty months left in your search...hope it goes well.

Different type of cabin fever
I'm like a crack head. It's hard to give it up and at first it's tough, but I'll eventually level out until spring starts poking at me and then I'm hooked again.

Lack of fishing shows
I swear, it doesn't matter what season of the year it ishunting is always on. Six days a week it's deer hunting, elk hunting, even turkey hunting. That one day that they actually show a fishing show, it's soon followed by a hunting show. It's winter, fishing folks up north here are out on the ice fishing and you don't see many shows on that either. Maybe it's just me, but whenever I turn on the cable to check out the outdoor showsmore than 60% of the time its hunting. Spring, summer, fall, and winterit doesn't matter.

Vicious Flourocarbon
I gave it a shot and I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't had the chance to play around with other brands, so its difficult to compare. IMO...it good line and it's not as expensive as the others on the market.

SAD,SAD Photo!
I keep telling myself every year that I will give ice fishing a try. I didn't even realize that the water was already frozen over up here. I found out when I got there with the boat and had to make a u-turn back to the garage. ;D

Winterize
Boat owners...do you guys always winterize your boats each year? What are the chances of ruining your outboard if you did not? My father-in-law has an old boat, which he never does, but each year it keeps on ticking. What's your opinion?

are the Optima batteries really better?
I use my TM 98% of the time when I'm out on the water. I have two battery from my local Mills Fleet Farm, which is going on to their 4th year Cost me around $45 or so, each. I keep'em fully charged as much as possible and they have treated me good all these years. I think its time for new ones though, but I find there's no need to pick up batteries that are twice in $$.

Running in ice cold water
It's 14 degrees here this morning, but I was probably going to go out and run the boat one more time before I put her in storage. Is there anything I need to be cautious about when I take her in and out?

How do I remove a hook a bass has swallowed?
Funny...I had the same story this year. Was out with my bro-in-law and hooked what appeared to be my new PB smallmouth. I usually do have my net on my boat, but this day my little bro took it for himself since he left on his own trip. Got the fish next to the boat and grabbed my line. Line snapped - that was the end of that and I'm still thinking about the one that got away. I always try to have my net onboard, no matter what I'm going for. I like the flat bottom nets...they fit the fish really well.

What is that?!
I was just wondering, because I'm watching videos where the angler is pointing out to the audience and saying that "those marks" are suspending bass and I'm sure with time and experience you may build up that confidence in determining species. I went out for some crappies last weekend and came across a blob on my sonar and I automactically asumed it was crappies, because they were suspending over 16ft of water. That's what I was going for anyways. I dropped my line in and sure enough...right away I boated my limit. Lucky I guess.
-
What is that?!
How can you interpret what you see on your sonar to a specific fish you're targeting? For example, how do you know that school of suspending fishing on the sonar are suspending bass and not a school of crappies?

Who is your favorite bass fishing TV celebrity?
Al Lindner He teaches anglers how to fish for all freshwater species no matter what type of water you maybe on. I really hate watching guys catch fish for 30 minutes and offering little to no important information. Al's character on and off television is superb. I had the chance to meet him a few years back and the guy was everything I had expected, a classy guy.

Sonar Unit Brand
Maybe it's just me, but are Lowrance units better than the Humminbirds just the fact that I see more people have Lowrance units on their boats than Humminbirds? I see alot more pros on tv & magazines using Lowrance as well as the local guys on the local lakes/rivers. So, is Lowrance a better unit than the Humminbirds?

what rod do you use for smallmouth fishing?
I'm using a 7'2" Shimao Cumara rod with a Shimano Stradic 2500, spooled with 20 lb Power Pro. Great setup for me for tossing tubes and other light lures.

Minnkota Genesis
I found a Minnkota Gensis, 74 lb thrust, 24 v, auto pilot not working, for $150. Said that the motor is in good working condition. Is it still a good deal and what's your take on the Gensis? Need it for a 16 ft aluminum v-hull.

Color Vs Black/White
I've read somewhere that you could even distinguish between different species of fish as wellthe length and colors the fish arches display. Any truth to that?
-
Color Vs Black/White
What are the overall advantages of having a color fish finder compared to the traditional black/white? I'm planning on getting a unit, but can't decide if I should invest the extra $ into a color unit.
