  1. When you finally get one, go and get yourself one of these cheap thermometers. Throw the sensor inside the freezer and stick the readout to the outside of the freezer. Then you can check it at a glance whenever you walk by it.
  2. Al Davis or Mike Brown gets my vote.
  3. I think the V's I see are usually small minnows. Depending where they are, I sometimes cast at them to see if there's anything big chasing them
  4. Pardon my ignorance J. I'm still on the upswing of the learning curve. So are you thinking when you hear those type of comments at the ramp, "I knew that already." Or would you have tried the weedline for a few minutes and realized they weren't there.
  5. I AM that inexperienced angler. I AM that guy reading this post and trying to absorb the years of knowledge being spilled out in this thread. This -to me- is invaluable in trying to figure out HOW to put "the puzzle" together each time out. I believe that experience is totally irreplaceable when it comes to fishing. J Francho... you argued that "the average angler would have taken what he got at the top" and "Had I fished the past I would have failed" I would like to point out that it was "your past" or your experience that told you to fish deeper for the larger fish. BECAUSE you were experienced enough to step back in that situation and add that last piece of the puzzle --the cold front-- to your equation. If that were me on that structure I would have been doing cartwheels in the boat because I was killin 'em. Point is...experience is what everyone relies on to COMPLETE the puzzle more often. As BIG O says "consistency". Whether it's NEW water, old spots, deeper, shallower, whatever. It's no accident that the best fishermen are the ones that have been doing this a very long time. I think we all are saying the same thing, several different ways. Thanks guys for a great thread.
  6. I can't read anymore because of the tears from laughing so hard!
  7. Welcome to the Bassresource family. I think that the more you post here you will find a great group of people that are more than willing to help. Sometimes it's very difficult to separate seriousness from jest when we see a new member posting as there are many new members that have a wide range of understanding on bass fishing. Looks like you've got a bead on it. Good luck with the jig... I think you'll like it.
  8. There's a local lake that USED TO BE one of my favorites until the weed killer arrived. They just treated the lake for the second time trying to kill the hydrilla. I used to be able to catch a few good healthy fish between 4 and 6 pounds once in a while. I just went there last weekend and caught about 20 fish but they all looked skinny and sick. I have NO DOUBT that this hydrilla killing job has decimated the fishery.
  9. THAT'S why you're the boss Glenn... always one step ahead of the rest of us!
  10. At least he has his priorities in order!
  11. COMFORT??
  12. That explains all the "missing cat" posters in your neighborhood...
  13. I'm gonna have nightmares now.
  14. ingredients: Crystallized honey, pan half full of water, steam tray to sit on top of pan. All you do is take a PLASTIC jar of crystallized honey, place it in the steam tray, place steam tray on top of pan of water, place entire setup on stove, turn stove on HIGH! OH YEAH... ONE MORE THING...THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!! FORGET to pop the top on the honey jar!! What a mess!! We've never had an ant problem before, but I bet we will now!!
  15. The new one is definitely better. I might add a very small ".com" after the word "resource" for those who don't know about the site yet.
  16. Sorry to read of your loss Tom. Although there's no replacement for Indy, the best way to ease the pain of the loss is to get another pal and start the training all over again.
  17. His wife must have been away for a few hours. Mine would kill me with a frying pan if I brought an engine into the kitchen to get some photos
  18. i think Gallagher might want one for his act. I bet he could use a new vegematic!
  19. It better not be the sidewalks in Orlando. I have relatives there and they don't think that girl will survive public life. They say that there's a lot of people enraged about that whole deal. I hope nobody does anything stupid.
  20. No matter what business you choose, It's not how much money you make... it's how much you KEEP. Sweet truck Robert. Can't wait for more pics.
  21. I've used this method several times in the wife's minivan. Works great. Also helps if you put the rods in a rod sleeve. I use it most when we go on family vacations and I want to take some tackle.
  22. You're in GA... Do you tow it over a lot of hills? I think that truck would be fine on flat land if you're careful and smart about it. I wouldn't recommend it in the hilly country. Also, I think your boat weighs a bit more than a 17 ft Tracker. Use the internet to tell you. Look up the weight of your boat. Look up the towing capacity of the truck you plan to tow it with.
  23. I used to use AOL internet access and I had several connectivity issues as well. I've had no issues since switching to another provider. In short, AOL stinks, switch if you can. I'm also not a huge fan of IE. It serves the purposes of the masses, but if you want a better browsing experience, try Mozilla Firefox. It's free and IMO a much easier browser to use. I particularly like the "cool previews" add-on. It's very useful on a forum that you are browsing post after post. EDIT: Where's Burley??
  24. Catt, If you were forced to fish in daytime (in THAT tournament) what areas would you have targeted?
  25. I was unfortunate enough to witness the aftermath of a really bad "hook into the thumb of a co-angler while casting". I wasn't in the boat, but saw them after the (several hour) emergency room visit. It happened at the Roadtrip 2011 and it would have a trip ender for me. The "victim" was pretty darn tough and had a great attitude. It was easily the most miserable experience on a fishing trip I've ever seen.
