  1. Welcome aboard, Caleb! Lots of folks here fish the Richmond area, and, as seen above ^^^, the advice will start pouring in .
  2. Welcome aboard, Cade!
  3. There you are! I was browsing members the other day, saw @Raul and thought, wonder where he's been.....? Welcome back, mate!
  4. Hi, welcome aboard!
  5. I use Zman's weedless jigs. They work for me, though I do find the wire a *tad* stiff. I've caught bluegill on them, though, so I don't think the wire is a real issue. Have also bought regular Zman Ned jigs and tied a strand of 40# mono leader. A little tedious since there's not a lot of room to tie, but they have worked well for me.
  6. I dunno either But I'm not surprised one thing works for someone but not another. Got a buddy who swears by bubblegum senkos, trick worms and all that at HWM. Never caught one on that color myself. So go figger.
  7. I've done most all of the above (not all). Origs in Ziplock bags for storage, as-needed. Plano boxes just worms Tackle boxes with packages, worms, lures Plano Guide box with both Currently back to boxes with worms out of packages as I've begun a new tweak to tackle storage on my yak. Will see how it works out this year.
  8. Odd, I have *never* experienced losing a fish on these due to the weedguard. That said, there is a reason I tie my own, I think they perform better. I'd agree with you that the "original" guard is not very good. They do get a lot of debris as well as they can move around after a lot of use.
  9. I use a MinnKota C2 30, modeled similarly to how BassYaks does their kits. Some pix below, and it's since been modded some more. There are now a TON of YouTube vids on DIY trolling motor on kayaks. I did mine before a lot of these folks did. There are some inventive mods out there. As for car topping these, you just take the motor off and top it. I've done it with my Native U12, though I mostly use a truck. Craigslist is a great place to find used peddle yaks.
  10. How about price range? You can go from $300 to thousands. Peddle yaks start around $1500. FWIW, I use a trolling motor on mine steer-controlled by my feet. Makes fishing SO much easier in windy conditions, and in general. Reverse is something I make massive use of, so if I were in the market for a peddle yak, I'd have to have reverse. That means something with a drive system like Native's Propel, or Hobie's 180 drive.
  11. Yes I fish them. Prefer to buy the 25 packs and make my own weed guards. Sizes anywhere from #4 to 2/0, with the larger being used on worms 6" and up. They work fine with 4 and 5" as well. For me the sweet spot is #1 and 1/0. I primarily throw 4" senkos wacky rigged.
  12. Welcome aboard, Elijah!
  13. A little more detail needed. What's your height? Are you a big fella? How about price range? Reason I ask size questions, for some a 10' yak is a great size, others may need something 12-14' with greater buoyancy, etc.
  14. Dang! I bought some frogs from DSG on clearance/sale. Not caught on them yet, but no where near $200 bills. That said, I came home with 5 frogs.
  15. Welcome aboard, Zach!
  16. Hmmm. I, too, have a hybrid. I came from a 15, or was it 16' Grumman aluminum canoe. I MUCH prefer my Native Ultimate 12, exception being I cannot take another person or two with me. My hybrid is much more stable. I made pontoons for the canoe, which definitely helped. But I just prefer the kayak.
  17. Welcome aboard, Josh!
  18. Welcome aboard!
  19. Darren. replied to Alvin's topic in Fishing Tackle
Welcome aboard, Alvin! Many of us have used it for years (tho I haven't for the past 1.5) regularly. There are many discussions of the product on the forums, but I've not heard whether it is toxic to fish or not. Personally I've released many fish after catching on JJ's magic stained baits. Never saw one come floating back up after fishing... Not that that means anything, but ....
  20. Welcome aboard, @Shortstak1124. It is unfortunate you have this problem, but best to take it up with Bass Pro Shops. I have ordered rods from them, usually ship-to-store, and never experienced your issue. As well, BassResource frowns upon posts bashing retailers. From the FAQ: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/guidelines/ I have a dispute with 'company X'. Can I post about it here? While we can empathize with your frustration, the best course of action is deal directly with the company. Escalate it up the ladder, file a grievance with PayPal or Ebay (if they were involved with the transaction). File a mail fraud complaint with the post office. There are other options, but attacking the company in a public forum is not appropriate nor allowed. Such posts will be removed.
  21. Just don't kill your dog when you realize it's licking your face during your nightmare
  22. Grammar Nazi among us. Oi.... Actually, it should now read "@J Francho, @Gundog, and me are technical like that."
  23. I'm still on V1 of PP SS8, gonna be for a while given the 1500 yard spool. But it is nice to see a detailed review like this.
