  2. I was bank fishing with a bud of mine once. We were right next to the boat launch and noticed a boat coming in after a day of fishing. A guy got off and went to go get the truck, a gal got off and stood nearby the ramp, while the other fellow back the boat back out. So the guy in the boat had a few minutes to kill so he decided to back out to the middle of the river and began running around in circles over and over. The waves keep crashing in onto the shore making it very difficult for us bank anglers. This one big Native American guy next to me got up and grabbed a fairly hefty stick, walked towards us by the ramp, looked and us and said; this guy needs his @$$ kicked! I remember looking at my bud and said; I don't want to stick around if this crap goes down. Thank God things didn't get out of hand and no one got hurt.
  3. That reminds me of anotherI wasn't involved but was there to witness. When the spring white bass run is onthere are tons of anglers on the bank and even more on boats at this particular river. This one weekend I decided to stop by and wet my line. The bank was packed shoulder to shoulder with anglers underneath this one freeway bridge. Suddenly a couple pulled up in a boat and anchored right underneath the bridge where about 20 guys there casting. Some words were exchanged but the boat refused to budge. One guy tossed his line right over their boat and the guy in the boat grabbed the line and cut the line. Arguments erupted and the guy from the bank tied on an egg sinker and chucked it right back at the boat. The woman in the boat shrieked in pain while covering he foreheadclaiming that the man had struck her. They called the police and in a matter of a few minutes, a deputy arrived on the scene and brought the couple and the bank angler in for questioning. The deputy told the women to remove her hand and to show him her wound. She took her hand off and to everybody's surpriseshe was never struckfaking it the whole time. After a few minutes of talking and arguing, both party apologized for their actions and no one was taken in.
  4. Hands down it's the angler. Equipments are just tools, not going to make you a better angler if you don't know how to fish to begin with.
  5. Hmm...I see. So the AP only knows how to keep the boat in a straight path regardless what conditions you are face on the water unless you manually change its direction right? So those of you who do have the AP. Is it worth the extra $200 or is that something you can live without it?
  6. I'm looking to replace my 12 volt TM deep cycle batteries and would like to know which brand of battery would be a nice replacement without spending too much.
  7. The weirdest thing I caught was a plastic shopping bag. My bro-in-law's buddy caught a dead Hispanic guy in a river. That would have freaked me out!
  8. The hit on Palmer in that video - not dirty - just like the hit on Brady. The hit on Kurt Warner during the Eagles/Cards game was.
  9. I let the cover tell me which lure will be fit the situation. If it is heavily covered with open pockets here and there a floating frog/rat type lure will work best. If a bass explodes and misses the lure immediately toss a t-rigged plastic back in. If the cover isn't as thick on the surface or if the cover is just beneath the surface I like to throw a frog buzzbait. I like the frog more than the wire buzzbaits, because it will not hook onto vegetation as you're working the lure through or around the weeds. Poppers and props type lures are nice to use in and around open water near vegetation, but it is a much slower presentation. I like to move fast and look for the biters. I always have a throw back lure ready when I'm fishing topwater baits.
  10. That hit on Palmer looked very similar to the hit on Tom Brady this year.
  11. I used Vicious and it performed great. Might try Trilene 100% since I've heard great reviews on it.
  12. Ebay is my new best friend as of late. I've been saving and planning to attend a fishing show this March, which I know I was going to get great deals, but found out that my school schedule will not allow me to attend. Because of that, I've been spending big time on ebay. I found some great deals on reels and lures. Probably spent close to $1000 already with more to spend.
  13. Ooops, forgot to fill in some of the holes. This place was not a big place to fish. It's pretty common to have anglers side by side at this fishing hole. And of all the times I fish this place during the spring, not once have I ever seen an incident like this. A place where families come out to spend an afternoon - have the kids wet some line. Not a bass fishing type of situation where you're constantly tossing a lure for the next bite. In fact it was bobber fishing spot for spring spawning crappies. I understand and respect giving other anglers their space when it comes to bank fishing and during this incident, I gave him as much room as I possibly could. 20 ft was alot of room to work with, believe me. We were lucky to even have around 20 ft between us to fish. In this situation, the guy's comment and actions were out of line.
