  1. so more satellites means more angles for position fixes. 16 vs. 50 Does this translate into better waypoint location? I haven't really had a chance to use it yet, because I just bought it. Is the accuracy an issue with the 16 channel? It's not gonna be 20 feet off is it? or are we talking about the difference between 6 feet and 3 feet?
  2. What differences in performance can I expect to see between these two GPS pucks? I have an 1197 with a 16 channel, looking to go to a 50 channel.
  3. GMAN, You gonna tie up some Kenlake Specials for the roadtrip? If you bring 'em, I'll probably buy as many of the hottest colors as I can afford!
  4. Is this what you want? http://www.***.com/XCalibur_XCS_Square_Lip_Silent_Crankbait/descpage-XCXCS.html
  5. If you post a pic of the switch, we might be able to help out a little more.
  6. I think you might be talking about Tom "Fishing Rhino". I have already sent him a pm with a link to this post. I'll change the name of the post... good idea.
  7. How do I fix this? The cracking is in my battery compartment. It's there because the !@$@%^&*! idiot that owned the boat before me thought it would be a good idea to drill drain holes in the bottom of the battery boxes. There's no evidence of the cracks going anywhere up the transom. The second pic is looking back towards the transom. The cracks stop there. Stringers look good. Nothing seems to be soft. I think I just need to seal this up to prevent further damage. Looking for your ideas on this... Looking down from top... Looking back towards transom...
  8. I'd say you made every other nurse in the office love you for that! They gotta work with that uptight crank. There's a lot more people laughing about that than you know.
  9. Congrats! Done that four times in the last eight years! Nothing like eviction day! Enjoy it. You're gonna miss it someday!
  10. That reel is always on sale or clearance at BPS as it is normally $100 but usually on sale for $80 and sounds like a better deal during the BPS classic. If you are interested in a quantum reel I would go with one of the PT series. I had the same issues with the BPS reel as I got one and never felt smooth after some time on the water. I cleaned it up and returned it and got another quantum. No problems with that one or any of my other quantum reels. I have no doubt quantum makes better reels. I paid $150 at the time. I also bought a Rick Clunn reel at the same time for less than $100. After fishing with both I felt ripped off for purchasing the KVD. Like I said, I am sure they make better reels.....I just wont be buying them. I also stopped relying on employees of these types of store for help with purchasing decisions. This place right here is the best place to get this kind of advice.
  11. If thats the black BPS exclusive reel then that would have made me stop using them also. twas
  12. Please don't take this as bragging, I'm just really excited and want to share my excitement. :D I'm going from this... :-? to this... Ya think fishing will change for me this year?
  13. Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle just cleaned a few of my reels and supertuned three of them. A Chronarch 50mg, A BPS Johnny Morris Sig series, and an old junky entry level Shakespeare Axiom that I wasn't using at all. All reels showed significant improvement in smoothness and casting. The Axiom was an old loaner that wasn't getting used at all. Now it can be used as a loaner/emergency backup if needed. If you've never tried it, send an older reel to Mike and let him work his magic. At least then you'll have first hand experience to draw from. Mike won't let you down.
  14. I got 3 casts out of a Quantum KVD Sig series reel before it locked up and died. That was all it took for me. I'm done with Quantum baitcasters.
  15. Probably should have done this BEFORE I ordered it, but just wanted to get some thoughts on the Minn Kota 440D onboard charger. Just added a new 36 volt TM, which made me have to buy all new batteries, which led me to buy the MK 440D. Anyone have any experience with one of these?
  16. More than likely, you'll need to replace these when you get them out. I don't think they can be removed without destroying them. Someone might have a way, but I don't know of one. If the screw isn't rusted and seized in place and you can remove it leaving just the rubber part, grab the square top part and pull and stretch it up. Then take a hacksaw blade and CAREFULLY (don't scratch your boat) and slowly cut the top off. The remaining part can be pushed thru the boat and pulled out from the inside. If the screw is rusted in place, the nut will turn on the inside and you'll need to either: 1. Grab it with a set of channel-locks on the inside while turning out the screw on the outside. or 2. Cut the top off with a hacksaw and pull the rest thru from the inside. You'll want to put some tape on the fiberglass around the bolt so you don't scratch your boat. I just got some new isolator bolts from Amazon.com. They seem to have the best prices.
  17. I am considering mounting my 1197 at the console on a ram mount that can be turned around to face the bow. I'd like to switch to a TM mounted transducer when at the bow and switch back to the transom transducer when running and scanning.
  18. Reading very intently. My 1197 should arrive middle of next week. Going to do the install (my first ever attempt) on Friday the 25th. Feel free to post or pm me with any other suggestions. I wanna do this one time and do it right. I'm all eyes and ears! Rhino, you'll get to critique my work at the roadtrip.
  19. Sounds like seat belts might be a good idea for the new Skeeter. How the heck do you stay in the boat, let alone stay in control when turning that hard and fast at top speed? More balls than I got. :-X
  20. Wasn't Viper Cobra one of these?
  21. I think I'm gonna build an aluminum adapter plate out of 3/8" plate aluminum. I'll bolt it to the boat using the old holes and then drill the holes for the terrova.
  22. Yeah, the bolt pattern is not even close. I was gonna just fill them somehow and drill new ones. It'd be great if I could figure out a way to use the old holes.
  23. Tom, that's as good as it gets, on a lot of levels! 8-)
  24. Just got a new Terrova 36V, 101#, w/ipilot. Need to get this thing mounted on the bow. When I took the old (and original 1999) MG TM off, the holes in the bow were filled with some Motorguide rubber bushings. How are these things fastened in the bow? I can't get them out without drilling them out. And... Are there any new bushings for the MK to use for mounting it? I bought the Terrova off a guy that had it for two months. He didn't send any rubber bushings with it.
  25. I have Navplanner2. Inside the "GPS Data Transfer" window, under the "model" tab, there's a dropdown menu that includes all the different types of GPS devices to transfer to. On that menu listed are: Garmin Garmin PVT Garmin USB Not sure if this helps, but it looks like Garmin is included.
