I have Megastrike, use it mostly to lube worms for coming thru weeds better, and I've had it (I believe) help. I also have and use JJ's Magic, but not all the time. Like Marty, Scott and the others, it can be a hit-or-miss thing. I seem to have most success sans-scent, but there are times when it seems scents help.

Crocs, but I recently picked up Shimano Evair fishing "shoes". Basically barefoot style with a super stable bottom which makes standing in my Ultimate 12 very comfy. I'd recommend a decent fluoro like Bass Pro XPS Fluorocarbon, or something like P-Line Floroclear (FC coated copoly line), or YoZuri Hybrid in anywhere from 6-10 pound tests.

I love these worms on size 2 or 1 Wide Gap Finesse or Split/Drop Shot hooks (Gamakatsu) rigged wacky style!! Yes they get a ton of hits from smaller fish, but I've caught a lot of bass on them. As well, I like to rig them in a split shot method for deeper presentation, either nose hooked, TX, or wacky.

You can find braid down even lower in pound test. Bass pro sells PowerPro in as low as 3, 4, and 5 lb test. Then tie on a 2-4 lb fluoro leader. Line management heaven! But beware, down that thin you want to avoid wrapping it around body parts for snags and such....

Plenty of good suggestions, let me add the Daiwa Lexa. Solid reel, casts very light baits, Daiwa quality. Can be had from $100-115 from reputable eBay sellers. If you want to take a chance like I did, find a Shimano Chronarch E series on eBay. You could win a bid around $150... I use my chronarch for almost everything I used a spinning setup for.

Might I suggest you buy some wacky hooks to complement the sport. I like Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse hooks for just the purpose. If you're close to a Bass Pro, they have 'em in stock. I like size 1 the most, some guys here prefer larger. First, no, I've not tried the Rage rig, others who have may chime in on that. Wacky is my #1 way to rig senko-style baits. My other go-to baits for wacky are Zoom Finesse and Trick worms. I'll either weightless-rig or use a weedless wacky jig for senko-style, etc. Wacky is absolutely killer in these parts. I weightless TX rig, too, and I will also both wacky and TX rig a worm using a split-shot further up the line to give a different presentation in the depths. Wacky rigging is easy and quite fun. I heartily suggest you try it. One thing though, be patient. Be aware of what you're throwing the rig into, especially if it's not a weedless hook. If it's a heavy worm, let 'er sink a bit, then give it some action to keep it above/out of the sticks (unless weedless). If it's something like a light Zoom Finesse worm, give it more time, then twitch your rod tip 1-3 times up, let it sink back down and her action will do all the work to entice the bass there.
