  1. I'm still struggling to understand what they mean by "growing the sport".
  2. Do we need to count how many of your posts are condescending and arrogant towards others' questions or responses? Nothing about the op sounded like anything other than a question about angler consistency between tournament formats.
  3. I would go with the Simms. 3-layer fabric with the Gore-Tex lining. I believe the hydronaut is only a 2 layer fabric. The Simms will also be way lighter.
  4. I guess so. I mean, I am posting my thoughts on a bass fishing forum from my comfortable toilet, in my comfortable home, from a miniature computer that can also make phone calls.
  5. I think it's definitely more difficult to be consistent with the "every fish counts" format. Good finishes rely heavily on an angler finding a giant school of bass which I find is often luck. Look at Zach Birge and Edwin in the Redcrest. Both found megaschools and smoked everyone. Had it been the traditional format, they both would've weighed 9lb bags. The same thing happened at Table Rock with Cliff Pace (pretty sure it was Pace) and I'm sure there are a bunch more examples of this in MFL/BPT competition.
  6. And the ultimate troll award goes to...
  7. After watching the BPT Conroe tournament footage and Luke Dunkin's podcast with Tim Horton, I felt a strong urge to rant.... Timmy H and the BPT commentators said something really silly that I needed to point out. Something to the effect that the BPT will finally allow anglers to fish professionally without going broke. That the new, young guys won't have to be rich in order to fish at the highest level. Uhhhhh....REALLY? Don't they still have to pay THE SAME AMOUNT to even have a shot at qualifying for the entry-fee-less BPT?? The "feeder FLW pro tour" still costs $40K in entry fees along with the same travel and gear expenses. Not to mention, it will still be a couple years before anyone else is even "accepted" into the exclusive club. And who knows how many slots they'll even open. I have a hard time believing the angler owners are going to want to relinquish their spots on the tour to newbs and have to pay entry fees again. Sorry for the negativity!
  8. Try ***.com Oops, didn't realize that was another no-no site. Sorry site admins.
  9. The whole thing doesn't quite make sense to me. Cater to an audience that doesn't really care about the sport? Are these folk ever going to pick up a rod and reel and try it out? Are they gonna drop 70k on a boat, thousands on tackle, and donate money to the tournament organizations? I guess the idea is to get new people into the show rather than the sport? I wonder how many sponsors will pull out like Skeeter. If the best in the bizz aren't hockin their sponsors goods, why stay?
  10. Let this be a lesson to all you senko fisherman...
  11. Solid hit to the wallet! HAHA! Nice!
  12. It's funny how so many everyday anglers think the pros are all great people, show great sportsmanship all the time, and are the very best at catching bass. Zona, Sanders, and Stone do a great job making you think all of this. In reality, they're just a bunch of guys competing for money. That tends to foster some not-so-great behavior. I've heard things from pros about other pros that will make your jaw drop.
  13. For the most part, yes. That's definitely the case when I'm throwing a bladed jig. With a spinnerbait, and I couldn't explain why, it's a little different. I feel like the bass just bite the two baits differently. I will reel and sweep but also do a 45 degree set (not hard) sometimes.
  14. As with bladed jigs, I prefer a glass or composite rod for spinnerbaits.
  15. BPT and MLF air at 7am Saturdays on Discovery. If you don't get the outdoor channel, the only other mainstream station that ever shows fishing is ESPN 2 (Bassmaters Elites). Those shows also air at crazy early times. Honestly, you're better off watching on youtube.

I normally just always throw a big jig to entice a big bite but at those temps, it really shines for me. Now, it could be different as I'm doing 99% of my fishing in northern NY. I went out the day before Thanksgiving. Water temp was 40. My father and I stuck a 22lb bag with a 1/2 oz jig/big salty chunk combo. If I had to choose 2 other baits they'd be a bladed jig and lipless crank.
  17. I'm really glad he made the switch. No offense to Enigma but it made me cringe everytime I saw Aaron with a Stella or Metanium on one of those rods!
  18. It sounds like the OP is asking if the Curado K is comparable in Shimano's lineup of baitcasters to the Stradic FL in their lineup of spinning reels, not comparing the two against each other. While I don't have an FL, I do have an FK and I would agree with @5by3 that the Stradic (amongst the field of Shimano spinning reels) has a refinement and quality closer to Shimano's next level baitcaster above the Curado, which would be the Chronarch. That being said, the Curado K is a very, very nice reel. You won't be disappointed with it if you go that route.
  19. Lots of comments on this suit. A lot of people like them. That deal is hard to pass up. Looks like it's over though:(
  20. Not sure if this helps but I ordered some SX1 in 50lb last year. The diameter is huge. Like, larger than FX2 60lb. The color bleeds like a sonofagun too. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. My guess is the 12lb SX1 will be much larger than PP in 10, 15, or even 20.
  21. I'm glad 2 of the most high profile guys left the BPT. The whole deal just rubbed me the wrong way in the first place. I like the G-man a heck of a lot more now.
  22. I found it hard to believe Enigma made enough $$$ to afford one of the most high profile anglers in the sport.
  23. Another cheap raingear find.. Academy has the Huk Hydra jacket for $75 and the bibs for $100.
