Trigger Grips with Bare-Blank Access
The trigger part of the Pac Bay minima seats come in different hole sizes to fit directly to the blank, giving you maximum sensitivity. The threaded portion will need to be shimmed in order to fit the blank. You could go the masking tape/epoxy route, fiberglass mesh tape/epoxy, or ream out a graphite arbor, which would probably give you the most sensitive connection. With that much of the blank exposed though, it shouldn't matter how you glue it on. Good luck on your build.

Revo S
Could you tell me where you found the anti reverse bearing and part number? Or did you buy the entire sideplate? I am really looking for one of those.

? for rod builders
No need to spend that money on the starter kit. All of it can be made with some scrap wood, misc. hardware, and hand tools. A drying motor is nice to have, but not an absolute necessity. If you were to buy anything the book would be the best to get you started. As for components, you could hand pick cheaper components and end up with a nicer rod than what is in the kits. JMO

A couple more of my little creations
Does the mend it hold up to more than one fish? Never used it, but I'm curious. Those look great

Uni knot to peg weight
I do something like that when I'm using spinning gear. Braided line, sliding sinker, rubber bobber stop, fluoro leader tied on with a uni-uni knot, hook and choice of bait, usually a 4 inch Robo curly tail worm. Finesse c-rig or sliding sort split shot rig. Killer!!!

That is an awesome butt wrap! Looks great. Nice job.

top eyelet cracked
I agree. Just go easy with the heat when you're getting the old top off. Seen many rods ruined that way. Easiest way would go to a tackle shop and you won't have to worry about finding the proper size or having a mismatched tip.

Geez I hate spinning tackle
Braided line on spinning gear has been the answer for me as well. 10, 15, and 20 lb suffix has treated me very well with or without a leader. It doesn't fall off the spool when you open up the bail, and it definitely cuts down on the line twist to the point that it almost does not exist. I agree 100% with closing the bail manually and I always give the line a small tug to ensure that any loose coils are tightened up to avoid those nasty snarls on your next cast. Spinning gear has definitely earned a place in my lineup since spooling up with braided line. I would try it before giving up on it. It catches too many fish to not have one with you.

Abu Revo parts not listed in schematics
I'm in need of a few parts, and I was hoping someone here (Delaware Valley Tackle) could help me with. Spool pins for Revo shafts that hold the bearing and engages the pinion. Damaged while removing it from the shaft. would like to have about 12 pieces in reserve. Roller bearing for a Revo. Damaged while trying to get it out to clean it. Only need one. Could anyone help me find these parts? Thanks

Curado 101D & Sol B/C Reels For Crankbaits?
I have a Sol and it works great for cranks. Gets those smaller baits out there very nicely. If you have more than one cranking setup though, you won't be disappointed with a slower reel either.

got the reel need the rod
I never used the St. Croix, but I love the Powell glass 703CB. It balances so nice with the Winch. Casts great, has a really nice tip and bend that keeps the fish hooked during the fight.

Any lower priced reels compare to Revo
I concur. But the one on sale is the PQ tournament, which is a lightweight version of the silver PQ. Very similar to the Carbonlite, which are all similar to Revos.

rain water on fishing reels
Acid rain will really screw it up. Otherwise you should be fine.

Phenix Rods
Gonna have to get some West Coast guys to answer this one. Seems like a local favorite, and availability. They were all over the place out there when I was there, but they seem to place a heavy emphasis on stocker trout gear. The ones I handled were nice and light, and had a nice feel to them, but I've never fished one and caught anything.

Upgrades for baitcasters?
Try removing the seals from them and see what difference they make. I just installed a set of spool bearings and out of package thay spun like sh_t. So I removed the shields, flushed, dried, lubed... It is incredible what a difference there is. I left the shields off. They won't be put back on.

Thank you, I think I'll give Mudhole a call

BSP Pro Qualifier or Carbonlite?
The flyer states that the PQ weighs just under 7.1oz. The Carbonlite weighs 6.7. My guess is that the PQ on sale was a prototype for the Carbonlite. (graphite sideplates, aluminum crankshaft, main gear, worm drive) The Carbonlite has the carbon fiber handle which is probably the reason for the weight and price difference. If the internals are the same, it's a matter of reel color and handle.

Revo Premier comparison
The 4 extra bearings probably come from the bearings in the handle. The real improvement probably comes from the dual cast control and the infini 2 spool. Which is a disengaging pinion gear. I'm not sure the 09 model had that. Either way I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. FWIW, I just recently did a complete overhaul on my SX and Winch (complete teardown, degreasing, relubing, bearing flush, pinion gear polishing, and they are casting further and feeling better than ever) We'll see if the upgrades Abu made to the new Premier are that significant. I never fished the older model.

Couple of new rods
Nice work! Love the way the inlays on the grip turned out. If you don't mind me asking, how long is the butt on the cranking rod, and what size seat did you use for the exposed blank? Been wanting to order the same blank but didn't know what size reel seat to order. I have a set of titanium framed sic's just begging to be used.

Lucky Craft Slim Shad
Just picked up a few of these and was wondering if any one here has any experience with them? Any tips on how to work them effectively?
