  1. How big is too big? This one isn't intended for bass fishing, but do you think you would ever throw one? This bad boy is 15 3/4 " long and weighs between 24-25 3/4 ounces!!
  2. Welcome fellow Wisconsonite!!
  3. Who is your team? Who'd they pick? Happy with their pick? Let us know!
  4. Thanks for sharing. Very cool.
  5. An opaque black stands out really well in the water, I personally would also consider black a "natural" color. There are a lot of dark-shaded critters swimming around in water, Leeches, some frogs, bullheads and other fish, some craws. Black is is the natural color that best stands out and gets noticed in most situations. As for the blue, a common thought is that because some craws get shades of blue when they molt, we use blue flake. But Blue is also one of the colors that can be seen and distinguished at most depths, as opposed to red or orange which commonly fade to grey after 5-10 feet.
  6. Take care of it, my first two baitcast reels were black maxes. One fell to the depths of lake, attached to a vendetta :/ . The other has since had its mechanical failures, but it was going strong three years in. The reel had a niche where it performed flawlessly casting topwaters with 8lb mono. So it became a dedicated setup for topwaters. That being said, I think a Black Max is a fine reel. It all boils down to preferences and experiences. I'd take a Black Max over a lot of other reels up to $60, and any quantum under 100 . Restating what others have said, a 100+ reel is a lot better, which is a good thing! I would suggest your next purchase be a reel in the 100 dollar range, something like a Daiwa Tatula or Lews Speed Spool. If you decide you'd rather not spend that much on a reel, I highly recommend the Shimano Caius. Retails 69.99 but can be had for much less, take advantage of sales. I got mine for about $55 and I really like it. Never used to be a Shimano guy, but that Caius has to be the best sub $70 out there.
  7. There doesn't seem to be a set pattern on which positions fish strike more. You would think the lures on the bottom would get more reaction strikes, because in theory they will be closer to the bass, but the majority if the fish in this video will follow the rig for awhile before striking. Just as many bass if not more, struck the top lures than the bottom lures.
  8. http://www.overstockbait.com/z-man-chatterbait-big-game-series/ This site has two colors available for 2.99 haha. Also having a lot of other Musky stuff on sale.
  9. Golf is pretty fun, my girlfriend took me a few years ago, I liked it and bought a cheap set of clubs. Golf can be super expensive, but it doesn't have to be. Compared to fishing, you can buy all of your clubs for the same cost as one fishing rod. Then you need one glove, and then the cost of the course. I don't know about you guys but I can play 9 holes at a par 3 for like $10. Many courses also offer discounts to students.
  10. Take her to the topwater section of your local tackle store and let her pick out one! Let her pick out her favorite color senkos while your at it. If you are really worried about her not setting the hook ( which is pretty much just reeling when wacky rig fishing) in time, and deep-hooking fish, then use circle hooks!
  11. I use the $5 YUM pair from Walmart. I have about ten pair, they come in both smoke and amber lenses.
  12. Good info here. Yeah I would also suggest making sure your line is a small enough diameter for what you are fishing. I have a 6'6" M action Vengeance spinning rod and I can wing out lighter lures no problem. I use 10lb powerpro (braid) as the mainline, which is a very small diameter and casts well. Otherwise 6lb monofilament is a good option. If you have a spare spool, you could just spool up wiht different diameter lines and switch when you want to target panfish. If you don't have a spool you could purchase a quality reel in the $20-30 range that comes with a spare spool.
  13. I like a wide variety of music, my favorite genre right now is probably hardcore stuff, Motionless in White is my favorite band. Other than that I like a lot of hard rock ( 3DG, Shinedown, A7X, Killswitch, Breaking Benjamin, Escape the Fate). My girlfriend has gotten me into some alternative stuff like One republic, Imagine Dragons, and coldplay. As well as some softer pop music. For other pop music : uptown funk is my radio jam. I would like rap music more if the majority of available content wasn't horrifically offensive, artificial, ungenuine, repetitive, and so on... jmo That Baby metal is some sick sounding stuff, I would probably really dig it if I understood Japanese.
  14. I am with you man, when I first started to get into fishing I used 5 inch senkos with size 1 and 1/0 offset round bend worm hooks. they worked fine back then, today I don't like to go over 3/0 with a 5 inch senko.
  15. Same, I take the split ring off all my cranks, jerkbaits, and topwaters (that use them). And I just use Duo Lock Snaps instead. You can buy Mustad KVD ones at walmart for not a bad price.
  16. did you look this up on your own personal computer? If so you can check your complete page history, try to remember the time of day you saw the page and go from there.
  17. I'll probably do some pond hopping around the Eau Claire area.
  18. I have 2 favorites, the Xcalibur xs4/EEratic shad. and the RC STX. Both work differently and are different tools for different situations.
  19. For the price, Abu Cardinals are hard to beat. 35-40 bucks for a reel that I would put up against any other spinning reel. Durable and great drag, don't know what else you need in a spinning reel.
  20. Check to see if there is a specific season for them. They are a threatened species. You might Also have to buy a tag.
  21. If it is legal, and the angler has the intention of keeping the fish, then I have nothing wrong with snagging fish. I personally usually don't fish to keep, but I don't think it is a bad thing. In this case, kind of like sturgeon spearing in wisconsin, I would think of this more like hunting. than fishing.
  22. I found this image on Ebay. It has the same logo on the top of the package. Looks like it is a japanese company. Never heard of it before though.
  23. Assuming it is TW, does buying a gift card bring you over? Also: These are some unique (to me) things on my list for my next order. Z-man Pop Shads, batwing trailers, diesel minnowz, plametto bugz, hard leg frogz, and turbo crawz. Mustad Fastach football head weight (swinging jig) R2S S-waver You could also buy a bunch of stuff on the clearance page, Stock up on a few of your favorite hard bait or hollow belly frog! and I 2nd getting a t-shirt or hat!
  24. I have one, I bought it a few years ago at a Farm&Fleet, they have at least one more there too. Havent fished with it once besides testing out to see its action ( I don't fish mid - deep cranks much).