  14. I wanted the Eagles to make it back to the SB. Not an Eagles fan, but I wanted McNabb & Westbrook to get their rings. Gosh, it's going to be a weird SB this year. Can't believe the Cardinals are in itthe Cardinals?! This was one weird season for sure. At the beginning, I picked the Chargers and Giants in the SB with the Chargers winning it. I'm going to go with the Steelers. It's going to be one heck of a Cinderella story if the Cardinals pull it off like last year's Giants.
  15. I was just thinking back on a situation where I was fishing along a bank with another angler, who got upset that I was fishing too close to himif you call 20 ft or so too close. I was casting the opposite direction from him, respectfully keeping my distant from him no where close to him at all. He got mad and starting saying stuff to me. As a respectful and well manner person that I amI didn't say much to him and backed off without causing an incident. It paid off in a matter of minutes, because I moved to another spot which I ran across a school. I noticed him watching me as I pulled one after another. I was trying to make as much of a commotion as I can to get his attention. It worked of course and he watched me land one right after another. Of course, I had the biggest smile on my face and in disgust he packed up and left for home. Sometimes I feel like I need to say something to jerks like him, but I just can't seem to do it since I know I'm not a *****. This was actually the first time anything like this has happened to me. Similar stories? How do you deal with people like him on the waters?
  16. Looks great. Boy those boat projects sure are fun.
  17. I've used both and you really can't go wrong with either of them. They're both great reels. To me it comes down to the little thingsI like the way the curado feels in my hands more than the STX. Fishing all day, I like the power knobs on the curado. Plus, the curado is a bit cheaper. Again, it's on personal preference.
  18. I'm planning to upgrade to a 70 lb,V2, Minn kota PD but wasn't sure if I should get the autopilot feature. From reading the description of the autopilot, isn't that the same thing and pointing the tm in one direction and engaging the constant speed feature on? What's the difference?

Haven't tried the craws yet, but the 3 - 4" minnows are killer! I caught tons of walleyes, crappies, white bass, and smallies this past season with it without spending a single penny on live minnows. Great bait!
  20. LOL...I know how you feel. Last winter my speech class topic was on fishing as well. My last speech was a 15 minute bashing on PETA. I got a B+ in the class, although I swear to God I deserved at least an A!
  21. There's no doubt that the hottest angler at the moment is KVD. It's all about marketing and getting people to by products. Now I'm not saying that this color doesn't work either. Like many of you have already pointed out, it's got it's place and time. Anglers who have little knowledge about fishing will be the first to get hooked on these types of product craze each year. For instance, my youngest brother who does fish quite often but knows very little about it, always bite into these types of product craze simply because he thinks it will automatically sky rocket his catch ratio simply because the ad said so. Color at times may be a factor in an angler's success, but more importantly it is the ability to apply your fishing knowledge in the conditions you're faced with. What good is a Sexy Shad color lure when you don't know when and where to use it? KVD can probably out fish anglers who doesn't understand the sport from a canoe with a Barbie rod and reel simply because his greatest weapon is his brain.

Cold water situations, bass aren't willing to go far to chase down a lure so you're best options are to go with a more vertical presentation such as jig/pig, stop and pause action like suspending jerk baits, a tighter cranking action such as a lipless crank bait, or slow rolling a spinnerbait off the bottom. Whatever the presentation you choose, remember to slow down in cold water conditions.
  23. http://www.performancetackle.com/freshwater-fishing/import-japan-rare-colors//splash-tail-90/prodLuckyCraftSplashTail90.html I purchased four of these for a good deal, but never have used these types of topwater prop lures before. How do you actually work this lure?
  24. I used USPS multiple times and I never had any problems with them. Plus I beleive it costs less to ship it through them - although I never did check with other shipping companies. The key is to package your goods well in a good shipping case.
