  1. Thanks Basser. Anyone know of a website that publishes the water depth on the river? I swear that some of the rocks I usually fish around and sit on are completely under water right now!
  2. Fished the river this morning. It was tough...water was VERY high, and VERY stained. We really couldn't get that far out, but that didn't stop me from getting my PB bass. Not just small mouth, but bass period. She was huge. No waterproof camera, so just memories. She was about 22'' though and fought like crazy! Hopefully the river will come down soon...
  3. Happy Memorial day to all you guys. If any of you have lost someone, you have my utmost respect, condolences, and thanks. Going out to fish the Potomac tomorrow for the first time this year. Needless to say, I AM PUMPED. Anyone been around Harpers Ferry this year?
  4. I've never used one. I do however, see why, and understand why people would.
  5. Boys are different than girls. I would hope you would have noticed that by this point in your life.
  6. A response that calls the OP pathetic if a joke...it's a little girl he's talking about. If you knew it was going to die, the best thing to do would be kill it. A good heavy stick does the trick. Rocking it back and forth in the water...that's no good. Quick death > Slow Death
  7. I love fishing and I love hunting, but slow deaths are not something I enjoy. I gut hooked a bass last night really well...he was bleeding profusely when he came out of the water. I steel myself with the same thought you mentioned; a snapper or raccoon has a free meal tonight. You could also mention that less 2 lb bass means more 10 lb bass.
  8. Thanks for the info jmh!!
  9. Loch Raven has been slow for me lately...lots of Pickerel, but not so many bass. I was out in the rain the other day, and not a single hit from a bass. On another note, has anyone been on the Potomac lately? Going this friday, and wondering if it's warm enough to wade in yet.
  10. I'm at Loch Raven about four times a week. I live about two mins from the water.
  11. I read this thread this morning, and was quite excited as it rained all day. Got out of work, went straight to the water with my buzz baits, and got totally skunked. I wanted to cry...
  12. I don't know of any farm ponds around here...if you find any let me know!
  13. My problem is I'm turning the sonar on, and I look at the display, and I'm not really sure what I'm looking at. Thanks for the help! I'm checking out the link now, and I'll be reading the tips about 20 times.
  14. So I got out on the water today, and was pumped to use my depth finder finally. Turned it on, and realized I have no clue what I'm really looking at. I tried searching for a how-to, but came up empty. Anyone know of a good place that would give someone a good idea of what they're looking at? Thanks!!

I LOVE Mepps spinners. 3's and 4's are my favorite, and the Aglia Long #4 slays big bass. I would agree with a previous post; pre and post spawn, Mepps slays the bass.
  16. I rig my Ika's with Gammy 4/0 EWG hooks, and they work beautifully. I rarely miss now that I've got the correct hook in there. I love that bait!
  17. I would guess it might be absorbing...the stuff seemed really soft. It's a predetor K111. I had it pretty much in the middle, but off to the side a bit, as it has a small keel. (I think that's the right word.) I'm thinking that 3M 5200 is not as good as I was told. Marine goop is being suggested by quite a few. I guess I'll find some of that.
  18. I need your help badly. I am a professional musician, and am really bad at this stuff. I am trying to mount my transducer on the inside of my kayak. I lightly sanded the spot, applied a marble sized amount of the suggested adhesive (3M 5200), and put a weight on it so it wouldn't move. Went out to the lake today, and it didn't work. I got home, was worried about how I was going to get this thing off the kayak. I pulled it right off... There was only a very thin layer of the stuff, and it peeled right off the transducer. So, what did I do wrong? I'm dying to get on the water and use my depth finder!!
  19. Went fishing today and caught a nice sized fish...for me anyway. Anyway, when it came up to the top of the water, I noticed it looked like it had gotten punched in the mouth. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but it had black spots on its mouth, and one spot where he had a big swollen lip. Never seen that before, but thought of you guys when I did.
  20. Your best bet is to annoy them into attempting to kill what ever you are throwing. They are pretty zoned in on doing nothing but protecting the nest. Either annoy them, or find that spot on the nest that makes them attack.
  21. I think that is a really good hypothesis. Everytime I see it, it's quite warm out, and the sun is shinning. I bet that's exactly what they're doing.
  22. I'm curious if any of you guys know of a website that posts the water temp of the potomac river. I just tried finding one, but I can't. I'm curious mainly about the water around the bridge near Harpers Ferry. Thanks!!
