  1. In Indiana it is illegal to do that in PUBLIC waters. Totally legal in private waters. Like Jack said already, just walk them over. You should be fine.
  2. Bass don't like gorilla snot. Fish elsewhere.

I make a motion to have some warning points removed from hootiebenji. If that isn't repentance, I don't know what is!
  4. I agree Wayne. I have installed the motor case ground wire. By itself it did not resolve the issue. I'm going to try to re-install the negative (TM battery) to negative (starting battery) jumper to see if that makes any difference with the motor case ground wire installed now. I have the ferrite bead now but have not installed it yet. The instructions did not come with it so now I am looking for some. I fear that my motor might in fact need to be rebuilt. It runs great, however, when I was tinkering with it yesterday I took the prop off to check for fishing line and ran it a little with the prop off (in my garage). I noticed two things... First, there was an intermittent squeaking noise coming from the motor. I have never noticed that before. It didn't sound right. I'll need to call MK about that one. Second, the TM shaft got very hot during the few seconds that I ran it in the garage. Too hot to touch. In the water this would be cooled quickly so I'm unsure about this. I suspect it is not normal. Another thing, I ran it in shallow water a few weeks back and ran the prop into a submerged laydown that stopped the prop for a few seconds, maybe ten seconds or so. The result, I think, was the red wire next to the spade connector under the head unit cover was melted and a new spade needed to be installed. I'm getting closer to the solution. I can't wait till I get it.
  5. That would be a little hard on the credit score. Two or three, or TEN years later when you want a loan for your dream ride, the bank says "ahhh, NO.".
  6. Can I vote again for DEAD snake?
  7. I might get a pair of Wiley's just so I can compare. I hear that darned monkey whispering in my ear again!!
  8. Yes Tom, as Wayne said, any TM can cause it. It seems that the Terrova is particularly bad for this. Thankfully Humminbird has several ways to mitigate this noise. I've heard that Minn Kota's have more interference due to the composite shaft that is non-conductive. Many people have resolved the noise problem with a ground wire ran from the head unit of the TM to the negative terminal of the TM batteries. However it did not resolve my issues. If I didn't have the 360 I wouldn't still be chasing the interference issues. I need to find a way to install the ferrite rings on the 360 cables (I'm talking about where and which cable) to eliminate the noise. The standard SI/DI transducer has the rings installed and has no issues. The problem is that the 360 uses an Ethernet cable to send the transducer info to the head unit for processing and I cannot get very many wraps around the ferrite ring. Work on this issue is ongoing and I will post more info when I get it.
  9. I have an 1198 and the 360 imaging transducer. I've had this thing about a month now and have used it on the water three times. Lets start with the positives... I love the idea of looking forward of the boat and scanning structure and cover all around the boat. The installation was a breeze. Humminbird support has been very helpful so far. ....segway... It's a good thing because I've needed them. Now for a few negatives, The interference issue continues to rear its ugly head. I have a Terrova non-US2 TM. It interferes terribly with my 360. When the TM turns on, it's a white out on the 360 screen. The DI and SI screens are fine now thanks to the ferrite rings I've installed that HB send me. I've been chasing my tail for a LONG time on this issue. I keep getting error messages that the 360 unit doesn't deploy or retract fully when doing that from the head unit. This is the next issue to discuss with HB. The software doesn't seem to be quite there yet. It seems buggy. I'm using software version 6.64. The screen switches to the nav screen almost randomly. And I get another error message that says something like 360 lost contact with source. The heading sensor doesn't seem to work correctly. The boat icon points in odd directions when underway. It should be pointing in the direction I'm traveling. The imaging doesn't seem to be as sharp as the SI and DI images. Some of this might be a learning curve on my part, but I'm going on four years with this technology and I think I know my way around it pretty well. Overall, I think that Humminbird is on to something here with this technology. I just think they need some time to develop the technology so that it produces the images that they use for their advertising. More to come as I work out the bugs....
  10. I like my Costas better than my Maui Jim's, Ray Bans, and my Oakleys. The fit is best. The lenses are more difficult to tell the differences but I have been able to try them out looking at the same things underwater by taking one pair off and putting on another and after that I feel that the Costas have the best lenses. Keep in mind that not all of my lenses are the same shade so that may or may not have made some difference. Just my $.02
  11. As far as the baitfish breaking the surface convincing you that bass are there, you're probably correct, they're bass, but could they be WHITE bass? This has been a fairly common sight at many of the southern lakes I've fished (like Guntersville, and Kentucky and Barkley). I've been so frustrated on Kentucky while in the midst of this, that I just wanted to quit fishing altogether. I didn't figure it out until I started studying my electronics and scanning coves to try and get a better picture. After I got the hunch, I threw an inline spinner and caught a few. Then I knew. Time to move to different water. They're not always largemouth.
  12. I let snakes live if I see them in the woods, but in my house is a different story. Wrong turn, snake. You're dead. It has never happened and hope it never does. If it did my wife would probably burn the house down.
  13. You're just gonna have to start buying uglier fishing shirts Jeff! Wait, uh, never mind.
  14. Went way back into a secluded cove to take a leak and as I was in mid-stream I looked up to see three hikers (two ladies and a guy) standing on the shore staring at me laughing. After the struggle to turn the faucet off (you all know how hard that is) I zipped up and waved an apology wave and got the heck out of there! Afterwards I was thinking to myself "I hope they were only laughing at my situation".
  15. I make ten times more money now than when we first got married. She still complains the same now as she did before. I don't get it. Not to mention that she makes way more than I do. (She's a lawyer). The only thing I can come up with is that she can't believe how expensive fishing equipment is. After I'm dead and gone, I just hope she doesn't sell it for what I told her I spent on it!
  16. There are a few differences just within the mustang brand itself. My suggestion is to read up starting here...http://www.mustangsurvival.com/recreational/inflatable-pfds?country=25 I have a mustang and I like it a lot.
  17. I'd stay away from the skunk. They can't be trusted. I've had good luck with the owl. Tell him I sent you.
  18. I learned what "slonezp" was! Every time I relieve myself I think of you buddy!
  19. Looks good. I like your ingenuity. Be sure and seal that hardwood with some good spar varnish or something. Also, how confident are you that those flagpole holders will take the stress if you lose your balance and they need to keep you upright? Some kind of strap going from low on the side of the boat to the underside of the rigger pole would help take the stress loading in that scenario. Just a couple thoughts.
  20. I'd keep the boat unless it was used to jump waterfalls, then I'd sell it and get another one like it.
  21. Wayne, wouldn't he need to re-mount the ducer to the bottom of the holeshot plate? As I understand it from looking at this photo, the plate covers the entire bottom of the jack plate. If a re-mount is necessary, wouldn't an overall better location for the ducer be down on the step to the right or left of the drain plug? That is the only location that has "clean water" to shoot through. It seems to me that turbulence at any speed other than a crawl is the culprit here. I understand that many of the boats you are seeing are using the jack plate mounting location. How are they eliminating the interference generated by the boat when moving at non-trolling motor speeds?
  22. No wind on Pickwick today! Let's go!
  23. How close are your neighbor's cars?
  24. Notice how slowwwwww most of the lures are moving? Does that tell you anything?
  25. I think you did great! Ten bucks doesn't go very far these days. You got a lot of stuff for a little money. Great job!
