  1. I would say get the Lateral Perch and skip it under there along with a bluegill colored jig or swim jig and maybe a swimbait or the new Big bite baits Warmouth that you rig like a worm even though it has a panfish profile. If those fail try everything you know. Even if you dont catch him you'll learn some valuable lessons
  2. Try a speed craw or another craw type bait
  3. I went fishing on my local lake a couple times this past week and I wanted to try out these war eagle finesse jigs I got. I was able to find some decent docks to skip and some boats lifts and other cover to pitch to and was pleasantly surprised to find some niced sized fish up to 4 lbs! A front moved through after it had been cloudy the day before and the wind was blowing some which positioned the fish nicely. I could not get them to bite cranks so I went with a pointer 100 and 78 and was able to catch two fish and got two more bites that came off. I really like fishing these two baits and was glad I put a little pattern together on a lake that I thought I knew pretty well! Maybe its just me but in the summer when everyone is catching fish on big worms and crankbaits it was nice to know that typical spring baits work in summer too!
  4. I need a boat when I get back up to school too much water to shore fish! Awesome trip by the way!
  5. Ive tried having the rod tip in the air and having it low and I thought I had too much pressure on the fish because everytime they would spit it the bait came flying at me so I experimented by trying to give it some slack. That I understand now is not the best approach. The rod I was using is a 6'6" med so maybe I should try my MH instead. I was using 12 lb mono which I have had good success with and is not too stretchy. I get a lot of bites with this bait and only landing about half of them is pretty frustrating but Ill change some things up and get back out on the water. Thanks for all the suggestions!
  6. I been fishing this storm wildeye shiner or whatever its called with the easy change jighead and Ive been losing some fish. I tried to bow to them when they jump but sometimes they just spit it. Is there anything I can do to increase my hookup to landing ratio or is this just the nature of swimbait fishing?
  7. I wonder how he finds his baits if theyre all jumble up like that haha and I bet he has a bunch of bent tails in there!
  8. Besides the original packaging has anyone been able to find an effective way of storing their swimbaits without bending the tails?
  9. First off welcome to the best bass fishing site out there! I would say you want to try cranks (both lipped and lipless), worms of various shapes and sizes like a senko or a ribbontail, flukes, dropshot, carolina rig, t-rig, spinnerbait or anything else you may have a hunch about. All of these baits would need to be natural colors though unless youre looking for a reaction bite which could warrant the use of more flashy colors. Hope this helps
  10. I feel like you should put the title for this post in every post you make since clearly you catch a smallmouth the size of my leg or bigger everytime you even just look at the water! You gotta great fishery out there and you obviously know how to fish it. Great Fish!!!
  11. That big girl has a tan to match! Great fish!
  12. I remember JT Kenney saying that he always had luck on a spinnerbait in the rain even if they werent hitting it before it started raining. This time of year could also be good for topwater. When I get home on Wednesday I'll be out in this and I can tell you a spinnerbait and a crankbait will be tied on in addition to a texas rigged plastic or if I want a big bite I'll go to the jig. Good luck and stay dry my friend!
  13. So for southern reservoirs they survey the land before its flooded, but for natural lakes would they map the entire lake using sonar?
  14. Thats pretty cool! But how exactly would they get the data from each body of water? Do they go to each lake in the U.S. and sweep it with sonar?
  15. I've read up a little bit about the Navionics chips and stuff but I'm still wondering how are they able to map a lake with such accuracy?
  16. Any day fishin is better than nothing and you had a good time. Good Stuff!
  17. Like the description says, what are you using?
  18. Spinnerbait, jig, lipless crank, trick worm t-rigged maybe a jerk bait thats my line up for this weekend
  19. I think the best thing to do is take a step back and think. Is it a kid who doesnt know any better or a guy who just wants your spot? If you feel like youre being infringed upon state your claim but dont be rude sometimes people just dont realize. Other times they need to be reminded that they dont own the water. Whatever your situation is just speak your mind and most people should be reasonable.
  20. After chipping my tooth eight times (non related fishing accidents) I always use pliers with the cutter or nail clippers. Ill bite in a pinch but I just hate the feeling it has on my teeth and sometimes I cant fit the line through the eye of a hook because its flattened too much
  21. If a fish will eat something like a jig that has a hard head on it I don't it would have an issue eating a bullet weight. The bullet weight was designed to slide freely on the line so when you fight the fish it has less leverage to throw the bait off. Hope this helps
  22. Looks like a norman to me the eyes give it away
  23. I need to get out there! Great Fish!
